    Dental Assistant Intercare Mall@55 Medical and Dental Centre

    Role Description

    • The focus of this position is to assist dental professionals engaged in performing general and/or specialist dentistry and other dental procedures, as well as facilitating the patient administration process.
    • Work within the realms of the scope of practice and knowledge base in relation to current trends and advances to maintain competency level.
    • Takes personal accountability for decisions made and actions taken and/or omissions in the course of care delivery.
    • Ensure the dental room is hygienically acceptable and that sterilization and infection control protocols are adhered to with regards to instruments and equipment.
    • Assist dentist in all clinical procedures according to branch protocol.
    • Coordinate laboratory work including but not limited to completion of lab slips, collection, returning and casting.
    • Control availability of consumables and equipment in dental room as well as the monitoring the economical usage thereof.
    • Engage and interrogate concerns brought to his/her attention in order to provide safe dental practices.
    • Ensure documentation is in accordance with the policy and within the legal framework.
    • Maintain patient confidentiality, dignity and safety at all times.
    • Ensure that the disposal of medical waste, human tissue and medicine is in accordance to legislation.
    • Ensure the efficient functioning of equipment, or reporting of any equipment failure that could pose a potential risk to patients or staff.

    Role Requirements

    • Minimum qualification: Grade 12
    • Completion of approved training course in dental assisting, or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
    • Previous experience in a customer focused service environment will be advantageous.
    • Computer proficiency (MS Office).
    • Knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of general dentistry as applied to assisting a dentist in the treatment and care of patients.
    • Advanced knowledge of dental terminology.
    • Basic understanding of the functioning of dental healthcare environment.
    • Good knowledge and application of infection control principles and sterilization techniques.
    • Knowledge of treatment codes used in dentistry in doing quotations for advanced dentistry treatment procedures.
    • Specialised dental procedures.
    • GoodX experience will be advantageous
    • Registered with HPCSA as Registered Dental Assistant.

    Role Description
    CRITICAL OUTPUTS

    • Assess billing information and ensure correctness.
    • Actively maintain stock management processes.
    • Regularly maintain and review GOODX and SWITCH system set-up.

    Enrolled Nurse Auxiliary - Hospitals

    Role Description

    • The successful incumbent will be responsible for receiving, assessing, and delivering quality nursing care to patients before and after surgical procedures, ensuring safe recovery from anaesthesia and surgery until the patient is stable for discharge.

    CRITICAL OUTPUTS

    • Function within the scope of practice as prescribed by SANC, maintaining professional accountability at all times.
    • Deliver safe, effective pre-operative and post-operative nursing care in accordance with patient care plans.
    • Conduct patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and accurately document all clinical findings.
    • Assist with IV management, blood and fluid transfusions, specimen collection, wound care, and administration of prescribed medication.
    • Monitor patients for changes in condition and escalate concerns to the relevant healthcare professionals.
    • Ensure patient comfort, dignity, confidentiality, and safety throughout the patient journey.
    • Educate patients on post-operative care and communicate follow-up appointments clearly.

    • Maintain stock control and comply with Intercare’s financial and operational policies.

    Role Requirements

    • Enrolled Nurse Auxiliary qualification
    • Atleast 2 years’ nursing experience in a theatre or surgical ward environment.
    • Active SANC registration is essential.
    • Ability to work shifts and overtime as required.
    • Microsoft package knowledge / Computer Literate.

    Registered Nurse: Theatre - Hospitals

    Role Description

    • To assist during surgical procedures by preparing the operating theatre, supporting the surgeon throughout the procedure, and ensuring safe patient transfer to recovery. The successful incumbent will also act as a theatre team leader when delegated..

    CRITICAL OUTPUTS

    • Practice within the scope of practice as prescribed by SANC, ensuring professional accountability at all times.
    • Conduct pre-operative patient assessments and ensure patients are fully informed prior to surgery.
    • Prepare and maintain sterile instruments, equipment, and theatre environment.
    • Act as a scrub nurse, anticipating the surgeon’s needs and providing instruments, swabs, needles, and materials during procedures.
    • Perform circulating nurse duties when required, coordinating theatre activities and acting as a link between the surgical team and other departments.
    • Ensure accurate counting and accountability of instruments, swabs, and equipment throughout procedures.
    • Maintain strict sterile technique and patient safety at all times.
    • Handle, label, and manage tissue specimens in accordance with hospital policy.
    • Complete all required clinical documentation and hand over patients to the recovery room.
    • Support cleaning, equipment checks, and theatre readiness between procedures.
    • Assist in other theatre or ward functions as operationally required.

    Role Requirements

    • Minimum: NQF 6 Nursing qualification.
    • 2 - 3 years experience as a Registered Nurse in Theatre / Operating environment.
    • Registration with SANC as a Registered Nurse.
    • High proficiency in practical problem solving, communication, teamwork, customer orientation, pressure handling, attention to detail.
    • Computer Literacy.
