    Surface Risk Electrician - Westonaria

    The Electrician's duties encompasses maintaining, repairs and projects on electrical systems, plant and equipment within the Metallurgical Plant. This role involves executing both planned and unplanned assignments to ensure the safe, effective, and efficient functioning of equipment. A core accountability of the role is to maintain the highest possible safety standards in the area of operation.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 equivalent qualification
    • Electrical Trade certificate
    • Medium Voltage Certificate
    • 2 to 5 years’ experience as a MV Electrician in a Metallurgical Plant environment
    • Valid driver’s licence
    • Be declared medically fit for the position and the environment, as determined by the risk based medical examination at the relevant Gold Fields Occupational Health and Safety Centre, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment

    Key Competencies:

    • Proven safety leadership capability with established safety campaign delivery record
    • Accomplished frontline team and people leader with advanced inter and intra-team collaboration skills
    • Effective communicator with sound spoken and written English communication skills
    • Proven track record of applying initiative, being a self-starter and working independently
    • Sound knowledge of Metallurgical Plant maintenance
    • Proficient knowledge of soft starters and Variable Speed Drives
    • Demonstrated experience on fault finding, diagnostics and maintenance
    • Demonstrated experience with legal inspections of equipment

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Ensure the Health and Safety of self and team members by applying relevant standards and procedures in the planning and execution of operational activities
    • Contribute to the culture of Zero Harm by participating in and contributing to operational safety campaigns, applying relevant legislative, operational and safe work standards and regulations and, instituting and monitoring appropriate remedial actions as required
    • Develop and foster relationships within the team while ensuring discipline is maintained
    • Timely and effective execution of equipment condition monitoring and planned maintenance activities
    • Repairing, maintenance and construction of MCC’s, MV substations, crushers, conveyors, MV overhead lines, Boilers, motors, new equipment installations and general maintenance in and around the Metallurgical- and Backfill Plant
    • Attend to breakdowns and do appropriate root cause analysis and diagnostics
    • Be willing to work shifts, overtime and perform standby duties when required

    Plant Operators - Westonaria

    The Plant Operator supports the safe and effective delivery of plant production through operating, monitoring, and reporting on dedicated equipment performance.  

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Grade 12/N3 or equivalent
    • Proficient in basic Backfill and Gold plant operations with at least 2 years practical experience in related environment
    • Successfully completed Thickener, Leaching and Gold plant operational courses
    • Knowledge of basic Cyanide Management standard operating procedures (International Cyanide Management Institute)
    • Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment

    Key Competencies:

    • Proficiency in understanding and applying relevant Safety and technical Standard Operating Procedures

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Perform inspections in accordance with the MHSA regulations and company standards
    • Contribute to the culture of Zero Harm by adhering to all requirements as laid down by legislation health safety environmental security policies and procedures and by the application of specific instructions to own work area and task completion
    • To carry out task specific to the area of responsibility
    • Print Job Cards and distribute to the relevant foreman on a weekly basis
    • To conduct mock drills

    • To always maintain good housekeeping
    • Relining is part of the duties of a section operator
    • Daily conveyor belt inspections and maintenance
    • Assisting with plant condition monitoring
    • Follow the smelting process and produce gold to the correct purity level
    • Ensuring compliance to the Mines Health & Safety Act and related Standard Operating Procedures, and Codes of Practice
    • Accurate and timeous reporting of all relevant safety and production matters

    Warehouse Clerk - Westonaria

    The Warehouse Clerk is accountable for providing administrative and physical (loading and off-loading of materials) support related to materials management activities against valid orders and reservations. This will include the receiving, recording, storage, transfer, stock taking and issuing of goods.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Grade 12 or Equivalent
    • Minimum of two (2) years’ administrative or related experience in a stores/inventory management environment
    • Experience with SAP and Materials Management System
    • Valid EB Driver’s license
    • Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment

    Key Competencies:

    • Proven personal safety record
    • Sound interpersonal relations, collaboration and good communication skills
    • Attention to detail and accuracy with a large transaction volumes
    • Proficient with SAP - Materials Management environment
    • Ability to work autonomously with the collaboration and assistance from other team members
    • Ability to cope with pressure and manage deadlines effectively

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Ensure active participation in SHE campaigns and adherence to all SHE standards
    • Execute tasks in accordance with established work instructions and Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) policies and processes to safeguard the well-being and safety of oneself and others
    • Execute basic warehouse tasks with guidance from supervisor to ensure that all goods and supplies are appropriately receipted, stored, and maintained in line with set policies, procedures, and processes and, assist with basic packaging tasks as and when needed
    • Execute basic inventory control tasks by verifying quantities, quality, and availability against records while adhering to established inventory control policies, procedures, and processes
    • Operate basic machinery and equipment as licenced and carry out routine tasks in adherence with strict and detailed work instructions
    • Execute routine tasks in adherence with established policies, procedures, and processes to enable compliance with external regulatory codes and internal quality standards
    • Execute tasks in compliance with set budget and costs and, identify and report any deviations
