    Culture and Engagement Officer – Resorts

    Key Performance Areas:  

    • The incumbent will be responsible for implementing and driving an integrated culture and engagement strategy at all the Beekman Group resorts throughout South Africa. S/he should be able to engage, align and inspire resort employees with the company’s vision and business strategy. The role encompasses key aspects of how the company connects and relates to employees, to empower them to create the best possible customer experience. The role partners closely with the Resort Management and Customer Experience Teams to shape, drive and deliver culture, engagement, and internal communications.

    Responsibilities Include:                            

    • Support the Staff Welfare Manager to define, build and grow the company culture.
    • Lead and manage the internal engagement of the Beekman W.A.Y initiative, along with action planning and goal setting, ensuring the leadership team has access to insights that inform positive change.
    • Lead development, implementation, and assessment of strategies and programs to continuously improve engagement among our employees contributing to a high performing organisation linked to our values.
    • Build strong internal networks and drive change management, communication of culture initiatives.
    • Provide counsel, guidance and tools to resort managers as to best practices in communicating with employees to elevate productivity, performance and pride.
    • To influence social activity and performance update events including staff socials and guest interaction, in accordance to the resort Beekman W.A.Y Plan.
    • Drive the development and implementation of people recognition initiatives that are valued across the organisation at all levels and ongoing ownership.
    • Facilitate training of all staff at all levels to enforce the company culture.
    • Oversee ad-hoc projects that further enhance the employee and customer/shareholder experience.

    Minimum Qualifications and Experience:  

    • 5+ Years relevant working experience.
    • Background and experience in Internal Communications.
    • Previous experience in culture building and or staff and customer engagement.
    • Proven leadership, independence of thought / action, and the ability to analyse complex problems from multiple perspectives.
    • Excellent facilitation skills.
    • Must be able to manage multiple priorities, produce excellent work results, and follow through on commitments.
    • While the position is based at our Head Office in Port Shepstone, the incumbent must be willing to travel extensively (to resorts) on an ongoing basis. Most of the incumbent’s work time will be spent at resorts.

    Assistant Food & Beverage Manager – Cayley Lodge & Mountain Resort

    Key Performance Areas:

    Assist the F&B Manager of a large and very busy Resort property with the following:

    • Planning, forecasting and budgeting the revenues and cost for the department.
    • Staffing and scheduling of the employees and allocation of duties to ensure the maximisation of productivity and minimise payroll costs.
    • Creating a work environment that is high in employee morale and provides constant learning and development
    • Develop systems and procedures that achieve higher cost efficiency and guest satisfaction.
    • Assist with the recruitment and performance appraisal and management of employees in the department.
    • Manage and lead employees to ensure maximum productivity.
    • Work with the outlet chefs in the area of cuisine, menu planning & design for the various outlets / banquets.
    • Ensure through regular monitoring feedback, prompt, efficient and accurate service is provided to all guests.
    • Organise food festivals and develop ideas in conjunction with the public relations staff programs to encourage guest support?
    • Compile and review the monthly profit and loss statement
    • Ensure that all the operational standards set for all the equipment and processes are followed.
    • Maximise F&B profitability by implementing the cost containment strategies for all the outlets.
    • Conduct refresher-training programs for employees and guide the new employees in the department.
    • Revise manager’s duty list to ensure that all areas of reporting and reconciling is covered.
    • Address any grievance and counselling issues among the department associates with all departments and areas including outsourced functions

    Key Competencies & Personal Attributes:

    • Proven F&B Management experience and a history of experience in the Hospitality industry
    • Proven management skills including: Guest & Staff relations and administration, Management of revenue streams, Budgeting and Financial experience
    • Excellent understanding of all aspects of Hospitality Operations
    • Computer literacy skills including : Excel & Word
    • Desire and ability to work in a fairly remote location
    • Ability to work under pressure and without supervision
    • Attention to detail
    • Proven communication skills
    • Ability to work normal hospitality hours including shifts, overtime, working weekends and public holidays
    • Own transport and a valid driver’s license essential.

    Resort Manager – Illovo Beach Club

    Key Performance Areas:

    • This role is responsible for managing staff & handling all aspects of the property & associated facilities.  
    • Ensure that regular maintenance of the property is carried out effectively.
    • Interact with guests.  
    • Monitor budgets & process relevant documentation.
    • The successful candidate must be prepared to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
    • Handling of guest related queries, online booking platforms and various booking periods.

    Key Competencies & Personal Attributes

    • 3 years’ experience in a Resort Manager position
    • Previous experience with Timeshare
    • Must have HR & IR experience to deal with staff
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Be deadline orientated & have ability to work under pressure
    • Excellent decision-making skills
    • Un-endorsed Code 08 driver’s license
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • Above average computer literacy
    • Analytical
