The ideal candidate would be responsible for:
- Maintaining and complying with the South African National Standard, SANS 10142, wiring code;
- Ensuring that risk control standards are maintained;
- 20 Keys program HACCP, Risk control, OHS Act, EFIS and all other audit requirements in processing plant must be adhered to at all times;
- Being present at start up and ensuring that all start up procedures are followed;
- Ensuring that all shut down procedures are adhered to after the end of the last shift of the week or before public holidays;
- Liaison with other electricians regarding outstanding maintenance, projects, time keeping, safety matters, security and all other matters that is related to the maintenance team;
- Routine maintenance on processing equipment;
- Dealing with all unscheduled processing interruptions resulting from breakdowns;
- Installation and maintenance of processing equipment;
- Management of all resources to the maximum benefit of the company;
- Maintaining housekeeping standards.
The successful candidate must meet the following requirements:
- Must be a Qualified Electrician (Red Seal);
- A Wiremen’s License will be a distinct advantage;
- At least a N4 Theoretical Electrical Certificate;
- Previous experience in the electrical maintenance/repair of Poultry processing and rendering plant equipment will be a distinct advantage;
- Must be a team player;
- Willing to work shifts and overtime;
- Fluent in English and an additional official language;
- Ability to work in a highly pressurized environment and deadline driven;

The ideal candidate will be responsible for:
- Effective implementation, maintenance and continual improvement of the Food Safety Management System, Animal Welfare practices, Risk Management System, Environmental Management System and Occupational Health and Safety, encompassing all relevant legal compliance requirements in conjunction with Astral operational policies and procedures.

Key activities and responsibilities of this position:
- Responsible for physical and financial system stock control of finished product stock at Internal and and External Cold Storage facilities
- Report back on a daily, weekly and monthly basis to Management on all operational related activities.
- Responsible for internal and outbound logistics function to and from the Cold Store including co-loading, ensure that all stock movements are controlled, thereby ensuring compliance to County Fair / Astral Operations policies and applicable laws are adhered to
- Management of subordinates and coordinating functions thereby ensuring accurate and timeous holding of the correct stock at all times across all shifts
- Managing the integrity of stock through ensuring that all stock movements have the required paperwork (managing the administration function through the allocated resource)
- Ensuring that the required stock cycle counts are performed accordingly, in conjunction to monthly stock counts that must be in accordance with policies and SOP’s
- Manage relationships with service providers
- Ensure service levels to internal (Epping / Hocroft / Outside Cold Storage facilities) and external (retail / wholesale / trade) customers, > 98% on-time delivery strike rate
- Enforcing best practice via implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and management of entire staff complement accordingly
- Report to management on daily / weekly / monthly logistics / distribution issues and opportunities for improvement via KPI measurement and reporting, assisted by using 20 Keys
