    Director of Protection Services

    Minimum Requirements:

    • NQF Level 8 qualification in Management/Business Administration with specialization in Security Risk Management or Security related qualifications
    • Grade A, PSIRA Registration
    • At least 10 years’ experience in Protection Services of which 5 years in senior management/supervisory capacity.
    • Knowledge in the security framework, crisis management at strategic and tactical level, investigations and technical security measures, conducting security vulnerability assessments, security operations management, including emergency and crisis management.

    KEY RESPONSIBLITIES

    • Provide strategic alignment of Protection Services and Traffic Control through development and implementation of strategic and operational plans on security and traffic.
    • Develops and implement security and safety policies and procedures such as emergency response and crisis management, disaster recovery, physical security and incident management.
    • Ensures financial and contract management through development of a budget for Protection and Traffic in terms of the University’s strategic priorities.
    • Provide team & stakeholder management through strategic leadership and advice on protection matters.
    • Ensures systems management by overseeing that the data are collated and captured to effectively manage the Protection services function, e.g. statistics on the number/nature of security incidents reported by campuses.

    Procurement Officer

    CONTRACT ROLES

    Minimum Requirements:

    • A Diploma in Procurement, Materials Management or an equivalent qualification (NQF Level 6)
    • Registered for CIPS at least have done level One (Preferred but not essential)
    • 3 years’ experience in procurement or supply chain management operations preferably in a large organisation or higher education institution.

    Summary of Duties:

    • Procurement of goods and services in line with the yearly procurement plan management (Demand management)
    • Execution of high value transactions and tactical and strategic sourcing contracts (Tender/Bidding process) Procure to Pay process.
    • Deviations (Limited Bidding, single source and variation orders)
    • Administration of Procurement contracts
    • Supplier liaison
    • Reporting

    Senior Lecturer - Faculty of Engineering & The Built Environment

    SENIOR LECTURER

    Minimum Requirements

    • Doctoral Degree or equivalent NQF level 10 qualification in Engineering, with an undergraduate qualification in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
    • At least 5 years of teaching/professional experience.
    • Evidence of research and postgraduate supervision, with at least 3 DHET accredited publications in the past 3 years.
    • Experience in General Power Systems, High Voltage Engineering, Electrical Machines, andEngineering Design.

    Additional requirements

    • Good communication and lecturing skills.
    • A strong passion for teaching and research.
    • Professional registration with ECSA.
    • Good research track record or relevant research experience and an ability and desire to advance research development in the department.
    • Eligible to start applying for NRF rating.
    • Evidence of some external funding.
    • Able to lecture subjects of Power Electronics, Electromagnetic Field Theory, Electrical Machines,Power Systems, and/ or High Voltage Engineering

    Summary of Duties

    • Teaching, assessing, and supervising at all relevant levels.
    • Responsible for at least two modules per semester in accordance with fair workload distribution. This may include one B Eng Tech Honours level module a semester after hours (part-time) once a week.
    • Development of learning materials and subject files for different courses.
    • Supervise B Eng Tech and B Eng Tech Honours projects and be actively involved in research and/or post-graduate supervision in the department.
    • Assist with administrative and other duties as prescribed by the Head of Department or representative as delegated.
    • To serve as chair of a specialty area on a rotational basis.
    • To lead, or contribute to, curriculum design.
    • To assist the department in the delivery of quality teaching and learning.
