    Client Engagement Coordinator 1

    • The Client Action Team (CAT) is looking to add a junior level Client Engagement Coordinator to join the team in Johannesburg. The Client Engagement Coordinator will come with at least 3 years prior work history and will use their experience to help Client Engagement Directors on key Hatch pursuits. 

    Accordingly, day-to-day job responsibilities will be determined by the needs and workload of the team, but will likely include: 

    • Leverage client-focused thinking to develop visual messaging for pursuit materials, including presentations, proposal documents, and leave behinds 
    • Create and source and various pursuit material graphics, including images and organizational charts 
    • Contribute and coordinate in strategy development meetings, including win strategy and presentation preparation* 
    • Support delivery of Client Action Team trainings, including event planning and providing onsite support*  
    • Manage and maintain Client Action Team intranet pages and assets 
    • Review and forward internal client support service requests to appropriate team member(s) 
    • Execute ad hoc Client Action Team member requests.

    Qualifications

    Senior Process Engineer - Gold

    • The Process Engineer will be part of an engineering team providing engineering services and/or field support. Client liaison and maintaining the focus of the project on achieving unprecedented and sustained business results for the client is a large part of the work.
    • The role will require the engineer to oversee, guide and develop solutions in all areas of the process plant across various systems, unit operations and process equipment. Specific tasks may include the development of process engineering deliverables; solutions to infield problems; and involvement in the execution and commissioning of these solutions.
    • The Process Engineer may be required to act as Lead Process Engineer, on specific assignments, responsible for coordinating the process engineering team, oversee and guide the development of process engineering deliverables ensuring they meet the project’s scope, are delivered on schedule and budget, and meet Hatch’s quality standards. Experience in Gold Concentrator design.

    Key Responsibilities Include:

    • Perform process engineering tasks on Minerals Processing projects, in a variety of commodities
    • When requested, act as Lead Process Engineer on projects or studies
    • Operate with full competence and independence in the execution of all design calculations, design criteria, in the compilation and execution of equipment lists and calculations.
    • Develop new criteria/calculations where required, maintaining high levels of accuracy. Provide frequent training, guidance and supervision to junior colleagues
    • Actively engage with clients to understand project requirements
    • Process scope definition and technology selection
    • Define the process design criteria
    • Define the process block flow diagram and unit operations
    • Compilation of Process Flow Diagrams, along with associated mass and energy balance calculations
    • Undertake trade off studies to resolve options
    • Identify, scope and manage process test work (on site or laboratory based)
    • Conduct capacity analysis for existing plants
    • Select the equipment for projects
    • Carry out engineering design calculations and equipment sizing calculations
    • Prepare specifications of process attributes for equipment, through compilation of process datasheets (or process input to general datasheets).
    • Compilation of Process Description
    • Design of the process control logic adhering to appropriate safety standards, and documentation into Functional Descriptions
    • Display full competence and independence in the compilation of P&IDs and all levels of control philosophies.
    • Ensure process specifications portray the appropriate information and design intent and review of equipment bids
    • Liaising with other discipline engineers to ensure designs conform to process requirements
    • Contribute to hazard studies
    • Compile operating cost estimates including estimation of consumables, labor, maintenance materials and power
    • Provide input to capital cost estimates
    • Prepare well written project reports
    • Play a lead role in site commissioning of new equipment and process systems
    • Participate in the preparation of proposals and other business development initiatives.

    Qualifications and Experience: 

    • Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering or Mineral Processing degree.
    • Minimum of 10 years’ experience
    • Experience supporting engineering studies including scope studies, Preliminary Economic Assessments (PEA), Pre-Feasibility Studies (PFS), and Feasibility Studies.
    • Extensive design, commissioning and/or operational experience in gold processing facilities
    • Experience in scoping and management of metallurgical testwork programs (benchscale, pilot scale, on-site testing)
    • Experience in modelling of gold processing equipment and systems
    • Strong client focus.
    • Ability to lead engineering tasks on a project, within the allocated budget and schedule, including mentoring and guidance of junior colleagues and professional interaction with other project disciplines
    • Ability to manage individuals to attain quality, cost and schedule objectives.

    Principal Risk Specialist

    Position Summary

    • Reporting to the Engagement Manager and functionally to the Global Director, Risk Solutions, the Principal Risk Specialist will work closely with clients and engagement teams in different regions to strengthen their approach to risk management across their organizations and capital investments. The role provides independent, unbiased risk expertise that enables clients to make confident, risk‑informed decisions—from strategic planning through design, execution, and operations. This support reduces cost and schedule variability, improves predictability, and helps unlock opportunities that enhance overall project outcomes. In addition, the role will support the Global Director, Risk Solutions in advancing and expanding the global Risk Management Practice, while also contributing to raising the profile and effectiveness of the Risk Management function within the AIM region. 

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop effective relationships with clients, Pursuit and Engagement Managers and teams, Business Unit and Business Practices Directors
    • Develop project-specific risk management plans
    • Plan and facilitate risk workshops and risk reviews
    • Plans and facilitate quantitative cost and schedule risk analysis
    • Plan and facilitate hazard studies (i.e. HAZAN, HAZOPs) and other safety studies or hazard assessments (i.e. LOPA, SIL, FMEA, Root Cause Analysis)
    • Plan and facilitate decision analysis and value engineering workshops
    • Maintain project risk register to ensure all risks and their characteristics are appropriately and accurately documented; ensure risk response actions are being developed, executed, updated and completed as planned
    • Guide the engagements and business units through appropriate steps of qualitative and quantitative risk assessment and prepare realistic and actionable risk treatment plans for the identified threats and opportunities that are consistent with standard organizational practices and strategic objectives
    • Provide Engagement Managers and Business Unit Directors with timely assessment of the current status of all risks, the occurrence of any triggers, the effectiveness of any treatment plans that are being executed and implementation recovery plans for those that are not working as expected
    • Communicate and train engagement and business unit team members in risk management processes and procedures
    • Assess the effectiveness of risk management processes across the organization and advise engagement and higher-level management on how to enhance risk management effectiveness over time
    • Assist with the development of risk management procedures and functional guides
    • Contribute to fostering a knowledge sharing culture by actively participating in the risk knowledge networks and collaborative forums
    • Assist the Global Director Risk Management with business development, proposal development at local and lobal level and client engagement

    Qualifications and Requirements

    • Post-secondary degree from a recognized university, ideally in engineering or business. A professional risk or project management designation is desirable (i.e., CRM, PMI-RMP, GARP, PMP etc.,); MBA, PhD is nice to have
    • Minimum 10 year experience in a risk management role, workshop facilitation involving large groups of people, leading hazard study workshops (HAZAN, HAZOP, Construction and Commissioning Safety Studies) and other technical analysis techniques (i.e. LOPA, SIL, machine guarding). Process Safety Management or Process Safety Engineering experience or certification is nice to have
    • Expert knowledge in the application of International Risk Management Standards, i.e. ISO 31000, ISO 31010, IEC 62198, PRAM and PMI.
    • Expert knowledge of the risk management process and know how to adapt it to the client and project needs; understand how risk creates value on projects.
    • Expert knowledge with bow-tie analysis and related software
    • Expert knowledge of quantitative models of cost and schedule, including quantitative risk analysis tools (i.e. @Risk, Safran, PRA)
    • Proficiency in Microsoft applications; Working experience with modern risk management information systems and software. (i.e. Predict!, CURA, ARM, etc.)
    • Good understanding of and experience with project management, cost estimating and project scheduling principles, tools and techniques
    • Strong team player with excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills in English. Similar skills in a second language such as French, Spanish, Portuguese or Chinese are desirable
    • Ability to oversee the risk management programs of concurrent multiple projects.
    • Ability to manage competing priorities effectively - routine requirement to work to deadlines imposed by client which might require completion of unplanned risk management activities in a short time frame
    • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with internal and external clients; establish trust, credibility and respect
    • Skilled in the production of reports and presentations
    • Ability to travel to other Hatch offices or project sites as required, sometimes extensively and on relatively short notice

    NDT Technician

    • In addition to developing new technologies and selecting and installing equipment in greenfield projects, we help our clients to get the most from their existing assets by providing field support, rebuilds and repairs, and retrofits.     Proposal Coordinator

    • Hatch is currently seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Proposal Coordinator to join our global Client Action Team (CAT), supporting sales efforts in Africa, India, and the Middle East.
