    Route Controller - Durban

    Job Description    

    • RCL Foods is recruiting for a driven, highly energized and focused Route Controller  within the baking business unit.
    • The suitable candidate will be responsible to performs tasks / activities associated with the transportation and sales of bread and confectionary. Calling on customers (traders and retail chain stores), taking orders and delivering mainly from vehicle -frequently for cash and new customer acquisition.
    • This role will be based in Durban and reporting to the Sales Manager.
    • This role is a Permanent role.

    Minimum Requirements    

    Education

    • NQF level 4/5/6, matric and preferably a diploma in sales or marketing.

    Skills

    • Ability to read, write, understand and communicate in
    • English.Good numeracy
    • Good computer literacy – especially Excel and e-mail

    Experience

    • Previous experience in supervising employees in sales environment, demonstrating good competence insupervision
    • Track record on sales delivery
    • Driver’s licence a prerequisite

    General

    • Expected to work over weekends and public holidays
    • Expected to work overtime as required
    • Expected to be on stand by and to come in to assist in the event of absenteeism.

    Duties & Responsibilities    
    Early Morning Shift

    • Assist despatch to ensure trucks loaded and despatched on time, prioritizing where necessary
    • Ensure all Drivers and VA’s are present and arrange cover if absenteeism
    • Daily communication on Whatsapp regarding any orders that had to be cut, driver changes,  absenteeism and late deliveries
    • Conduct crate count and report on Whatapp
    • Accurately complete register
    • Check crate sheet and follow up with drivers on outstanding balances
    • Meet with Sales Manager to discuss each day’s challenges, the next day’s planning and crate issues 
    • Liaise with Customer Service Centre regarding second deliveries
    • At Despatch, check on BOT’s (Bread on Truck), crate returns, bread returns and damages. 
    • Assist driver with action plan if necessary where BOT’s, returns and damages are higher than the norm  or if problems with crate losses

    Afternoon Shift

    • Handover meeting with Early Morning Route Controller
    • Follow up on second deliveries, ensuring they leave on time
    • At Dispatch, ensure correct procedure adhered to in terms of BOT’s, returns, damages and crate  returns
    • Verify earlier crate count
    • Ensure drivers are using the vehicle safe
    • Inspect trucks for any new damages/faults and report to Transport Supervisor
    • Ensure crate sheets being completed correctly
    • Train new drivers to follow the correct procedures
    • Ensure drivers place order with Customer Service Centre timeously and before cash up
    • Remain on site until the last truck arrives, ensuring the cash is deposited in the cash office safe
    • Report problems or changes on Whatsapp before leaving

    Route Rides

    • Conduct 2 route rides weekly
    • Complete Route Ride Analysis form per route ride and give feedback to Sales Manager within 24 hours  regarding the successes, challenges and threats on the route (pricing monitor; competitor information;  crates baseline; mileage; time taken, etc.)
    • Conduct Sales Analysis, using the data to inform action plans to increase sales and distribution  efficiencies
    • With the Sales Manager formulate a Sales Plan per route to drive volumes and customer satisfaction.
    • Implement the Route Sales Plan by utilising the Sales resources available including Sales Reps
    • Visit schools on routes to obtain participation in School’s Competition
    • Update crate sheet
    • Conduct follow up visits with Sales Reps and Sales Manager to ensure customer losses are minimised
    • Gain 5 new customers per route ride
    • Follow up on lost business and if possible, regain the customer
    • Ensure customers are experiencing good customer service and if not, take action to improve it
    • Look for advertising opportunities and liaise with Marketing to obtain sign boards or similar material
    • Where possible, facilitate COD customers to move onto JDE
    • Monitor competitor activities and take action to counter potential sales loss

    People Management

    • Set daily objectives for the drivers and van assistants, ensuring full productivity
    • Monitor employee performance weekly and give regular feedback, taking disciplinary action when  necessary and giving recognition where it’s due.
    • Conduct formal performance reviews twice yearly with all Drivers and VA’s 
    • Conduct team meetings with Drivers and VA’s at least once a month to hear about challenges and  concerns and assist to resolve the issues

    General

    • Must be willing to assist as a driver as and when necessary

    Senior Maintenance Planner

    Job Description

    • RCL Foods is seeking a Senior Maintenance Planner. The role will be based in Pretoria West. 
    • Purpose of the Role: To assist the clients (production and engineering) to continuously improve their overall equipment effectiveness, by implementing and administering effective asset management systems and procedures, particularly in the areas of information management, work planning & control, performance measurement, maintenance tactics and spares & materials through the effective delegation and management of available resources (employees/equipment).

    Minimum Requirements    

    • A recognised trade test (Fitting and Turner or Electrician- Preference will be given to Millwrights and Dual Trade- Electrician and Fitter and  Turner).
    • N4 technical qualification (minumum).
    • 2 to 3 Years’ experience in asset and asset care management Auditing experience
    • 5  years supervision experience is required.
    • Must have advanced skills in Microsoft Office- Namely MS Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint and Word
    • A working knowledge Computerised Maintenance Management Systems(CMMS). 
    • Essential - 5 years experience on Pragma Onkey 5 (Onkey 5 Plus)
    • Knowledge of Store Inventory Management Systems and techniques. 

    Duties & Responsibilities    
    Plans, schedules, and coordinates corrective and preventive maintenance activities.

    • As a planner will be required to accomplishes this task by studying and managing work requests; analyzing job requirements; and determining materials, equipment, and labour needs (such as blueprints, tools, parts, and ‘Artisans’ skill requirements) to complete maintenance economically and efficiently. The maintenance planner is the logistics person. He or she has the responsibility for removing non-productive time from the maintenance work force. His or her basic responsibility is to ensure that when the maintenance work is ready to be performed, there will be no delays during the execution of the work.

    Develops a weekly schedule and assists the maintenance Engineering Manager in determining job priorities.

    • The planner will make changes and adjustments to the schedule and work package after reviewing them with the Engineering Manager. The planner maintains a complete and current backlog of work orders. As work is requested, the request is given to the planner. The planner examines the request, plans the job, and reviews the job with the Engineering Manager or craft workers. Once the job is planned and approved, it is placed on the schedule. The planner reviews the weekly schedule with the Engineering Manager before the start of the work week. The Engineering Manager recommendations that require changes are incorporated into the schedule, and the schedule is then published by the planner.

    Ensures that the CMMS software data files are complete and current.

    • The planner does this task by gathering equipment and associated stores information for the entire plant or facility. The planner develops standardized codes for the equipment, stores, and task craft assignments for all maintenance activities. In short, the planner is the keeper of the CMMS software data files. The planner constantly reviews information being input into the CMMS for accuracy and completeness.

    Breakdown and Lost Opportunity Analytics

    • Analysis/ Interpretation of maintenance history and feedback report preparation (should include an analysis of all AMiP KPI’s and suggested actions).
    • Identifies, analyzes, and reviews equipment maintenance problems with maintenance engineering.
    • The planner revises the maintenance management program as necessary to improve and enhance plant and facilities operations. Since the planner maintains the work order system, any repetitive problems should be apparent to the planner. He or she then reviews repetitive problems with maintenance engineering team to find a resolution. At this level, the resolution typically will be adjustments in the preventive or predictive maintenance program. By adjusting these programs, the planner provides a solution to the problem. If the problem is not related to the preventive or predictive maintenance program, then the planner refers it to the Engineering Manager for resolution.

    Ensuring continuous asset management improvement through organizing of training for engineering personnel

    Drawing, documentation and modification control.

    • Ensure that the team is adequately staffed based on careful consideration of utilization and work backlog information.
    • Assisting in the continuous improvement, optimization (schedules reviews) and implementation of preventive maintenance tactics (usage-based, time-based, etc) via processes including OMM and root cause failure analysis.
    • Management of the engineering planning office and the equipment, documents and tools within it.
    • Meetings (daily & monthly) with the plant’s key personnel (engineering & production) to plan work, transfer information, make decisions and agree on action plans.
    • Assisting the further implementation, optimization and management of the Asset Management Improvement Program (AMIP).
    • Track maintenance initiatives such as leak registers, employee contributions w.r.t. area of responsibilities per artisan and ensure close-out.

    Maintenance Clerk

    Job Description    

    • RCL FOODS is seeking a Maintenance Clerk join our Baking Division. The role will be based in Pretoria West Bakery and will report to the Maintenance Manager. The main purpose of the job is to support and assist the Maintenance Planner and the Maintenance Department in all administrative, clerical, scheduling and engineering procedures and other tasks as assigned by the engineering management within the scope of the maintenance department.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Grade 12 or N3 or NCV Technical qualifications
    • 1 – 2 years’ maintenance clerk experience in an FMCG
    • Basic Computer certificate
    • A working knowledge Computerised Maintenance Management Systems(CMMS).
    • Knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint
    • An understanding of engineering machines components such as shafts, bearings v-belts, drives, contactors, conveyors etc
    • Knowledge of food safety standards is advantageous
    • Knowledge of Document control
    • Knowledge of safety and permit issuing

    Duties & Responsibilities    

    • Ensure all maintenance activities and data is captured on Pragma maintenance system
    • Create work orders whenever required to do so by maintenance personnel’s
    • Ensure data is captured related to electricity, water and diesel usage
    • Develop reports on maintenance efficiency, energy utilisation
    • Generate reports on outstanding work, maintenance efficiency, and status of compliance to SHERQ documentation system and audits
    • Ensure that all SOP’s related to the Engineering function is up to date.
    • Maintain and update Pragma maintenance system to aligned work performed by Artisans Technical assistant and contractors.
    • Assist Maintenance Planner, Senior Artisans, Engineering Manager and Production Managers in planning downtime on equipment for PM
    • Update Engineering SOP’s to ensure compliance with ISO 14001, 45001 and RCL Foods Quality System
    • Ensure maintenance documentation filing system is maintain and up to date
    • Ensure relevant equipment information on Pragma System to develop a comprehensive database of all Engineering related activities and usages
    • Adheres to standard operating procedures
    • Provide training to Engineering Staff on Quality, Safety and Pragma Management System
    • Provide training to new pragma users on how to create work orders on ONKEY pragma system and update training to the present users
    • Present engineering toolbox talks to engineering Artisans and Technical assistant
    • Ensure maintenance staff timesheet data is correctly captured on best time
    • Update maintenance schedule on Pragma maintenance system in conjunction with Senior Artisan’s and Maintenance Planner
    • Assist with capturing of job cards for all engineering works Set up engineering safety meetings and update minutes Constant liaison with SHEQ department on ongoing developments Manage NCAs and CARs and lead in driving their closing based on root cause analysis Constant driving of audit compliance issues including attending to audit meetings
