APPLICATION CRITERIA

• Bachelor’s or Honours degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field. 
• Inclination to complete relevant certifications related to ESG,such as CFA ESG, SASB FSA, CIPM, FRM, CAIA or similar

EXPERIENCE

• Graduate position to 1-2 years of relevant experience in ESG analysis or sustainability-related fields.

Monthly/Daily Tasks

Work with the team to:

• Plan and prioritise sustainability-related data analysis deliverables and projects.
• Handle ESG, Impact, and Risk & Performance data on a daily basis. ·
• Retrieve, validate, reconcile, analyse, and prepare data for quarterly ESG and Impact deliverables.
• Interrogate and analyse data to produce sustainability and Risk & Performance reports for clients. ·
• Utilise third party ESG providers to conduct research, analysis and produce reports. ·
• MSCI, Bloomberg, Sustainalytics etc. ·
• Interpret and analyse report results to provide input for advisory services to the client.
• Manually recalculate and verify statistics related to ESG and Impact reporting. ·
• Check reports generated by fellow ESG and Impact analysts.
• Provide ad hoc sustainability analyses and supporting output.
• Respond to sustainability report queries both internally and client related when required.

Work with the team to improve work practices:

• Suggest and generate ideas for the improvement of current ESG and Impact data collection, analysis and visualisation methods.
• Identify shortcomings in current work methods and processes related to sustainability reporting.  Contribute to the establishment of quality management processes specific to ESG and Impact.

Manage Performance and Career: 

• Develop career objectives and goals related to sustainable finance analysis, research, and training, with a desire to pursue them.
• Set annual work goals and regularly meet with the ESG Team Leads to discuss performance and progress.  Contribute to knowledge sharing and participate in special ESG and Impact projects.
• Act as a corporate citizen by participating in organizational discussions, events, and innovation activities.

Ad Hoc Research, Analysis and Insights:

• Assist with ad hoc requests across the various RisCura business lines, including ESG-related tasks and research activities.
• Assist in the writing of articles on ESG-related financial themes.
• Attend conferences and stay updated with industry trends, demonstrating a keen interest in ESG and sustainability.
• Collaborate with fellow ESG and Risk & Performance team members to achieve common goal

Key Responsibilities

• Strong attention to detail.

• Demonstrate a strong understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), National Development Plan (NDP) alignment, and ESG ratings and providers like MSCI, Bloomberg, Sustainalytics
• Knowledge of a wide range of sustainability-related frameworks, reporting standards, and guidelines including CRISA (Code for Responsible Investing in South Africa), SASB, TCFD, GRI, CDP etc.
• Analytical skills with proficiency in tools like Excel, SQL, PowerPoint, and other data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI is advantageous)
• Effective time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines
• Comfortable working under pressure and adapting to changing priorities
• Awareness of ESG industry trends. ·
• Clear and polite communication, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Other Key Relationships

• Collaborate with fellow ESG, Impact, and Risk & Performance analysts within the immediate team.
• Assist the broader analytics team with standard regulatory reporting for Hedge Funds and Pension Funds on a daily, monthly and quarterly basis.
• Offer cross-functional support to various business lines, including sustainability-related tasks, research activities, and a wide array of ad hoc requests.
• Interact with clients to provide ESG, Impact, and sustainability-related support and respond to their queries.

APPLICATION CRITERIA

• Undergraduate degree in Accounting preferred

EXPERIENCE

• 2 - 4 years’ relevant experience in investment management or related industry.

Monthly/Daily Tasks

Prepare deliverables including:

• Daily reconciliation of investment accounting records to different sources
• Monthly reconciliation of unitisation data to asset manager data
• Fund Fact Sheets
• Quarterly Regulatory reporting (e.g. SARB Asset Allocation Reports)
• Assist with resolving queries and escalations related to activities performed by the Fund Accounting and Reporting team.
• Attend client meetings, when appropriate, and in support of the Team Manager, to address queries related to the deliverables produced by the Fund Accounting and Reporting Team.
• Assist in preparing other ad hoc queries / reports.
• Assist with producing documentation of processes and procedures for the Fund Accountin and Reporting team.
• Work closely with and assist other team members in the Fund Accounting and Reporting team.
• Contribute to the shared knowledge of the team by attending training and sharing insights with team members.
• Contribute to internal improvement initiatives in own team and within the Invest department to ensure continuous business improvement.
• Perform user acceptance testing of enhancements and change requests on systems and applications used by the team as required.
