    Registered Nurse

    Summary

    • The Registered Nurse will render and promote cost effective, safe quality patient care in accordance with hospital standards and policies. As a Professional Practitioner, the incumbent also is responsible for and is held accountable for his/her own acts and omissions
    • The incumbent will further be responsible for direct and/or indirect nursing care of a patient or a group of patients, for assessing, planning, executing, and supervising the implementation of care to meet patient needs
    • Is a role model in the delivery of evidence-based care and will actively participate in clinical governance, auditing of health records to ensure compliance, ensuring all stock is well controlled and managed, charged and credited appropriately, effective risk prevention and management, manage acuity and skill mix to ensure appropriate level of care

    Requirements

    • Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse/ Midwife
    • Relevant qualification within a specialist area will be advantageous
    • + 1 - 5 Years working experience in same position
    • Compliance with the SANC code for a Registered Nurse and all applicable health care legislation

    Work Experience

    • Working experience in private healthcare or healthcare funding industry will be advantageous
    • Experience with cardio-thoracic or ventilated patients essential
    • Capacity to implement and maintain standards of health practice required from all accredited bodies and appropriate health legislation

    Knowledge

    • Computer Literacy essential
    • Fluent communication in English essential
    • Nursing standards

    Deputy Nursing Manager

    Summary

    • The Deputy Nursing Manager will be responsible for the coordination of functions and activities related of the provision, promotion and assurance of quality patient care. This include acquisition of nursing staff; professional development of nursing staff; delivering of quality patient care; client relations management; implementing quality improvement strategies; managing risks; financial management related to nursing costs, capital budget and operational budget

    Key work outputs and responsibilities:

    • Manage all related nursing services and activities according to the Busamed Mission Statement, policies and protocols whilst always upholding the Busamed Values
    • Ensure Nursing standards, quality assurance and mitigation/management of all actual and potential risk
    • Effectively contribute to and influence the provision of cost-effective quality nursing care
    • Active participation in asset management, operational and capital budget and clinical governance
    • Manage all Nursing costs in a collaboration with all key stakeholders
    • Facilitate effective change and conflict management whilst actively promoting innovation and staff participation
    • Promote retention and wellbeing through relationship building with all staff and key stakeholders
    • Actively participate in Transformation and the development of nurse leadership
    • Promote patient and physician satisfaction

    Requirements

    • Candidate must be a qualified Professional Nurse registered with the South African Nursing Council
    • Administration/Management qualification is essential
    • Post-Basic Clinical qualification in a specialised unit would be advantageous

    Work Experience

    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Unit Managerial or similar position within private hospital environment
    • Capacity to implement and maintain standards of health practice required from all accredited bodies and appropriate health legislation

    Knowledge

    • Relevant experience in the nursing discipline
    • Independent, innovative and team-oriented
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills at all levels
    • Excellent administration and organization skills
    • Strong leadership and management abilities

    Case Manager (Re-advertised)

    Summary

    • The Case Manager will be responsible for the liaison between the patient and medical aids in order to secure payment for the hospital. 

    Requirements

    • Grade 12 or equivalent NQF level 4 qualification
    • Diploma in Nursing is essential 

    Work Experience

    • Previous Case Management experience advantageous
    • Intermediate computer skills (Excel and Word)
    • Excellent Interpersonal and communication skills
    • Knowledge of Medical Aids
    • ICD & CPT Coding would be advantageous 

    Knowledge

    • Ensure all the relevant details on Hospital Billing System are updated and are accurate
    • Supply all details regarding patients’ history to Clinical partners
    • Monitor and control costs for Managed Care Organisation patients
    • Confirm length of stay for all Managed Care Organizations patients
    • Accompany Managed Care Organisation Case Managers on ward rounds in the hospital
    • Assist with final authorization of Managed Care patient files
    • Ensure correct coding for all Managed Care Organisation patients
    • Consult with the relevant service providers regarding patient care treatment
    • Assist with the transfer of patients to Rehab Hospital or step down facilities
    • Arrange in-service training for relevant staff to meet the needs of the theatre department
    • Liaise network of internal and external stakeholders to ensure that managed care of patients is maintained
    • Actively participate as a member of a team to achieve goals
    • Active involvement in own professional development to maintain a satisfactory level of skill and knowledge
    • Work effectively and co-operatively with others to establish and maintain good working relationships that are mutually beneficial
    • Develop collaborative relationships to help accomplish work goals
