    Process Engineers X 2

    PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

    • Daily trouble shooting and optimisation of the blending, arc furnace, BBOC and induction furnace;
    • Develop and update operating procedures, update P&IDS and create MOCs for process modifications.

    DIVERSITY OF WORK

    • Deliverance of capital projects assigned to him/her within specified time and costs. Ensure all engineering and governance requirements are met.

    DECISION MAKING

    • Decisions made must add value to the delivery of projects with respect to time, cost, quality compliance and customer satisfaction.

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Maximise throughputs across the Smelter Business Complex, in order to achieve its financial year targets;
    • Assist Senior Process Engineer and Process Leader with improvements and recommendations to maximise plant utilization, with minimal metal losses;
    • Technical investigation of the processes;
    • Ensure that there is full compliance with the SHEQ;
    • Issue certificates for the samples when they are of the specified standard.

    Requirements

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Preference will be given to a candidate in possession of a tertiary qualification in Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering;
    • Up to 5 years’ experience within a metallurgical or smelting environment, with at least 2 years of experience within a middle management position.

    SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

    • Computer literacy – SAP and MS Office;
    • Communication skills;
    • Risk management skills – able to identify and eradicate risk;
    • Training skills – able to train others;
    • Production knowledge – understand the production processes;
    • Equipment knowledge – fault detection abilities;
    • SHEQ and radiation knowledge – able to diagnose faults;
    • Hydro and Pyro-metallurgy knowledge – thorough understanding pf equipment and chemical thermodynamics;
    • Process knowledge – thorough understanding of material chemistry;
    • Scheduling knowledge – able to effectively schedule work for others.

    Quality Control Technician

    PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

    • The position holder is responsible to inspect all final products manufactured in the Fabrication section.  A zero-tolerance approach towards quality will be maintained in order to uphold customer satisfaction and Rand Refinery’s world-wide reputation of excellence.

    DIVERSITY OF WORK

    • Carries out specialist, technical or first level management responsibilities within the department or discipline.

    DECISION MAKING

    • Decisions about best method, operation, route or tools to get the job done.

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Adhere to SHEQ standards and practices i.e. monthly inspections, reporting of incidents and near-misses, adhere to - SHEQ regulations;
    • Adhere to the Quality System i.e. ISO 9001;
    • Adhere to Quality Control practices and procedures;
    • Adhere to Cargo Aviation Authorities (CAA) standards and practices;
    • Inspect all manufactured products and accept or reject products based on product type reference standard and specifications;
    • Log results on appropriate log sheets based on the daily / shift reject results;
    • Package final products as per type and customer specifications.

    Requirements

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Grade 12;
    • National Diploma in TQM, Chemical Process or Metallurgy;
    • At least 2 years of experience in manufacturing environment.

    SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

    • Computer literacy - SAP and MS office;
    • Good communication skills - Able to impart knowledge in an orderly manner;
    • Networking skills - Able to network effectively internally and externally;
    • Problem identification and solving ability  - alert others and offer pertinent solutions to problems;
    • SHE knowledge - Understand, and adhere to SHE standards and practices;
    • Manufacturing operation- understand the process streams and how quality control can impact manufacturing;
    • Quality Control knowledge - understand and execute quality control processes;
    • Supply Chain knowledge - understand the steps in Supply Chain.
