    Service Manager

    Job Advert Summary    

    • An opportunity has become available for an experienced Service Manager in the Agriculture industry, who will provide technical support to operations by ensuring availability of a large fleet of agricultural and road haulage equipment. The incumbent will need to take responsibility of the capital expenditure program by specifying and procuring new vehicles and equipment fit for purpose and specific applications, through implementing a continuous improvement program. Accountability will include the management of the department as a profit and loss centre and advising on cost effective preventative maintenance practices, so as to maximise asset life and availability. The role holder will keep the relevant General Manager and Regional Technical Manager aware of any relevant new equipment developments and assist in seeking continuous operational improvements. The role holder will also be responsible for the repair of plant, machinery and equipment and the quality control thereof.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Qualification: Technical Degree/ Post Graduate Diploma, Qualified Diesel Mechanic  (Trade Certificate is essential)
    • Experience in a similar role: up to 5 years
    • Knowledge of the transport, logistics and agriculture industry both operationally and technically

    Duties & Responsibilities    

    • Expenditure Control
    • Expenditure is within budget
    • Ensure that General Manager and Line Manager are kept informed regarding expenditures
    • Appropriate corrective action regarding cost exceeding budget is timeously taken
    • Compile and review annual budget
    • Monitor all workshop operations within areas of responsibility and ensure:
    • Vehicles are inspected after servicing and repairs
    • Quality standards are maintained
    • Vehicles are test driven after a service or a repair
    • Breakdowns are attended to timeously and breakdown analyses monitored to improve vehicle uptime
    • Quarterly fleet audits are conducted
    • Necessary arrangements are made when a vehicle accident or incident occurs
    • All legal requirements are complied with
    • The management of stores stock levels and the purchase of replacement parts and equipment
    • Stock checks are done randomly
    • Stock orders are signed
    • Close contact with suppliers of stock is maintained to ensure quality and service
    • Tyre maintenance standards are maintained, and spot checks are done
    • Weekly service schedules are compiled
    • The manage a service workshop which incorporates assets belonging to the Employer and / or Service Providers
    • Fleet disposal and purchases
    • Documents are checked for accuracy and the correct completion
    • Service board is updated daily
    • Manage the fleet maintenance programme
    • Manage the budget vehicle maintenance costs to acceptable levels

    Commercial Legal

    • Identify, manage and advise on legal and contractual risk;
    • Draft risk summaries to highlight risks in agreements;
    • Assist with tenders for different divisions;
    • Assist with contract management including timeous signing of agreements, following up on status of agreements, timeous renewal of agreements etc.

    Litigation

    • Assist in advising on appropriate action in variety of legal matters including labour, commercial and / or civil litigation and criminal actions;
    • Assist in co-ordinating legal matters requiring external legal assistance;
    • Assist in management of all company disputes.

    General

    • Provide strategic and practical legal advice and support to various business units to assist their operational teams to strategically deal with legal challenges within their operations;
    • Independently attend to legal research on complex matters and prepare concise legal opinions for consideration and implementation by the operational teams;
    • Keep abreast with new legislative and industry developments to provide general legal advice and support to various business units;
    • Compile reports on commercial legal and litigious matters for Executives;

    Bookkeeper

    Intercompany Creditors recons & payments

    • Print all accounts payable reports and prepare recon against age analysis

    • Sending remittance advises to suppliers after completion of the payment run
    • Filing of invoices, recons & Final audit reports after payment run.

    Intercompany invoicing

    • Ensure Pro-forma invoices are properly authorized and raise sales invoices to correct supplier and general ledger accounts.

    • Attend to all supplier queries efficiently
