Purpose of the Job 

• The overall health & safety of the donor
• Medically screen donors, accepts or defers resulting in the collection of safe blood
• Ensuring professionalism and safe, hygienic conditions for performing successful blood collection
• All medical related decisions

Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements 

• Matric Certificate
• Minimum of a Diploma in Nursing Science
• Registered with the SA Nursing Council
• Venepuncture/Phlebotomy experience is essential 
• Previous Blood Transfusion experience would be an added advantage
• Computer Literate
• A code 8 driver’s license without endorsements

A combination of the following skills, knowledge and attributes is required:           

• Good interpersonal skills
• Have a friendly disposition and willingness to “go the extra mile”
• Accuracy in data collection
• Must be able to work as part of a team
• Skilled in customer services and the ability to deal with the public
• Previous supervisory skill would be an added advantage
• The working hours are variable i.e. shift basis, including Weekends and public holidays

Purpose of the job

To maintain an effective flow of the blood donor clinic by:

• Carrying clinic equipment to and from venues.
• Assembly of the clinic.
• Interacting with the donors.
• Preparing the donor for donation.
• Monitoring the donor during the donation.
• Ending the bleeding process.
• Dealing with adverse reactions.
• Transport staff and equipment safely to and from clinics.
• Registration and linking of donors.

Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements

• Matric Certificate
• A Code EB or C driver’s licence without endorsements and a valid PrDP with 3 years Driving experience
• Computer Literate
• The working hours are variable and shift work is required with some weekend work and call-outs.
• First Aid qualification (Advantageous)

• Well spoken, well groomed with good communication skills
• Possess excellent customer service skills and able to deal with the public
• Accuracy in data collection and attention to detail

Purpose of the Job

• To process all blood requests and all related queries sufficiently and effectively, and to perform other general duties as specified by the Manager - Blood Bank / Supervisor – Blood Bank.

Job description

• Perform Blood Bank technical procedures, which include patient sample testing, preparation, and issuing of blood products according to Work Instructions;
• Check and reconcile patient information provided against the request form, prepared product, computer data, and issue documents to ensure that the correct product is issued to the correct patient.
• Coordinate processes with reference to communication, checks, queries, document control, and record keeping.

• Registered with HPCSA in Blood Transfusion
• Computer literate
• The working hours are variable, shift work is required, with weekend work and call-outs.
