    Rock Drill Operator

     Qualifying Criteria :

    • Grade 10.11 or equivalent ABET Level
    • MQA Competency B Certificate
    • Rock Drill Certificate of Competence as recognised by the MQA
    • Proficient in English and any other of the 11 official languages
    • Applicant must possess good verbal communication skills
    • Must be able to communicate in English
    • Fluency in any of the 11 Official languages
    • Ability to adapt to change in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
    • Must be deadline-driven with the ability to work under pressure
    • Must have experience working underground
    • Applicant must possess written and verbal communication skills
    • South African Citizenship
    • Clear Criminal Record
    • Must be declared medically fit by our Occupational Health Centre.

     Responsibilities :

    • Work a rotation of shifts
    • Perform all the duties safely as trained by our training centre
    • Be observant of the condition of equipment and materials used to ensure company standards are met   
    • Promptly report any possible problems that may cause work obstruction
    • Must be able to determine the cleanliness of the workplace and adhere to housekeeping standards and procedures   
    • Comply with proper Health and Safety policies and procedures as required (i.e. when performing various duties underground)
    • Hearing Protective devices are always to be worn while drilling operations are in progress, as well as any other P.P.E. which is prescribed. (Safety belts in steep areas)
    • Frequent examinations of the immediate hanging face and sidewall are to be conducted. If additional barring is required or in your opinion, the area appears unsafe, call the Miner or Team Leader to investigate and make it safe
    • Do not remove any support without the instructions of the Miner
    • Ensure hoses and fittings are properly secured at their attachment points
    • Install gate stulls between yourself and other machine crew or workers in steeply dipping areas or where there is danger of rolling rocks
    • Drill on the marks and direction lines that the Miner draws
    • Ensure that you are working in an area where support is installed according to the Mine’s Standards, at all times
    • Your attention is drawn to the content of the Mine’s Standard Procedure
    • Perform any related duties as may be required from time to time by a supervisor

    Team Leader GR1:Mining

    Job specification

    • Grade 10.11 or equivalent NQF4 qualifications
    • Proficient in English and any other of the 11 official languages
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in underground mining, with at least 2 years in a Team Leader role.
    • Must have a valid Competency A certificate
    • Sound knowledge of underground mining operations, legislation, and safety protocols.
    • Valid medical fitness certificate for underground work.
    • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

    Responsibilities

    • Lead, coordinate, and supervise underground mining crews to achieve production targets.
    • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards always.
    • Conduct pre-shift meetings, risk assessments, and workplace inspections.
    • Monitor and report on production performance and resource utilisation.
    • Train, mentor, and motivate team members to maintain high work standards.
    • Liaise with other departments to ensure smooth operational flow.
    • Provide efficient support and best practices with equipping and mining operations.
    • Carry out the duties and responsibilities of his/her appointment as team leader.
    • Responsible for maintaining the quality of work as per mine standard and COP’s
    • Maintain updated knowledge of standards established by the Occupational Health, Safety and Environment.
    • Investigate any accident claims and report such occurrences to the supervisor(s).
    • Report any inconsistencies immediately to the control room and supervisors on shift.
    • Always take instructions from the supervisor responsible for the shift.
    • Conduct all work according to required standards and specifications.

    Mine Manager 3.1(A)

    Work Description

    • The Manager: Mining manages and coordinates safe, effective production within the mining operations. Responsibilities include planning, sourcing, allocating, and properly utilizing all resources (Human Resources, budget, and material); controlling and reporting on budgeted expenditure and revenue. Evaluate procedures and control expenditures against budgets. Determines optimum use of available resources within the unit. Plans and commissions production-related projects. Controls production for stopping and development operations by using daily reports.
    • Further, the role is also responsible for ensuring compliance with legal requirements.

    Qualifications/Competencies

    • Mine Manager Certificate of Competency.
    • Must be computer literate.
    • Good communication and interpersonal capabilities.
    • Strong leadership qualities.
    • Strong short-, medium-, and long-term planning capabilities.

    Experience

    • Minimum 4 to 6 years of post-qualification experience in a gold production environment.

    Financial Effectiveness

    • Interpret strategic objectives and needs across disciplines and changes in the micro and macro environment to ensure the availability and management of funds to meet the short, medium, and long-term objectives of the Mining Department.

    Operational Planning

    • Develops, evaluates, and monitors mining and/or business strategy to ensure the attainment of the business units and/or group's strategy and objectives.

    SHE

    • Interprets operational and mining risks to ensure the development and management of a risk management plan to minimize identifiable risks to an operation.

    Production Management

    • Develop and review plans and systems (both technical and management) to achieve and improve mining KPIs (mining to plan and/or benchmarking and/or best practice).
    • Manages the investigation and development of mining resources to allow for continuous improvement in terms of efficiency and unit cost.
    • Reviews and regulates the commitment of resources within the mining areas to optimize the efficiency of operations and achievement of overall objectives.
    • Identifies and coordinates the development and integration of new technology and best practices, using in-depth technical expertise, to replace or improve the cost-effectiveness of operational systems and services.
    • Give direction in managing the coordination of the various disciplines to support the achievement of the mining objectives.
    • Communicates with other divisions in the company regarding issues where Mining has an impact on those areas of the business.

    People Management

    • Review and approve labour plans around operational targets.
    • Provide leadership and inspire team members towards high performance.
    • Ensure the optimum utilisation and effectiveness of all human resources in the Mining Department.

     Organised Labour

    • Liaise effectively with representative labour organisations to ensure that there is a harmonious working environment in the operation.

    Junior Clerk Stockpile

    Qualifying Criteria:

    • 1-2 years’ work experience within a gold mining environment
    • Studying towards a mine sampling qualification will be advantageous

     Responsibilities: 

    • Working a cycle of shifts
    • Report and record daily, the source of ore the dump truck brings out of the mine
    • Ensure the ore is tipped in designated areas; e.g. Crusher, Reef pile and or Waste pile etc.
    • Practice and adhere to company sampling policies and procedures
    • Always take instructions from the supervisor(s) responsible for the shift

    Assistant Electrical

    Qualifying Criteria:

    • Grade 10, 11, 12, or equivalent qualification
    • N2 in Engineering studies in Electrical will be advantageous
    • 1-2 years’ experience in Electrical Engineering in a mining or industrialized environment is essential and required
    • Proficient in English and any other of the 11 official languages
    • Must be able to work at heights and confined spaces

    • Studying towards an Electrical Engineering Trade will be an added advantage

    • Assist Artisan(s) in carrying out their duties efficiently by providing support and carrying the toolbox, hand tools and other equipment
    • Maintain tools and equipment and safely keep hand tools
    • Able to disassemble and re-assemble electrical apparatus / components and equipment using hand tools
    • Thread conduit ends, connect couplings, and fabricate and secure conduit support brackets using hand tools
    • Examine electrical units for loose connections and broken insulation and tighten connections using hand tools
    • Manage and maintain in area of responsibility in accordance with mine standards, procedures and practices
