    Instrumentation Aide

    MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Grade 12 / Standard 10 Certificate.
    • Code 08 (B) Driver’s Licence.

    Advantageous:

    • Operative Course Certificate.

    EXPERIENCE (including but not limited to):

    Advantageous:

    • 1-year practical trade-related experience in a heavy industrial/ mining/ plant environment.

    DUTIES (including but not limited to):

    • To render Engineering (instrumentation-focused) support to Instrumentation personnel to support mine-wide operations and meeting of production targets.
    • Perform Mini Risk Assessment prior to commencing with every task. Perform lock-out where applicable.
    • Works independently and under the supervision of the Mechanician. Receive request / job instruction from Mechanician. Assess job requirements. Locate spares and tools if available. Request stoppage of equipment if required. Request electrical isolation of equipment if required. Perform mechanical isolation and de-isolation. Perform requested work according to SOP. Test equipment if needed. Hand equipment back to production team. Complete job card and submit to Mechanician. Types of tasks performed independently: Cleaning and inspection of mass balance systems and cable installations. Tasks performed with the supervisor: Assist with the installation/maintenance of telephone systems and turnstiles, and maintenance of CO and fire control systems. Inspection of UPS and reporting of deviations.
    • Perform housekeeping task during and after completion of work. Cleaning and correct storage of tools.

    Instrumentation Mechanician

    MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Grade 12 / Standard 10 Certificate.
    • N3 Instrumentation Engineering.
    • Trade Test Certificate: Instrumentation Mechanician

    EXPERIENCE (including but not limited to):

    • Accurately and timeously report process equipment deviations to supervisor to meet / improve equipment availability and reliability targets.

Perform root cause analysis to address asset performance problems and or reduce cost. Assist in commissioning of modifications / projects. Ensure proper documentation of changes/modification.

    Senior Instrumentation Technician

    MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    DUTIES (including but not limited to):

    • Perform the asset care activities as required by the JDE system and procedures, including accurate and timeous feedback and documentation to all stakeholders. Continuously evaluate the Process Control Philosophy and initiate improvement actions to achieve asset performance targets.

    Fitter (Belt and Infrastructure)

    MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Relevant Trade Test Certificate with minimum N2.
    • Code 08 (B) Driver’s Licence.
    • TMM Licences “A” Dover.

    EXPERIENCE (including but not limited to):

    • 2 - 3 years practical trade specific experience in a heavy industrial/mining/ plant environment.

    DUTIES (including but not limited to):

    • To ensure maintenance, breakdowns are done on the production fleet. To ensure the equipment under his / her responsibility complies with the mine’s code of practice, standards and procedures.
    • Ensure workshop and working environment is always clean. Assist in ensuring the workshop's operational functioning.
    • Schedule and organise workload, spares, tools and resources according to projects, maintenance / breakdown schedule processes and procedures. Obtain permits and safe declarations to work, and related permits for work to be performed by complying with the required procedures related to work permits. Execute work against issued work order in a timeous and accurate manner. Complete work orders and return to supervisor for sign-off. Conduct daily inspections, whether scheduled or ad hoc, and record feedback on work order. Conduct planning of job shown on work order to ensure job is executed in shortest space of time.
    • Conduct mini risk assessment and lock-out procedure in own area of work and within span of control. Conduct inspections.
    • Perform asset care activities as required to project/maintenance / breakdown schedule including accurate and timeous feedback and documentation to all relevant stakeholders. Operate and maintain equipment in line with requirements of Code of Practice, policies and procedures. Adhere to manufacturer's (OEM’s) maintenance service requirements.
    • Ensure all equipment and tools are cleaned after use and stored in Storeroom according to labelling. Ensure that personal toolbox is in safe working condition. All equipment is inspected continuously to repair identified defects in time to prevent breakdowns, damaged equipment, injuries, and production delays and to identify future defects. Plan, order, collect and utilize parts to minimize production delays, due to equipment and machinery failure. Equipment is maintained pro-actively and serviced on a scheduled basis to ensure equipment availability and reliability. Breakdowns are attended to immediately to restore availability and reported to the Chargehand/Foreman and Control Room. Report and communicate unrepairable equipment to the supervisor.
    • Ensure effective teamwork and good communication by establishing interaction between members.

    General Manager

    MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • BEng Degree / BTech /BSc Mining Engineering / B-Tech Mining Engineering / BCom Degree.
    • Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competence

    EXPERIENCE (including but not limited to):

    • 10-15 Years extensive experience at senior levels in mine production environment of which 2 years in management role.

    DUTIES (including but not limited to):

    • To ensure a profitable, safe and sustainable mining operation by participatively crafting and driving a high-performance organisational culture and supporting strategy for the enterprise through a multi-disciplinary team of core production and support professionals.
    • Responsible for annual mine budget planning by compiling operational, capex and labour budgets for the mine and submit to executive for approval.
    • Review and authorise payments in line with approved budget and policy and submit for final processing
    • Identify strategic customers, partners and stakeholders to advance the interests of the business/mine and its community context/s, and forge constructive relationships by working within accepted codes of ethics and good business practice.
    • Craft participatively a mine strategy through appropriate environmental scanning and SWOT analysis, and review effectiveness of strategy by assessing relevant quantitative and qualitative performance data and indices across structure, people, work and culture, and initiate appropriate strategic refinement/change
    • Identify core executive-level competencies to align with organisational competency requirements to meet strategic and operational requirements by the development of meaningful KPAs and KPIs.
    • Ensure through executive-level systems of oversight, governance and direction of SHERQ activities and goals are appropriately derived from business plans, and broadly programmed for implementation within the specific core and support functions
    • Ensure executive-level systems of oversight, governance and direction high-profile change projects, initiatives, activities and goals for long -term organisational sustainability and profitability are broadly programmed for implementation within the specific core and support functions.

    Shift Overseer

    MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Grade 10 / Standard 8 Certificate.
    • Permanent Blasting Certificate for Scheduled Mines / National Certificate: Hard Rock Underground.
    • Shiftboss Certificate.
    • Code 08 (EB) Driver’s Licence.

    Advantageous:

    • Mine Overseer Certificate.

    EXPERIENCE (including but not limited to):

    • 5 years underground mining experience of which two (2) years must be in a trackless mining environment as a Supervisor.

    Advantageous: 

    • 2 years previously appointed or has acted/relieved as a Production Shift Overseer.

    DUTIES (including but not limited to):

    • Monitor and control the ore extraction process by allocating and managing resources (people, equipment and machinery) to attain the production targets, safely and cost effectively.
    • Section 2.15.1 legal appointment in terms of the Mine Health & Safety Act (Act 29 of 1996).
    • Ensure safe and cost-effective implementation of and compliance to the mining cycle process and procedures. Train/coach staff on the above mentioned, and conduct PTO’s to ensure competence.
    • Ensure constant availability of resources (people, equipment and machinery) to attain the production targets, safely and cost effectively. Keep construction up to standard by effective planning and scheduling thereof.
    • Immediately report accident/incident to Control Room and Senior Shift Overseer.
    • Investigate relevant issues. Completion of accident/ incident reports. Communicate and/or implement preventative measures. Follow up on implementation of preventative measures.
    • Perform relevant risk assessments as and when required.
