Junior Accountant at Scatec ASA

Main purpose of position
Currently we are looking for a Junior Accountant in Cape Town to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future.  As our Junior Accountant you will execute the accounting and administration process for Project Companies with specific focus on: new SPV’s; existing SPV’s; be the SuperUser for Time & Travel (South Africa / Cape Town Office).  In addition, you will maintain and improve standard accounting processes and internal reporting; and facilitate implementation of a Shared Service Centre for payments and IC processing.

Main responsibilities 

• Processing cashbooks for several group companies
• Prepare bank reconciliations for several group companies
• Prepare monthly supplier reconciliations
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations
• Prepare monthly journal entries
• Prepare invoices for issue to customers
• Reviewing of invoices for compliance, e.g. VAT, company details, purchase order
• Management and updating of training manuals for all Time & Travel
• Monthly analysis and control of hours submission for the Southern African region

Qualifications and competencies 

• Min: Diploma/Degree in Finance or Accounting
• Solid Microsoft Excel experience
• Understanding of finance function and sub-processes
• Ideal: More than 3 years bookkeeping / accounting experience
• Preparation of basic trial balance is a must
• Being flexible and experienced with ERP systems would be advantageous
• Fluent in English, spoken and written 
• You are used to changing environments and to quickly meet new challenges
