    Stacker Operator

    • Novus Print: Montague Gardens is seeking to permanently appoint an individual with knowledge and experience in an FMCG printing environment to take on the role of Stacker Operator. The position is based in Montague Gardens, Cape Town. The successful candidate will be reporting to the Shift Leader in the Press department.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Ensure the availability of job material, job cards and correct pallet tickets
    • Ensuring the quality of the logs and pallets produced
    • Basic maintenance and cleaning of the stacker
    • Doing quality checks and informing the Printer of any faults
    • Adhere to all health and safety requirements
    • Manually packing sections to the pallets when there are jams and /or spoils
    • Log all problems and faults with the Senior Printer
    • Assist on the press where required
    • Ensure good housekeeping standards are maintained

    Educational Requirements    

    • Matric or equivalent

    Experience Requirements    

    • 1-2 years’ experience as a Stacker Operator
    • Exposure to the Pressroom environment

    Skills and Competencies    

    • Basic paper and press knowledge
    • The ability to work independently on the assigned responsibilities
    • Show initiative to improve the work environment
    • Safety consciousness
    • Must be able to work fast and accurately
    • Flexibility to work shifts and long hours
    • Being medically fit for the working environment
    • Excellent time and attendance

    Reelstand Operator

    • Novus Print: Montague Gardens is currently seeking to appoint an individual, with knowledge and experience in an FMCG printing environment to take on the role of a Reelstand Operator to ensure the accurate preparation of reels. The successful candidate will report directly to the Shift Leader Press.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Ensure correct paper size, grammage and check QTMS loaded
    • Assist with paper breaks and change over
    • Fault finding
    • Management of excess paper and prevention of spoilage
    • Ensure accurate preparation of reels to maintain desired quality within time tolerance
    • Assist on the press when required
    • Ensure good housekeeping standards are maintained
    • Adherence to safety procedures and operational maintenance

    Educational Requirements    

    • Matric or equivalent

    Experience Requirements    

    • 1-2 years’ experience as a Reelstand Operator
    • Exposure to the Press room environment

    Skills and Competencies    

    • Basic paper and Reelstand knowledge

    Maintenance & Engineering Manager

    Job Description    

    • We are seeking a hands-on Maintenance & Engineering Manager to lead plant reliability and engineering performance within a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring consistent, stable operations across multiple production lines, equipment, and supporting utilities, while driving continuous improvement in plant performance.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Lead and manage all maintenance and engineering activities across the plant
    • Drive preventative and predictive maintenance programmes
    • Improve plant reliability and reduce downtime
    • Lead troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and process failures
    • Ensure performance of production equipment and utilities systems
    • Diagnose and resolve equipment and process issues through hands-on, on-site engagement
    • Manage maintenance planning, scheduling, and spare parts control
    • Oversee cooling systems, compressed air, and electrical infrastructure
    • Deliver engineering improvements and plant optimisation projects
    • Ensure compliance with OHSA and GMR 2 
    • Collaborate with production teams to ensure alignment on operational goals
    • Lead and develop maintenance teams

    Educational Requirements    

    • Engineering qualification (Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial)
    • GMR 2 certification (essential)

    Experience Requirements    

    • 8–10 years manufacturing experience
    • Experience in high-speed production environments
    • Experience in packaging, extrusion, printing, or converting advantageous

    Skills and Competencies    

    • Strong hands-on troubleshooting ability
    • Knowledge of VSDs, electrical systems, and automation
    • Maintenance planning and reliability focus
    • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills

    Senior Gravure Printer

    • Novus Print: Montague Gardens is seeking to appoint a Gravure Printer within the Press department. The successful incumbent will report to the Shift Leader.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities    

    • To check and report defects spotted during initial start of production cycles of both printing and binding
    • Analyse, coordinate, and organize Press Gravure operations and procedures to ensure the safe, efficient and timely delivery of all Press Gravure commitments
    • Establish and maintain contingency plans in cases where machine/safety operations or deadlines may be in jeopardy 
    • Evaluate Press Gravure production, revise procedures, recommend procedure changes and continuously review established procedures to improve efficiency of workflow, safety and equipment reliability
    • Ensure physical plant cleanliness is maintained at all times within the Press Web Offset and warehouse area
    • Ensure inventory of consumable products and critical spare parts are maintained at sufficient levels at all times to prevent interruptions in production or services
    • Ensure Press Gravure compliance at all times with all company programs, policies and procedures
    • Assist assigned personnel in the completion of necessary work as needed
    • Oversee the quality control, quality assurance and waste control functions

    Educational Requirements    

    • A trade qualification in Press Gravure
    • A relevant Printing qualification will be advantageous.

    Experience Requirements    

    • A minimum of 5 years’ experience and expertise in a Press Gravure environment
    • At least 2 years’ experience in a same or similar role

    • Analytical and problem-solving skills
