    Material Handling Supervisor

    • As a Material Handling Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the safe, efficient, and effective transportation and storage of materials within the mining site.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Supervise and coordinate the activities of material handlers, ensuring that they adhere to established safety procedures and guidelines
    • Oversee the receiving, storing, and organizing of materials, equipment, and supplies to ensure efficient workflow and space utilization
    • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices for material handling and inventory management
    • Collaborate with procurement and purchasing teams to ensure that all materials are ordered and delivered on time, and in accordance with quality standards
    • Conduct regular inventory audits to ensure accuracy, and reconcile any discrepancies or variances
    • Monitor and track material usage, consumption and replenishment, and recommend adjustments to inventory levels as needed.
    • Train and mentor material handling staff, providing guidance and support to ensure that they are properly trained in operating material handling equipment and following safety protocols
    • Collaborate with cross functional teams, such as production, logistics, and quality control, to ensure smooth material flow and timely delivery to meet production schedules
    • Identify areas for process improvement and implement initiatives to streamline material handling operations, reducing costs, and increase efficiency
    • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to material handling activities, including receiving reports, inventory counts, and material movement records

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Proven experience in material handling or inventory management with at least 3 – 5 years of supervisory experience
    • Certification in material handling equipment operation, such as forklift certification is highly desirable
    • Knowledge of regulatory requirements such as Occupation Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines, related to material handling and storage
    • Proficiency in using computer systems and software for inventory management and data analysis
    • Strong physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects and operate material handling equipment
    • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
    • Ability to work flexible hours and adapt to changing schedules or demands
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in inventory management and record-keeping
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively coordinate and collaborate with internal teams and external vendors

    Senior Training Manager

    • The Training Manager will be responsible for managing all mining operational training, operator assessments, safety  compliance training, and competency development across surface mining operations. The role focuses on improving  operator performance, safety awareness, legal compliance, and production efficiency through structured technical  and operator training interventions. 
    • The successful candidate must have strong experience in TMM (Trackless Mobile Machinery) operations, operator  training, MQA compliance, and heavy earthmoving equipment within mining environments

    Training Management 

    • Develop and implement annual mining training plans and schedules 
    • Manage all operator, safety, induction, refresher, and competency training 
    • Coordinate technical and operational training for mining equipment operators 
    • Ensure training aligns with MQA standards and mine operating procedures 
    • Conduct training needs analysis across departments 
    • Develop and update training material, SOPs, assessments, and practical evaluations 

    TMM & Equipment Training 

    • Oversee training on heavy mining equipment including: 
    • Rigid Dump Trucks 
    • Excavators 
    • Dozers 
    • Graders 
    • Front End Loaders 
    • Drill Rigs 
    • ADTs 
    • Conduct operator evaluations and competency assessments 
    • Monitor operator performance and implement corrective coaching interventions 
    • Ensure legal compliance regarding operator licensing and certification 

    Assessment & Compliance 

    • Conduct formative, summative, and RPL assessments 
    • Ensure compliance with MQA, MHSA, and company training standards 
    • Maintain training records, skills matrices, and audit documentation 
    • Prepare for internal and external training audits 
    • Ensure all training interventions are properly documented and reported 

    Leadership & Administration 

    • Coordinate onboarding and induction programs 
    • Liaise with mine management, SHEQ, HR, and operational departments 
    • Compile monthly training reports and KPI dashboards 
    • Assist with recruitment and development of operators and trainers 
    • Promote a strong safety culture throughout operations 

    Minimum Requirements: 

    Qualifications 

    • Grade 12 
    • MQA Registered Assessor and Moderator 
    • Occupationally Directed Education Training and Development qualification advantageous 
    • Train the Trainer certification advantageous 

    Experience 

    • Minimum 8–10 years mining training experience 
    • Minimum 5 years in a supervisory or management training role 
    • Extensive experience in surface mining operations 
    • Strong experience training operators on TMM equipment 
    • Experience in open cast coal or hard rock mining environments preferred 

    Technical Competencies 

    • Knowledge of MQA compliance and MHSA legislation 
    • Experience with operator assessments and RPL processes 
    • Training material development experience 
    • Strong understanding of earthmoving equipment operations 
    • Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, reporting systems) 

    Key Competencies 

    • Strong leadership and communication skills

    • Coal mining 
    • Contract mining 
    • Earthmoving equipment training academies

    Plant Shift Supervisor

    • As a Coal Processing Shift Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient coal processing operations while meeting production and quality targets. You will supervise plant personnel, coordinate maintenance activities, and maintain compliance with safety and environmental standards.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Ensure all safety protocols are followed, including proper use of equipment, handling of hazardous materials, and adherence to safety regulations
    • Directly supervise plant operators and technicians, providing guidance, training, and support as needed to ensure smooth operations 
    • Monitor production processes to ensure optimal efficiency and output, identifying and addressing any issues or bottlenecks that may arise
    • Oversee quality control procedures to ensure that the coal meets specified standards, conducting regular inspections and implementing corrective actions as necessary 
    • Coordinate with maintenance teams to schedule and oversee routine maintenance and repairs of plant equipment to minimize downtime and maximize reliability
    • Maintain accurate records of production, safety incidents, equipment maintenance, and other relevant data, preparing reports for management as required 
    • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, motivating and empowering team members to achieve production targets and maintain high standards of safety and quality 
    • Troubleshoot operational issues as they arise, implementing solutions quickly to minimize disruptions to production 
    • Maintain open lines of communication with other shift supervisors, management, and support staff to ensure effective coordination and problem-solving across shifts
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements, costs savings, and efficiency enhancements, implementing changed and best practices to drive continuous improvement 

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Grade 12
    • Basic coal preparation certificate - compulsory 
    • 5 years' experience on a Coal Washing Plant 
    • Able to work shifts as required by the employer 
    • Willing to work overtime 
    • Good understanding of safety standards and procedures
