    Process Controller

    • The Process Controller is pivotal to maintaining efficient, compliant, and uninterrupted manufacturing operations. This role entails real-time monitoring of process parameters, executing timely adjustments to workflows and equipment, and promptly resolving operational disruptions. To ensure production resilience, the incumbent must demonstrate proficiency in operating all process plants, with mastery of at least two. Their technical oversight spans the entire production lifecycle—from raw material intake to final product output—ensuring consistent achievement of quality, safety, and performance standards.

    WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE

    Operational Excellence

    • Monitor and fine-tune production processes and equipment to maintain optimal performance, quality, and throughput. Provide timeous output to Process Engineers and Engineering team to optimisations and improvements. 
    • Record all process adjustments and communicate effectively with the process engineering team to ensure traceability and continuous improvement. 
    • Lead first-response efforts to diagnose and resolve process or equipment malfunctions, escalating complex issues to respective teams as needed. Tracking of breakdowns and ensuring that feedback to Shift Co-Ordinator. 
    • Ensuring that required material requests are fulfilled using the respective call off procedure. 

    Reporting & Documentation

    • Maintain accurate production logs, process condition reports, and compliance records. 
    • Review production data to identify trends, deviations, and opportunities for improvement, ensuring these are communicated effectively. 

    Safety, Quality & Compliance

    • Enforce safety, health, and sanitation protocols to maintain a compliant and hazard-free work environment. 
    • Conduct risk assessments and implement preventative measures to mitigate operational risks 
    • Ensure that all risks and observations are captured on Digital Systems. 
    • Ensure that all Quality deviations from specifications are captured with digital Emergency Work Orders (EWO’s) 

    Maintenance Coordination

    • Collaborate with maintenance teams to schedule and oversee routine servicing and urgent repairs, minimizing downtime and preserving equipment integrity. Providing insights to maintenance plans. 
    • Ensure that all breakdowns, deviations from baseline condition are captured with digital Emergency Work Orders (EWO’s) 

    Process Improvement & Innovation

    • Participate in cross-functional teams to develop and implement process enhancements and new production initiatives. 
    • Apply lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies to optimize workflows and reduce waste. 
    • Provide operational and process inputs for incoming projects. 

    Training & Development

    • Train and mentor new and existing staff on process control techniques, equipment operation, and safety standards. 
    • Promote a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and proactive problem-solving. 

    Environmental Stewardship

    • Conduct environmental monitoring and ensure production activities comply with sustainability goals and regulatory requirements.
    • Report and quantify any erroneous spillages, material losses and suitably support the response team.

    Experiences & Qualifications

    Essential

    • Qualification in National Diploma or Equivalent Chemical Engineering.
    • Knowledge of Process Plant Operations.
    • 2 years of experience in the Process Plant.
    • Experience of manufacturing in a Fast-Moving Consumer Goods Company. (FMCG)

    Additional Requirements:

    • Must be flexible within pattern of shift work to accommodate factory shutdowns, training courses etc.
    • Must be flexible to relieve other parts of the plant when required to

    Maintenance Planner

    • Collaborate with the operations department, engineers, foreman, stores and artisans to ensure an effective maintenance operation. You will be accountable for maintaining plant parts system that ensures the necessary parts are on hand to minimize production downtime and maintenance repair time.  In addition to working with vendors, entering purchase orders and all other transactions, this role includes learning systems, developing procedures, and training related personnel. You will work with the foreman and operations group (Artisan’s) to manage the work order and notification log. Specifically, the Maintenance Planner tracks the work orders and provides the necessary reports to enable the efficient completion of all work orders/maintenance schedule. The planner will be responsible for budget control and developing saving projects.

    WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE

    • Responsible for developing and managing the engineering maintenance schedules for the factory
    • Inputs and maintains the engineering master data on the CMMS (buildApp, SAP)
    • Identifies and implements improvements to the maintenance processes on site
    • Coaches and develops the CMMS and engineering planning skills of the engineering staff
    • Implement and define with Assistance Engineering and Foreman with the right PM implementation
    • Manage the parts inventory system, includes entering or supervising the entry of all parts transactions such as purchase orders, issues, returns, and inventory adjustments.  This also includes managing blocked invoices.
    • Liase with Engineering Storeman to maintain accurate inventory records & have the necessary critical spares matrix.
    • Provide management with the required reports
    • Help develop and maintain procedures for parts and work orders and ensure plant compliance with these procedures
    • Manage the work order system.  This includes entering or supervising the entry of all work order transactions and providing the required reports to management and maintenance
    • Utilises UMS to deliver the maintenance initiatives on site
    • Assist and recommend new projects and methods to minimize costs while ensuring accurate systems
    • Responsible for maintenance data capture (losses, cost, breakdown analysis, tag resolution.)

    WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

    Experiences & Qualifications

    • A minimum of a National Diploma or degree in Engineering (Mech or Elec) / or an N6 with a valid Trade Test in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Engineering.
    • Working knowledge and experience in FMCG/ Manufacturing environment will be an advantage
    • At least 2-5 years working knowledge and experience in managing maintenance schedules, maintenance budgets, improvements of maintenance plans and must have route cause analysis technical know how
    • In-depth working knowledge and experience in maintenance optimization and cost saving
    • CMMS (Planned Maintenance, Cost Control and Professional Maintenance model) experience, SAP knowledge is advantageous.
    • Proficient TPM (PM Pillar)/ Lean/ UMS and MS Project experience will be an advantage

    Unemployed Automated Packaging Learner

    JOB PURPOSE

    • This programme trains you to package products using automated packaging equipment while maintaining health, safety, and quality standards. You will develop business understanding, mechanical maintenance skills, and effective communication for line coordination and operation.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Perform general line operations and cleaning activities as per operational plans.
    • Conduct pre-start-up checks to confirm equipment and area cleanliness and safety in line with SOPs.
    • Monitor product and packaging quality against set standards; report any faults promptly.
    • Detect process abnormalities and take immediate corrective action to prevent escalation.

    Basic Operator

    • The Operator (Basic) is responsible for carrying out general line operations and cleaning regimes according to planned operational requirements in order to safely deliver a good quality packed product.  As a core member of the operations team the Operator (Basic) plays an important role in maintaining line safety and will identify process or line issues to leaders.

    WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE

    • Start-Up/Shutdown procedures - Carries out pre start-up checks to ensure that the area and equipment is clean and is in a safe condition as per the SOP.  Assists shutting down equipment and the area as per the SOP.
    • Cleaning –Performs initial inspection and cleaning as per SOPs.  Will alert team leaders to potential sources of contamination and dirt identified in inaccessible places.
    • Material Availability - Provides a continuous supply of appropriate packaging material from storage areas to demarcated storage areas as per existing 5S standards. 
    • Quality - Monitors quality against set standards and reports any product and packaging faults.  Detects process abnormalities quickly and takes emergency action to prevent them.
    •  Administration – Conducts effective hand-over activities and accurately records events that have occurred during shift (cases packed/rejects etc).
    • Safety – Full knowledge and understanding of all safe practices and systems relevant to the Sourcing Unit and the legal responsibility placed upon individuals.  Must actively contribute to the safe working environment.
    • Workplace Hazards - Full knowledge of workplace and hazards within it.  Utilise appropriate safety and environmental procedures for people, processes, materials, products and equipment relevant to the task.
    • Environment - Reduce costs due to waste and minimise impact to health, safety and the environment through working to eliminate waste and through the correct handling of waste and hazardous materials.  Must actively contribute to an eco-efficient environment.
    • Continuous Improvement – An awareness of how to use performance measures to identify and prioritise losses in production area; provides description of problems and can provide monitoring of process or line issues.
    • Teamwork – Must be a good team member capable of working within a highly effective team; responsible, supportive and reliable.
    •  Communication – Can adequately communicate issues relating to safety and can provide operational observations and inputs to support decision makers by team leaders.
    • Physical Ability – Operators require a level of agility to move quickly between workstations, ascend and descend steps often carrying loads.  Assembly and control operations also require a level of hand eye coordination and finger dexterity.  Monitoring and Quality assurance tasks require an adequate level of sight and smell.
