    Artisan Gr 2 Mechanical Fitter

    Purpose of job

    • An Artisan Fitter supports production by providing effective equipment maintenance and reliability while adhering to procedures/codes and utilising all available support resources to increase stability and maintain sustainability of the plant and/or equipment.

    Core Business: Explosives Manufacturing

    Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities

    • Fault-finding and problem-solving on mechanical equipment.
    • General Pneumatic knowledge
    • Record-keeping.
    • Adherence to quality and safety systems.
    • Compliance of Safety Management Systems
    • Able to apply emergency procedures
    • Read, Interpret, and implement task risk assessment
    • Hazard identification/task risk assessments
    • Understand and use the plant maintenance documentation system
    • Service and general maintenance on mechanical equipment.

    • Experience working in an explosives environment will be an advantage
    • Pneumatic & Hydraulic fault-finding experience.

    Snr Explosive Plant Operator Gr 2

    Purpose of Job

    • To produce cast boosters by melting and mixing explosives to create a pentolite cast booster.

    Key Accountabilities

    • To produce pentolite cast boosters by melting and mixing two major components (TNT and PETN) to a certain ratio and pouring the mix in to forms.
    • Calculate mixing ratio using formula
    • Accurate mixing number of events need to take place (control temperatures, mix speeds, cooling period)
    • Recording of mixing event on mix sheet
    • Sampling to confirm mix ratio
    • General house keeping
    • Quality inspection, packing, labelling of final product and scanning. Record production quantities
    • To do a proper start-up before the beginning of the shift and a proper shut-down at the end of the week or when required

    Formal Education

    • Grade 12 or Equivalent with Maths & Science

    Minimum Experience

    • 12+ months relevant explosives manufacturing experience

    HR Consultant

    Purpose of Job

    • Implementing people processes; improving HR processes, practices and systems to achieve enhanced effectiveness and efficiency; and proactively supporting and educating employees and line management on HR processes.
    • Provides direct service and support to an assigned client base and ensures that standard HR processes and practices are implemented adequately in the client base, ensuring high levels of both efficiency and customer satisfaction.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Leads the implementation and execution of HR solutions in the assigned client portfolio with high levels of customer service and in compliance with set standards and policies.
    • Acts as a clear single point of contact for HR related issues.
    • Continuously contributes to increased HR process efficiencies in business, demonstrates an in-depth understanding of HR processes and highlights any inefficiency and recommends corrective actions to the relevant HR team members and management.
    • Support the provision of HR data and analytics through accurate and reliable calculations and reports. This includes using HR technology and systems to analyse and interpret relevant HR data.
    • Provide relevant analytics facilitating effective decision making based on empirical information and accurate data.
    • Compiles and presents meaningful HR reports through interpretation, comparisons and trend analyses.
    • Supports the recruitment and on-boarding of employees whilst ensuring a positive experience for new employees.
    • Takes an active part in the people selection process, in collaboration with the more senior Business Partners or HR Managers and the relevant line managers, facilitating an efficient and compliant process.
    • Manages the employment contracting, enrolment and on-boarding process for new employees.
    • Supports the implementation of Talent management processes as required and ensures these are executed efficiently. This may include educating line managers and employees on such processes and the desired outcomes, and making sure deadlines are adhered to and processes completed on time and generating accurate data.
    • Support Employee Relations objectives through compliance with procedural and substantive fairness requirements, providing assistance in providing a first line labour relations consulting service and ensuring accurate, relevant and complete documentation and system management.
    • Provides employees and line managers with a sound understanding of Compensation and Benefits principles, policies and procedures and can explain these in a clear and customer appropriate ways.
    • Executes accurate calculation of remuneration, rewards and benefits and assists with salary benchmarking and compilation of comparative ratios to ensure internal equity and external competitiveness.
    • Manages the efficient and effective implementation of staff movement (e.g.employee transfers, promotions, redeployment and rotation) and separation processes and procedures (e.g.resignation, retirement, retrenchment, dismissal, ill health, death and incapacity).
    • Implements clearly defined change management processes and facilitates the successful implementation of change projects, utilising necessary material to support line management and employees in adhering to change expectations. This includes coaching and educating line management and employees in respect of the practical application of the change processes.

    Divisional Commander

    Purpose of Job

    • Manage own work according to project plans/schedules and customer’s needs. Review, update and interpret applicable Sasol specifications, codes, standards, policy, national/international procedures and legislation and provide guidance to the project team.
    • Evaluate and ensure project compliance to relevant Fire Safety specifications, Legislation, Standards, Codes of practice and Philosophy of the Business Unit and Country in which a project is executed. Evaluate local Emergency Service response capabilities and recommend the minimum level of fire safety measures to be integrated into the plant design. Evaluate and approve fire safety design packages (both concept and detail),
    • i.e. Fire Plans, Fire & Gas system schematics and layout, Fixed Fire Suppression systems, Plant Layout and Spacing, Fire Water Demand calculations, etc.
    • Ensure site compliance to relevant legislative standards, practices and certification.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Review and update relevant Sasol specifications as required.
    • Ensure implementation of Fire Safety measures as part of front-end loading of all Projects, Engineering, Improvement & Transformation (PEI&T) projects.
    • Identify process fire risk by participating in PHA studies and studying consequence assessments conducted by PSM.
    • Interpret applicable Sasol specifications, codes, standards, philosophies, national/international procedures and legislation and provide guidance to the project team.
    • Identify Fire Risks on new process facilities and develop suitable fire safety solutions for “Out of the ordinary” fire risk conditions to ensure optimal fire safety for process plants.
    • Liaise with Local Authority Emergency services to ensure alignment between the Sasol facility and the local fire protection requirements.
    • Facilitate Fire Risk assessments for new process and associated facilities.
    • Participate in technical committees and work groups of the SABS and influence the contents of standards and codes to ensure that Sasol is aligned with the requirements thereof.
    • Liaise with Engineering Contractors, and their sub-contractors on Fire Safety matters of projects to ensure alignment. 
    • Conduct research on new fire protection methodologies and best practices regarding fire risk reduction solutions and introduce to project team where appropriate.
    • Representation of Sasol Projects, Engineering, Improvement & Transformation (PEI&T) Process safety to other stakeholders (including relevant committees) both internal and external.
    • Explore best practices in the fire protection arena by regular networking locally and internationally and present to relevant stakeholders.

    Formal Education

    • BTech/University Bachelors Degree (Fire Technology or Equivalent)
    • Valid Code C1 drivers’ license (Must)

    Working Experience

    • 7+ Total relevant years
    • 5 + years in petrochemical enviroment
    • 2+ years in Station Commanders position
    • Certification and Professional Membership
    • HPCSA Member in good standing (Wish) IFSAC Fire Fighter 2 (Must)
    • IFSAC Hazmat Operations (Must) Advance Petrochemical Course - (Wish)
    • Advanced Fire Prevention (Wish)
    • Fire Investigation (Wish)
    • Root Cause Analysis Techniques (Wish)
