    Launch Trainer

    Key Responsibilities

    • Responsible for supporting TX-R-45 with the Launch and special vehicles Assembly within the agreed objectives (quality, cost, quantity, on-time delivery).
    • Responsible for supporting TX-R-45 with the required operations and for operating equipment.
    • Responsible for supporting TX-R-45 with the F2-responsibility for the Launch and special vehicles Assembly.
    • Responsible for supporting TX-R-45 with all activities regarding Launch and special vehicle projects from F0 to F2 including reaching the project targets and implements measures for ensuring the production targets based on the escalation principles.
    • Responsible for supporting TX-R-45 and the product line (Lx) with the technical integration of the car derivatives run-ups (x) by further advancing the targets of the production concept and the product design in the plant network.
    • Responsible to develop all necessary training material and fully train all Assembly Associates on the theoretical and practical aspects of how to assemble the new car, ensuring their competence.
    • Responsible to monitor, track and report the training status for their area.
    • Ensure the maintenance of all training material and tools as changes occur.
    • Responsible to support the trained Associates to build the first cars (T Cars) and later as volume ramps up.
    • Responsible to train the Offline Reworkers on the product to ensure effectiveness of reworking.
    • Responsible for Offline rework support when required.

    Qualification and Experience

    • National Diploma – Technical Trade Test and N6.
    • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Automotive or related field.
    • Detailed product experience.
    • Production experience.
    • Knowledge of BMW systems, processes and requirements.
    • Team / project leadership skills

    Quality: 

    • To support the team in achieving all Product, Process and System Quality targets (as per the Target Commitment Process)
    • Ensure all required records and documentation are retained and updated
    • Ensure adherence to ISO 14001
    • Responsible for ensuring all equipment is maintained and repaired to the required quality standards (without supervision)
    • Instigating changes to ensure quality improvements in the maintenance work done
    • Together with support staff, set the required quality standards for maintenance work

    Flexibility:

    • Support the production team in achieving the Production volume, by quick response to breakdowns
    • Commissioning equipment to ensure smooth production
    • Adhere to the required shift pattern to ensure optimal support to production
    • Needs to develop to ensure good support in all fields of the BIW environment (i.e. electrical and mechanical)
    • Needs to develop skills in such a way that specialist tasks can be performed in more than one of the specialist technology groups
    • Perform maintenance actions after hours as required to support production
    • Ensure all breakdowns are resolved before handing over equipment to the following shift (extra work time)
    • Needs to stand in for Team leader when required
    • Responsible to perform plant testing and commissioning on weekends

    Productivity:

    • Support manager and implement measures to achieve Budget, Headcount and Equipment Productivity targets
    • Eliminating equipment failure by means of preventative maintenance
    • Gaining all required knowledge of the plant and equipment to ensure that first-hand information is available at all times
    • Optimize and continuously improve equipment and systems to optimize product quality, plant availability and reliability
    • Scope of equipment responsibility, all BIW specific equipment.
    • Fault finding on integrated systems
    • Needs to sustain specialized skills in assigned technology group and advanced skills in all other technologies
    • Needs to develop contact to the other BMW Manufacturing Plants to ensure technology specific synergies are optimally utilized
    • Needs to plan optimum usage of available spares / equipment during breakdowns and preventative maintenance actions to the advantage of the plant
    • Adherence to maintenance/production rules of conduct

    Human Resources:

    • Support the team in achieving the Human Resource targets
    • Share knowledge freely with all colleagues to ensure growth in team skills
    • Develop training sessions and give the training on the specialized technology
    • Take ownership for personal / soft skills development

    Environment:

    • Assist management in achieving the Environmental (ISO 14001) targets and conform to all BMW standards and procedures
    • To ensure that all work is performed competently and in accordance with BMW specifications, the OHS Act and ISO 14001.
    • To ensure that all equipment and work areas are safe at all times to prevent accidents or injury to personnel.
    • Ensure that equipment is maintained in accordance with safety regulations.

    What should you bring along?

    • Minimum N4 or National diploma
    • Grade 12 and N4 with Trade Test in the following discipline:
    • Panel Beater
    • Minimum of 3 years related experience in electrical & mechanical maintenance, in an automated production environment.
    • Problem Solving skills.
    • High level technical and analytical skills
    • Specialized knowledge and experience on automated systems
