    UI/UX Designer

    Job Role

    A leading Software Design Studio in Johannesburg is looking for a UX/UI Designer to join their dynamic team. This company values collaboration and transparency, both with their employees and clients. They believe it’s not just about tech, it’s about people too – they aim to create great solutions by understanding the users and building lasting relationships.

     

    The role entails:

    • Oversee the conceptualization, design, and delivery of effective UI across a range of projects.
    • Translating complex information and displaying it in the most practical and striking way (this includes plotting out mind maps, streamlining flows, constructing wire-frames, and skinning designs).
    • Manage and maintain a library of design components.
    • Design and maintain detailed UI design style guides for use across the company.
    • Feel comfortable collaborating meaningfully with internal (and sometimes external) teams, providing files and support where necessary.
    • Conduct and report back on UI design reviews as managed through the Creative Director.
    • Work with developers and project managers to assess the impact of all UI design and usability
    • Changes to ensure that all client sites and apps deliver the best experience possible.

     

    Requirements

    • 4 years’+ experience working in the UI/UX design industry.
    • Strong understanding and experience with responsive/adaptive design for web and mobile experience.
    • A strong portfolio that demonstrates an understanding of digital design and user experience.
    • Good working knowledge of UX and interaction design.
    • Excellent working knowledge of Invision, Sketch and Adobe Creative Suite.
    • Experience of delivering UI designs to budget and deadlines, ensuring ROI.
    • Adhere to expert knowledge of UI design principles and techniques.
    • Excellent understanding of Sketch and Invision (similar programmes will be advantageous).
    • Team player and not afraid of a bit of hard work and fun with colleagues. Ability to listen and closely work with colleagues and incorporate any feedback.
    • Experience in interpreting designs to a very high standard and accuracy
    • Experience in translating of UX wireframes to design.

    Software Product Manager

    Job Role

    A company in the Software Development industry is on the lookout for a new Product Manager to join their team. The company is based in Rosebank, Johannesburg, with branches in the UK & US.

    The position reports directly to the Head of Product and will work alongside employees in the following roles on a daily basis:

    • Engineers
    • UI Designers
    • Customer Success Agents
    • Fellow product managers

     

    Objectives of the role (non-exhaustive):

    • Performing customer discovery/user research (in person and remotely) to explore pain points and test proposed solutions.
    • Performing research on industry trends, opportunities and solutions. This often includes seeking out and engaging with industry/domain experts.
    • Collaborating with UI designers to create solutions that address specific problems or opportunities. This collaboration would be through the process of white-boarding and wire framing.
    • Decomposition of a proposed solution into work-packages with clear outcomes that can be understood by a technical reader, most often: an engineer. This decomposition will need to be performed in collaboration with an engineering lead/manager.
    • Daily collaboration with engineers during development.
    • Communicating with sales & marketing personnel regarding the functionality of the product manager’s solutions.

     

    Skills

    • Deep technical understanding of software and technology (a background in engineering/software development)
    • Superlative communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Highly personable with the ability to:
    1. Actively listen and empathise
    2. Manage conflict
    3. Engender trust
    • Very strong problem solving skills

    Experience

    3+ year’s experience with the following:

    • Working in high-pressure environments
    • Collaborating closely with designers and engineers to produce viable, thought-through technical solutions
    • Experience with wire-framing highly preferable
    • Performing in-person customer interviews
    • Facilitating workshops with designers, engineers and non-technical participants that produce clear outcomes
