EXPERIENCE (including but not limited to):
- 1 year practical trade-related experience in a heavy industrial/ mining/ plant environment.
DUTIES (including but not limited to):
- To assist in ensuring optimum availability and reliability of equipment in support of effective and continuously improved plant / mining operations. Assist to execute maintenance on mining electrical reticulation including modifications, installations and repairs.
- Ensure own work area is clean at all times. Ensure all equipment and tools are cleaned after use and stored in Storeroom. Ensure that personal toolbox/ tool bag is in safe working condition.
- Conduct mini risk assessment in own area of work and within span of control.
- Work independently and/or under the supervision of the artisan. Complete basic discipline specific work and functions in the field under the supervision of the Artisan. Ensure tasks are completed according to set requirements and standards. Conduct inspections whether regular or ad-hoc and report back on work orders.
- Report all defects and status of tools and equipment to Artisan/ Chargehand. All tools and equipment are stored safely after inspection. Tools utilized by the Aide are kept clean, maintained and functional. Tools, material and equipment are utilized according to SOP's.
- Assist artisans in the maintenance of primary and secondary equipment when instructed (perform partly independent to the level of competence). All production equipment is maintained reactively and on a scheduled basis to ensure equipment availability and reliability. Breakdowns are attended to immediately to restore availability and reported to the Artisan/ Chargehand. Repaired equipment is tested for functionality before installation.
- Assist artisan on removing replacing and/or repairing and installation of panel, fluorescent tubes, and machinery during breakdowns, HT cables, belt drives, straining wires, power turning. Build cable joints; Connect and disconnect cables under supervision; Perform lockout procedure when necessary. Assist artisan on HT Maintenance; Transport cables; compressor including faultfinding (assist cabling). Assist Artisan with substation equipment maintenance. Assist with minor maintenance and installations in buildings of appliances. Responsible for cable installation, jointing and connection of electrical equipment to distribution boards underground / surface. Wire and fault find motor control centers and distribution boards under the supervision of a qualified electrician. Communicate effectively with line Supervisors / Foremen and related plant / mine personnel.

Provide technical and operational support to the Section Engineer in ensuring the efficient utilisation of underground equipment and production processes to meet production targets. The role assists in coordinating engineering and operational activities, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and company standards. The Junior Section Engineer contributes to maintaining equipment reliability, implementing best practices, and supporting safety initiatives to achieve departmental objectives.
Financial Perspective:
- Assist in compiling operational, capex, and labour budget inputs for the sub-function and submit to the Section Engineer for review.
- Monitor expenditure against approved budgets and report variances to the Section Engineer, recommending corrective actions where applicable.
- Support the review and processing of payments by preparing documentation in line with approved budgets and company policy.
- Identify and communicate operational, labour, and capex needs within the sub-function to ensure efficient delivery of production targets.

DUTIES (including but not limited to):
- Coordinate full recruitment process in a timeous and effective manner, meeting customer requirements while adhering to labour request. Ensure that the advert template is loaded online by the HR Practitioner and advise Area HR Practitioner to raise a requisition. Ensure that the advertisement is published online once the labour request is approved by all. Screen all applications received online in accordance with the minimum requirements of the position. Extend the shortlist to Line Supervisor shortlisting. Draft a shortlist summary to confirm the shortlist and submit it to the HR Superintendent for approval. Ensure that interviews are scheduled accordingly and all logistics are arranged. Ensure that relevant assessments are arranged where necessary. Ensure that candidates complete all necessary recruitment documentation and collect necessary documents.
