Description

• As a Senior Software Engineer Team Lead you'll lead a team of Software Engineers with responsibility for the collaboration, coordination and communication for the squad.
• This is a hands-on software engineer role maintaining best practice code quality, design and architecture, and actively contributing to the larger codebase and technology roadmap. You will design, develop and implement solutions both on your own and in peer development style.

About the role

Team Leadership:

• Motivate and lead the team in a positive way including assisting them to become self-organised, take ownership of the products they work on and deliver on timelines
• Encourage, guide and direct Engineers in your squad
• Foster an environment of continuous improvement. Share ideas, learnings and technology with the team
• Be an inspiring leader – foster and encourage innovation
• Advocate the squad’s mission
• Work constructively to assist team members, supporting learning and growth and lead by good example
• Work with the Engineering Manager to encourage healthy team collaboration and communication processes such as code reviews, test shares, design discussions etc.
• Foster an agile mindset (e.g. incremental delivery, frequent demos)

Tech Lead / Software Engineer:

• Own the education and implementation of the tech stack
• Be accountable for the technical implementations of the squad
• Help guide a team of Engineers to deliver high-quality and innovative solutions
• Act as a Lead Engineer in the delivery of quality software architecture and code
• Maintain best practice code quality, design and architecture
• Act as the ‘final say’ in technical implementation discussions when required

Recruitment:

• Assist the Engineering Manager with recruitment of new team members. Involvement in technical interviews, selection, training and mentoring of the technical team
• Arrange induction into the team and mentoring of new members to ensure they are well integrated, trained and supported

HR Management:

• Dedicate time to people management activities including, employee support, team-building, and cross-squad communication
• Prepare and conduct staff performance reviews
• Ensure that team members are developing their skills and knowledge as best as possible, including providing coaching and mentoring, or recommending additional training where necessary
• Approve team member leave requests and ensure team coverage is adequate during critical times
• Contribute to team member performance reviews by providing honest and detailed feedback, and attending reviews as requested
• Make sure you have the right level of resource in the team

Communication:

• Act as a communication point to the team for other stakeholders in the business
• Represent team issues and concerns to the Engineering Manager and to external stakeholders
• Communicate early when timeframes are at risk
• Champion processes agreed to by the leadership team, provide honest feedback and contribute to these process designs when requested
• Report team progress to the Engineering Manager as required

Description

• Our infrastructure and security Platform Engineers collectively ensure that the Vista Cloud and VMS offering maintains the highest levels of service, security and availability for our customers. Utilizing internal systems to build, monitor, and alleviate issues in our hosted cloud environments, you will ensure seamless operational and security efficiencies, helping to establish a mature and effective security posture across Vista’s services.

About the role

• Service & Security Operations Management
• Shape and implement systems, processes, and methodologies to ensure effective and timely monitoring of Vista’s services
• Take ownership of, and lead the response to, suspected and confirmed security incidents – feed all findings back into system design as a cycle of continuous improvement
• Proactively assist in the delivery of high-quality security outcomes for Vista’s global operations, including conducting regular reviews of our security posture
• Product and Technical Support
• Remain current on all aspects of Vista Cloud technology, deployment, and operational processes
• Train internal support teams and act as the escalation point for queries related to security events, providing a resolution path for issues, whether hands-on assistance or simply direction on how to approach issue resolution
• Provide technical advice and assistance for staff across Vista on security incidents as needed
• Conduct regular reviews of work quality and throughput with the Head of Cloud Operations and other Managers (NZ and overseas), and drill down into the analysis of any problems where required to ensure consistency of approach and that standards are being maintained
• Provide advice to the Development Team on possible security remediations to software problems found by vulnerability tools
• Pro-actively work on increasing security scores and manage internal systems regarding security state / posture and maturity
• Additional Responsibilities
• Assist the Project Management Office (PMO) with Statement of Work (SoW) scoping and technical reviews and provide security advice to implementation teams
• Utilize appropriate tools to log requests with the services team
• Create material for monthly reports regarding Security state/ posture and maturity

Requirements
About you

• Azure or AWS Certification
• Strong Server Administrator Experience
• Strong understanding of Active Directory, Domains, DNS, DHCP
• Strong understating of IP / networking and enterprise architecture
• Strong understanding of firewalling, Security, and compliance related elements
• Knowledge of DevOps / Repo, deployment pipelines, and approval processes for IaC (infrastructure as code)
• Understanding of compliance requirements.
• Willingness to learn and grow into the IaC and security space
