    Asset Analyst

    Main purpose of position
    Currently we are looking for an Asset Analyst in Cape Town, South Africa to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. As our Asset Analyst you will support the Finance and Asset Management team with the daily management of all commercial, contractual, regulatory and reporting obligations of a portfolio of Scatec Solar PV power plants in both the construction and operational phases.

    Main responsibilities 

    • Monitor project level profit and loss (P&L) activities to ensure that the power plants are delivering expected financial returns, analysis of P&L variances, Cash Flow Forecasts and solar plant budget review
    • Administer all project financing agreements including the monitoring of all payments of the plant
    • Analyse system efficiencies and identify opportunities for improved performance
    • Monitor maintenance and operations activities of the assets
    • Monitor the compliance in all contracts and activities
    • Provide assistance in due diligence process, including review of financial and operational assumptions
    • Maintain and manage all respective permits and licenses
    • Support Legal department in any legal action and coordinate claims
    • Contact the Off takers to resolve potential discrepancies
    • Coordinate with Finance team to ensure monthly accruals, GL entries and internal reporting are completed in a timely and accurate manner

    Qualifications and competencies

    • MinimumBachelor’s Degree in financial management or accounting
    • Proficiency in understanding and budgeting cashflows
    • Proficiency in understanding and budgeting on an accrual accounting basis
    • Proficiency in understanding and interpreting management accounts and financial statements
    • Proficiency in tax, corporate governance and contract management
    • 3-5 years working experience within project finance, financial management, accounting or financial analysis environments
    • Ideal: Professional qualification such as CA(SA), CIMA, CFA
    • Financial modelling certification
    • Knowledge of large-scale renewable energy projects would be beneficial

    Junior Accountant

    Main purpose of position
    Currently we are looking for a Junior Accountant in Cape Town to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future.  As our Junior Accountant you will execute the accounting and administration process for Project Companies with specific focus on: new SPV’s; existing SPV’s; be the SuperUser for Time & Travel (South Africa / Cape Town Office).  In addition, you will maintain and improve standard accounting processes and internal reporting; and facilitate implementation of a Shared Service Centre for payments and IC processing.

    Project Technical Manager - PV Facility

    Main purpose of position
    Currently we are looking for a Project Technical Manager - PV Facility in Cape Town, South Africa to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future.  As our Project Technical Manager you will be responsible for all the technical deliverables from project structuring through to technical handover on the PV scope of works for a dedicated project, or portfolio of linked projects. The desired end-result is to ensure that projects stick to a planned timeline, cost, and quality through smart project structuring and careful management of the full engineering process.  As our PTM you will plan, manage and facilitate all technical tasks and processes, with the assistance of the Engineering team, towards ensuring projects are structured and delivered in a technically compliant manner as required by the Project Technical Function.

    Main responsibilities 

    • Support to structuring phase of projects; this includes review and approval of technical supply contracts; managing and facilitating the design as per Solar Operating system; ensuring that the project programme considers the Design Timeline for commissioning, testing and local Grid Connection requirements
    • Support projects in delivery through to execution; coordination of engineering discussions with subcontractors and suppliers on all technical matters
    • Manage and assess design change requests for approval by the Lead Engineer and Project Manager
    • Ensure all technical standards are defined prior to construction
    • Regular site visits to ensure that construction is implemented as per design and in line with relevant technical standards and quality
    • Plan and manage technical resources throughout the execution stage to ensure resources are available as needed and notified timeously
    • Plan and manage the hot commissioning phase of the plant in coordination with the Site Commissioning Manager and Site Construction Manager
    • Support in project close out phase by preparing and gathering technical documents as needed to achieve TTO on time

    Qualifications and competencies 

    • Min:  Degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronical or Electromechanical Engineering
    • 7+ years of engineering experience, as well as project management experience
    • 5+ years’ experience in the renewable sector
    • Fluent in English, written and spoken
    • Ideal:  Project Management Certificate
    • Project Engineering experience
    • Master’s degree in engineering highly advantageous
    • Exposure to High Voltage Networks and Sub-Stations
    • Experience in LTA / OE workstreams
    • Good communication and team skills, with ability to work in a cross-functional team
    • High social and intercultural competence

    ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAM

    We invite all matric (grade 12) and university students to apply for the Scatec bursary program.

    This is an all-inclusive bursary offered to talented individuals who are planning to study full-time or currently studying full-time towards an undergraduate / postgraduate degree in selected Engineering qualifications. To be considered, you must be a South African citizen, currently registered or qualifying for possible registration at an approved South-African University the following year.

    Applications may be submitted for degrees (no diplomas) in one of the following fields of study:

    • Electrical Engineering (B.Eng)
    • Electronic Engineering (B.Eng)
    • Mechanical Engineering (B.Eng)

    Senior Civil Engineer

    Main purpose of position
    Currently we are looking for a Senior Civil Engineer in Cape Town to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. As our Senior Civil Engineer you will manage, coordinate and evaluate all tasks and designs related to geotechnical, hydrological, civil, structural aspects of projects in various stages of development, execution, and operations to various business units within the organisation. Support to engineering manager and managing junior to medium level engineers and draughtsmen.

    Main responsibilities 

    • Lead the geological, topographical, and hydrological due diligence tasks
    • Lead review of hydrological, geotechnical, structural and roads risks at development phase
    • Identify country specific Civil risks and constraints
    • Conduct due diligence investigations on civil related packages to ensure risks and opportunities are identified to be implemented in the detail design
    • Support Supply Chain Management on compilation and evaluation of RFP documents (technical specifications and bill of quantities), then lead engagement with suppliers to clarity the responses
    • Support Execution Team with planning and alignment of technical aspects of the project
    • Ensure that all civil design information identified throughout the structuring phase is implemented in the detail designs
    • Supervision of Pull-out tests during development or structuring phase

    Qualifications and competencies 

    • Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering
    • Professional Engineering Registration (or similar Chartered Engineer registration)
    • Design management of complex Civil infrastructure (foundations, drainage, roads and buildings)
    • Understanding of Resident Engineer management of complex Infrastructure projects
    • Sound knowledge of CAD, SAP 2000/ STAAD Pro (or similar numerical modelling software) and GIS software
    • Sound knowledge of three of the following: (hydrogeological, Geotechnical, Structural or Roads/Pavement engineering)
    • Plaxis/Rocscience/ AutoCAD civil 3D /Prokon knowledge (or equivalent numerical and stress deformation analysis)
    • Understand all relevant contracts (FIM, EPC, O&M, Grid Connection, PPA, etc) and ensure compliance with all contractual requirements
    • Ability to prepare reports in line with relevant quality requirements and communicate/ present findings in a good way, adapted to the audience of the report/presentation. Communicate effectively with other departments, external parties such as suppliers, contractors, lenders and management. 
    • Possess the ability to review site conditions and prescribe suitable site intrusive, geophysical, hydrological, topographical survey and laboratory testing programs to de-risk the project in the development and structuring phases.

    Senior Electrical Engineer

    Main purpose of position
    Currently we are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer in Cape Town, South Africa to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future.  As our Senior Electrical Engineer you will manage, coordinate and lead all tasks and design activities towards delivering a technical compliant project; take ownership and responsibility to ensure all technical / contractual requirements are considered and implemented enabling the successful completion of the projects.  You will be required to support the development and operations of projects through technical assessments / investigations, due diligence studies and designs by engaging the various business units and relevant external stakeholders.

    Main responsibilities

    • Provide continuous input towards improvement and optimisation of the operating system
    • Conduct or approve preliminary yield assessments accurately and timeously based on the information provided
    • Manage, coordinate and compile the complete system design package
    • Review and evaluate technical documentation and contracts (PPA, Grid Code, Connection Agreement, etc.)
    • Support Supply Chain Management on compilation and evaluation of RFP documents and supplier responses
    • Ensure that all relevant design information identified throughout the structuring phase is implemented in the detailed designs issued for construction
    • Support in stakeholder engagements (utility, LTA, suppliers, contractors, etc.) to establish requirements, resolve matters critical to reaching Financial Close
    • Assist in establishing and evaluating quality expectations and documentation during construction
    • Conduct site visits to monitor and ensure design expectations are implemented
    • Support in project close out phase towards TTO
    • Investigate and implement solutions towards improving relevant operational / functional systems within the project

    Qualifications and competencies 

    • Degree:  Electrical / Electronical / Electro Mechanical Engineering
    • Min:  7+ years' electrical / electro mechanical engineering
    • Ideal:  Masters' degree in Engineering
    • Further studies in Renewable Energy
    • Project Engineering Certificate
    • Fluent in English, spoken and written (additional languages advantageous)
    • You are used to changing environments and to quickly meet new challenges
    • Excellent report writing skills
    • Sound knowledge of contracts related to energy generation projects
    • Good understanding of Utility interfaces and stakeholders
    • South African passport holder with a South African Identity document

    Senior Project Developer

    Main purpose of position
    Currently we are looking for a Senior Project Developer in Cape Town, South Africa to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. As our Senior Project Developer you will be responsible for the development and structuring of Renewable Energy Projects from early opportunity through the development cycle to financial close.     Main responsibilities

    • Support the Negotiations for Project Acquisition and manage the acquisition/transaction process  
    • Support the Process to secure equity and debt finance for projects until financial close
    • Support the Negotiations with prospective development partners and assume responsibility for external relatioships
    • Plan and Coordinate internal and external project development activities including securing land rights, obtaining required local permits and approvals, securing interconnection rights from utilities 
    • Undertake market reviews, analysing regulatory issues and policy supports for utility-scale renewable energy projects and develop development strategies for countries or regions
    • Participate in bidding processes to submit bid packages in response to Request for Proposals (RFPs) from utilities and private off-takers

    Qualifications and competencies 

    • Environmental, Legal, Commercial or Technical university level degree
    • 2 - 5 years professional experience ideally from Environmental, Project Development, Engineering companies or consulting firms, Renewable Independent Power Producers
    • Experience with permitting of renewable energy projects
    • Basic Understanding of Power markets and in particular renewable energy
    • Working knowledge and understanding of power purchase agreements, interconnection agreements, and EPC contract terms and conditions is preferable, but not required
    • Basic Knowledge of business fundamentals and financial analysis
    • Knowledge of RE Development Regulatory Framework in South Africa.
    • Expert level of proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including presentation software and Excel

    Senior Project Planner

    Main purpose of position
    Currently we are looking for a Senior Project Planner in Cape Town, South Africa to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future.  As our Senior Project Planner you will provide complete project planning and scheduling support to the projects in line with all core processes, procedures, templates, and tools as described within SCATEC.

    Main responsibilities 

    • Follow guidelines and prescribed structures as outlined by the Operating System and provide continuous input and improvement thereof
    • Compile high level timeline for Opportunity / Development as required by Business Development
    • Provide resource (Man-Hours) estimation
    • Compile / Prepare overall master project program (schedule) for Delivery phase integrating the standard Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
    • Prepare planning related contract schedules for head EPC, all suppliers and contractors’ contract documents
    • Support Supply Chain team with quotation documents, final Purchase Orders, contract, and tender evaluations i.e. reviewing and analyzing the schedules from contractors, manpower and machinery
    • Support project manager with Gate Review planning and preparation
    • Compile Programme Memorandum Basis incorporating all the necessary information relevant to the Project
    • Update the project schedule based on work achieved, baseline updates and reporting, as well as providing forecast to Supply Chain/Logistics/Engineering/PM on upcoming and critical activities
    • Liaise with Estimating and/or Cost Disciplines to ensure proper alignment between Cost/Estimate and Schedule
    • Coordinate schedule from multiple contractors and incorporate the information gathered into the overall project master schedule

    Qualifications and competencies

    • Min:  Degree: Civil or Industrial Engineering 
    • Formal Technical Qualification (Engineering, Project Management)
    • Ideal:  8+ years of project planning and scheduling experience in an EPC organization
    • Contract Management knowledge in FIDIC
    • Experience with Hydropower or civil construction projects
    • Experience with renewables projects
    • Experience with construction of high voltage networks and sub-stations is a plus
    • Fluent in English, spoken and written (additional language advantageous)
    • You are used to changing environments and to quickly meet new challenges
    • Advanced knowledge of Planning Tools (Primavera, MS Projects, MS Office)
