    SSE Administrator

    Position Summary

    • The Assistant SHE Officer will provide crucial support to the SSE Officer in the implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of the company's integrated Safety, Health, and Environmental management systems.
    • This role is ideal for an individual with a foundational understanding of South African SHE legislation who is eager to develop their practical skills and build a rewarding career in the field.
    • The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring compliance and promoting a proactive safety culture on the ground.

    Key Responsibilities

    Safety & Health:

    • Assist in conducting daily/weekly workplace inspections, hazard identification, and risk assessments (HIRAs).
    • Support the investigation of incidents, accidents, and near-misses in accordance with company procedures and relevant legislation.
    • Help monitor and enforce the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
    • Assist in the preparation and delivery of SHE inductions, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns.
    • Maintain and update safety files for sites and contractors, ensuring they are always audit-ready.
    • Participate in internal safety committee meetings and act as a secretary if required.

    Environment:

    • Support environmental monitoring activities, including waste management, water usage, and emissions control.
    • Assist in ensuring compliance with environmental authorizations and waste management licenses.
    • Help with the collection and management of environmental data for reporting purposes.
    • Promote environmental awareness and company sustainability initiatives.

    ​​​​​​​Position Administration & Compliance:

    • Maintain accurate and up to date SHE records, including registers for incidents, training, inspections, and equipment.
    • Assist in the preparation of monthly SHE performance reports for management review.
    • Stay abreast of new and amended South African SHE legislation and standards.
    • Provide administrative support for the SHE department, including managing documentation for the ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 systems.
    • Assist in preparing for and during client and external audits

    Qualifications and Experience

    Essential:

    • A relevant National Diploma/Degree in Safety Management, Environmental Health, or a related field
    • OR a SAMTRAC (Safety Management Training Course) certificate or equivalent.
    • OR a National Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (NQF Level 4/5).
    • 1 - 2 years of experience in a SHE-related role, preferably within the Food Manufacturing sector in South Africa, Including ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 certification.
    • A solid understanding of key South African SHE legislation, including but not limited to:
    • Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) 85 of 1993
    • Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act (COIDA) 130 of 1993
    • National Environmental Management Act (NEMA) 107 of 1998
    • Hazardous Substances Act, and others as relevant.
    • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
    • Excellent communication skills in English [and other relevant local languages].
    • A valid driver's license and own reliable transport.

    Millwright

    • The Millwright will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and continuous improvement of bakery production machinery and equipment.
    • This role ensures minimum downtime, optimizes plant performance, and supports safe and efficient operations in a high-volume FMCG bakery environment..
    • 3 years experience and Millwright trade test

    WHAT YOU WILL DO:

    Maintenance & Repairs

    • Perform planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and corrective maintenance on bakery equipment (mixers, proofers, ovens, dividers, conveyors, slicers, packaging machines).
    • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic faults to minimize downtime.
    • Ensure all maintenance is completed within set timeframes and according to OEM standards.

    Installation & Commissioning

    • Install, assemble, align, and commission new production equipment.
    • Modify existing equipment to improve performance and output.

    Fault Finding & Diagnostics

    • Conduct root cause analysis on breakdowns and recurring faults.
    • Utilize PLC and electrical control systems for troubleshooting.

    Compliance & Safety

    • Adhere to health, safety, and food safety standards (OHSA, ISO, HACCP).
    • Ensure proper lock-out and tag-out (LOTO) procedures during maintenance.
    • Keep maintenance logs and records in compliance with audit requirements.

    Continuous Improvement

    • Recommend and implement improvements to reduce costs, downtime, and waste.
    • Collaborate with production and engineering teams on efficiency projects.

    • 3 years post trade test experience in a FMCG environment
    • 100% compliance to statutory requirements, Operate within budget
    • Academic:N3 Trade test as a Millwright
