    Senior Committee Officer

    Job description

    • The College Director: Professional Services ensures compliance with the required Acts and Statutes that govern the College, and with the institution’s policies, procedures and rules. Within the College Administration Office, is Governance and Administration, which monitors governance and compliance and provides administrative and secretariat support to the College and School committees.
    • The Senior Committee Officer will administer statutory College Committees, ensuring that the committee(s) comply with good governance practices, and ensure that records are maintained in keeping with current legislative requirements, rendering a high-level professional secretariat function to a number of college committees.

    Minimum requirements

    • Matric/ National Senior Certificate.
    • Bachelor’s qualification (NQF Level 7) in administration or other relevant field.
    • 2 years of experience as a Committee Officer, preferably within the Higher Education sector.
    • Competency in speedwriting/shorthand/touch typing.
    • Proven computer skills including word-processing, spreadsheets, Adobe Acrobat, MS Teams, Zoom.
    • Excellent command of the English language.
    • Good knowledge of committee processes and procedures within the Higher Education sector.
    • Possession of a valid driver’s license.

    Lecturer/Senior Lecturer: Discipline of Speech Language Therapy

    Job description

    • The School of Health Sciences wishes to appoint an Academic who will contribute actively to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and learning, research and community engagement. Candidates will also be required to perform administrative tasks.

    Minimum requirements
    General Minimum Requirements: (for both levels)

    • All applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in Speech Language Therapy
    • A Master’s degree in the relevant discipline
    • Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Speech Language Therapist
    • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office packages (i.e. Excel and PowerPoint)
    • Minimum of 2 years clinical experience as a Speech Language Therapist

    Minimum Requirements for Senior Lecturer:

    • A PhD Degree in a relevant discipline;
    • Evidence of appropriate teaching experience in a relevant field at the tertiary level
    • Evidence of current and sustained research publication record in quality scientific journals (A minimum of five publications in peer-reviewed SAPSE-accredited journals for Senior Lecturer)
    • A track record of successful supervision of postgraduate students at Master’s and/or PhD levels, appropriate for the level 
    • Demonstrated ability to apply for research grants, either as the Principal Investigator or as a member of a team

    Minimum requirements for Lecturer

    • Experience in teaching and learning, and assessment practices in a relevant field. This encompasses clinical supervision in either academic or clinical setting
    • Ability to make the necessary preparation and coordination of various teaching and examination schedules within the Discipline or clinical environment
    • Evidence of involvement in community engagement programmes
    • A successful candidate at the Lecturer level will be expected to complete a PhD within 5 years of the date of assumption of duty.

    Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer: Discipline Of Physiotherapy

    Job description

    • The School of Health Sciences wishes to appoint an Academic who will contribute actively to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, learning, research, and community engagement. The successful candidate will be required to perform some administrative work, such as, but not limited to, acting as module(s) coordinator.

    Minimum requirements
    Minimum General Requirements (for both levels)

    • Current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Physiotherapist

    • Minimum of 2 years clinical experience as a Physiotherapist

    Minimum Requirements for Lecturer 

    • Experience in teaching and learning, and assessment practices in a relevant field at a tertiary institution;
    • Ability to make the necessary preparation and coordination of various teaching and examination schedules within the Discipline
    • Evidence of involvement in community engagement programs.
    • A successful candidate at the Lecturer level (without a PhD degree) will be expected to complete a PhD within 5 years of the date of assumption of duty.

    Minimum Requirements for Senior Lecturer

    • A PhD degree in Physiotherapy
    • Evidence of appropriate teaching experience in a relevant field (musculoskeletal rehabilitation) at a tertiary level;
    • Evidence of current and sustained research publication record in quality scientific journals (A minimum of five publications in peer-reviewed SAPSE-accredited journals for Senior Lecturer);
    • A track record of successful supervision of postgraduate students at Master's and/or PhD levels, appropriate for the level AND
    • Demonstrated ability to apply for research grants, either as the Principal Investigator or as a member of a team

    Job description

    • The School of Commerce is organised into the disciplines of Accountancy, Economics, Finance and Management
    • The Dean and Head of School is part of the College Leadership and Management Team and reports to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Head of College although s/he ultimately represents Senate and Council mandates

    Minimum requirements
    Professor/Associate Professor

    • PhD/Doctoral Degree in a discipline relevant to the School
    • Evidence of established academic leadership and scholarship with an excellent publication and research record, and proven excellence in teaching and learning at a level that currently does/will attract respect and credibility from within the University, international scholars and other relevant external bodies; and
    • Three (3) years’ experience in management and leadership of a School and/or Faculty or Research Unit/Centre of comparable size and complexity
    • A track record of attracting competitive research grants

    Desired/ Essential Skills

    • Excellent communications skills
    • Exceptional interpersonal relationship skills
    • Understanding of the higher education environment in South Africa and the relevant legislation
    • Evidence of good knowledge of the SA academic and higher education environment
