    Officer: Export

    Purpose of Role:

    The successful candidate will provide administrative support to the Exports department pertaining to accurate capturing of customer orders and executing of export shipments (Multimodal) on the system and ensure proper maintenance of relevant documentation according to set or correct procedures.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide quotations to customers on request
    • Order processing and orderbook management
    • Effective processing and management of Export documents, order updates to customers via mail and weekly conference calls
    • Coordinate timely dispatch of orders to customers
    • Liaising with WEIR Minerals regional & internal colleagues to expedite orders. Timely resolution of queries is of critical importance
    • Assist other team members when and as necessary or as required by management
    • Contact freight forwarders and request export documentation and proof of delivery
    • Tracking of shipments as per INCOTERM
    • Scan proof of export documents onto electronic storage
    • Update and close export shipment files
    • Maintain register of closed and pending export shipment files
    • Archive completed export shipment files
    • Manage reporting on KPI’s such as, velocity, GDNI and GIT
    • Prepare business cases for new implementations / technologies
    • Provide technical insight to the field of Exports
    • Be able be to present ideas formally via presentations to a high level audience
    • Adherence of all SHE and housekeeping requirements
    • Adhere to Duty of Care Policy at all times

    Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications: 

    • 3-5 years related experience
    • Logistics & Freight Industry
    • Import & Export
    • Thorough knowledge of International Trading Terms (Incoterms)
    • Thorough Knowledge of Customs regulations and shipping procedures (into Africa by Sea/Air/Road)

    Tax Manager

    Purpose of Role:

    The Weir Tax Manager supports the Regional Financial Director and Group Head of Tax in developing and implementing a regional tax structure that minimises tax risk within the Region. This includes planning and compliance with significant emphasis on transfer pricing.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Leadership: Fosters an engaging work culture by encouraging innovation, teamwork, and personal commitment.
    • Compliance: Manage compliance, audits, controls and processes of all taxes, direct and indirect, in all geographies in the Region (Africa and Middle East). Ensure compliance, appropriate structuring and planning together with tax risk identification and management as well as internal controls in relation to scope of responsibilities in tax.
    • Reporting:  Ensure monthly, half yearly and annual reporting cycles and budget and quarterly forecasting cycles for accurate, fair, and timely submissions of financial information to Group Finance. Manage tax accounting processes including monthly computations and Annual Financial statements.
    • Communication:  Liaise with External Auditors and Tax Authorities across the Region to resolve any issues and address audits. Build and maintain network of advisors in the Region and assist the broader business with required advice relating to taxation for current operations and future operations.

    Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications: 

    Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered for candidates that have the ability to perform the objectives above.

    • Degree in Accounting (BCom, or similar) and Degree in Taxation or equivalent
    • 5 -10 years Post Qualification Experience in a Tax Accounting Role
    • Understanding of Transfer Pricing, identification of affected transactions and Transfer Pricing accounting.
    • A strong knowledge of African tax issues and practical tax compliance experience is essential.
    • Proven experience in managing Tax Audits in at least 4 of the countries within the Region.
    • Relationship with Advisory network essential.
    • Experience of other tax jurisdictions would be advantageous.      
    • Proven management skills with the ability to optimise team performance and development.
    • Strong communication, and interpersonal skills
    • Strong analytical skills and problem solving abilities and business acumen.
    • Commercially and financially aware with experience of managing budgets.
