S/He must have an in-depth understanding of clinical management of HIV/TB/STI clients as well as experience in health care systems in resource-limited settings for public health delivery, especially TB and HIV/AIDS programmes.

    Advocacy Officer_TG (Cape Town )

    Purpose of the position:

    •  The Human Rights Advocacy Officer is responsible for promoting, protecting, and advancing the human rights of key populationsspecifically transgender (TG) people within HIV, public health, and community justice programs. The role involves leading advocacy initiatives, strengthening community empowerment, monitoring rights violations, and engaging government, civil society, and health stakeholders to ensure equitable access to services, legal protections, and non-discriminatory environments.The Advocacy Officer will also be responsible for supporting the advocacy and engagement of stakeholders and players in the district of programme implementation.     Purpose of the position:

    • The main purpose of this role is to deliver safe, secure, and timely driving services to support the daily operations of the company. This entails transporting the outreach teams, commodities and equipment in mobile units to and from different locations, observing all road safety and traffic laws.     Purpose of the position:

    • To conduct out-reach activities to reach the TG community by providing accurate health information, mobilization of TG people to the mobile unit and linkage to care.     Project Coordinator/Site Manager_MSM ( Cape Town )

    Purpose of the position:

    • Coordinate projects to develop, implement, and support comprehensive programs for Key Populations, focusing on prevention, treatment, and care. These initiatives include addressing human rights violations and providing psychosocial interventions for Transgender (TG) People.
    • The Project Coordinator plays a crucial role as a key member of the Project Management Team, overseeing the HIV Prevention Project. This position involves a comprehensive range of responsibilities, including the effective administration, organization, and coordination of all project activities. The Project Coordinator ensures that the project's objectives—such as reducing HIV transmission rates and increasing community awareness—are met efficiently and effectively.
    • Additionally, the Project Coordinator is tasked with maintaining clear communication among team members, stakeholders, and community partners. This includes organizing regular meetings, monitoring progress against project goals, and implementing necessary adjustments to keep the project on track.     Duties and Responsibilities    

    • The incumbent is assigned all or part of the following responsibilities that are performed according to the needs and agenda:
    • The Site Manager will be the project lead at the site level of implementation of the HIV prevention project with support from the Programme Manager. S/He must have an in-depth understanding of clinical management of HIV/TB/STI clients as well as experience in health care systems in resource-limited settings for public health delivery, especially TB and HIV/AIDS programmes.
    • He/ She will proactively support all capacity building activities/ workshops for HIV prevention implementing sites to enhance the effective implementation of planned activities needed to generate data and statistics.
    • Work closely with and supervise project staff at implementation sites and ensure the strategic and functional integration of all technical areas needed for smooth implementation
    • Conduct daily supportive supervision visits to sites to provide on-site coaching of health staff whilst solving emerging challenges with implementation
    • Ensure timely and quality completion of all project technical deliverables at sites and report in accordance with project guidelines
    • Support the M&E Manager in monitoring and evaluation and provision of technical assistance to implementing sites
    • Liaise with all Stakeholders when necessary, towards the achievement of Organizational and Departmental Goals

    Social Worker_MSM ( Cape Town )

    Purpose of the position:

    • To provide professional and holistic social work services by assessing the needs of clients within the Key Populations Programme and implementing interventions and processes to meet these needs.
    • The social worker plays a central role in providing psychosocial support, case management, and community outreach to key populations, specifically Transgender (TG) People. The position ensures that KP communities receive stigma-free, rights-based, gender-sensitive health and social services, while also contributing to advocacy and empowerment initiatives

    Minimum Requirements    
    Education

    • Degree in social work
    • Proof of registration with the South African Council for Social Services Platform as a Social Worker 

    Experience:

    • At least 3 years’ experience working in the public health sector as a Social Worker.
    • Experience in administration and management.
    • Experience working with Key Populations in the HIV/TB Sector 

    Job requirements:

    • Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
    • SA Citizen or valid work permit to work in South Africa

    Duties and Responsibilities    
    The role of the social worker is to provide social support services, interventions or referrals based on the needs arising
    This includes:

    • Advanced adherence counselling and facilitates monthly adherence clubs and other appropriate support groups to improve ART and PrEP retention
    • Trauma and IPV counselling and referral
    • Mental health assessment and referral
    • Substance use assessment and referral
    • Review all human rights violations cases reported by peer educators, human rights ambassadors and advocacy officers, and assess case merits
    • Engage with clients who experienced/reported human rights violations and work towards resolutions of these cases
    • Assessing human rights violations and escalating relevant cases to paralegals for further action
    • Supporting paralegals and attorneys with additional information on cases as needed
    • Assess the clients’ needs, situations, strengths, and support networks to determine goals and appropriate interventions.
    • Refer clients to appropriate treatment centres, as indicated.
    • Monitor referrals to ensure that clients access services or support that they have been referred to.
    • Make recommendations on the best course of action for a client and/or family.
    • Organise/ Plan the appropriate package of support to alleviate distress and promote social wellbeing for clients.
    • Ensuring that all client files, and other records, comply with policies, regulations, and procedures.
    • Provide progress reports and participate in internal and external meetings.
    • Submit monthly activity reports as per workplan to the district level SR supervisor
    • Maintain and update databases or registers used.
