    Junior Foundry Production Manager

    Role Purpose

    • To support the management of foundry production operations, ensuring efficient, safe, and cost-effective manufacturing of cast components while meeting quality standards.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Assist in planning and scheduling daily production activities
    • Monitor production output and ensure targets are met
    • Supervise foundry staff including moulders, furnace operators, and general workers
    • Ensure adherence to quality standards and inspect production processes
    • Coordinate with pattern shop, melting, and finishing departments
    • Assist in troubleshooting production and casting defects
    • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
    • Monitor material usage and reduce waste/scrap
    • Maintain production records and reports
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives

    Minimum Requirements

    • Grade 12 Minimum - Studies in Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering will be advantageous
    • 1–3 years experience in a foundry or manufacturing environment
    • Basic understanding of casting processes and metallurgy
    • Supervisory or leadership exposure advantageous
    • Computer literacy (MS Excel, production systems)
    • Willingness to work shifts and extended hours if required
    • Own vehicle or reliable transport

    Production Manager

    • As Production Manager, you will be responsible for all facets of production, including the Painting Department, Bearing Assembly & Reconditioning, Main Assembly Floor, Production Operations, Repairs, Logistics, and Night Shift Operations. These departments report directly into this role, making it one of the most influential leadership positions within the business.
    • Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will lead a high-performing production team, deliver world-class products and solutions to customers, ensure safe and efficient operations, and drive productivity through strong people leadership and operational excellence.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead and manage all production, assembly, repair, logistics, painting, bearing assembly, and night shift activities.
    • Ensure safe, compliant, and efficient manufacturing operations in line with ISO and Occupational Health & Safety requirements.
    • Drive production output, labour productivity, quality, cost control, and KPI achievement.
    • Manage WIP, labour forecasting, capacity planning, budgeting, and operational reporting.
    • Oversee pump assembly, repairs management, shipping, cleaning, inspection, and assessment of customer equipment.
    • Support sales through on-time delivery commitments and proactive communication.
    • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and introduce new manufacturing methods and best practices.
    • Develop, mentor, and motivate teams while fostering a high-performance culture.
    • Manage relationships with internal stakeholders, customers, contractors, suppliers, and service providers.

    Requirements

    • Qualified Fitter, Artisan, or Engineering Degree from a recognized university or Technikon.
    • 5-10 years' experience in a production leadership role within engineering, mining, manufacturing, or related industries.
    • Proven people management experience across multiple production departments and shifts.
    • Strong understanding of labour management, productivity improvement, factory cost control, quality systems, and operational planning.
    • Sound knowledge of safety legislation and production best practices.
    • Excellent communication, reporting, organizational, and leadership skills.
    • Experience in slurry pumps, mining equipment, rotating equipment, or industrial manufacturing will be highly advantageous.
