    Actuarial Manager

    Advisory, Actuarial Manager

    We’re currently looking for an Actuarial Manager to play a leading role in our dedicated Actuarial team. It’s a rapidly growing area supported by an increased focus on risk across the industry.

    Your Key Responsibilities

    We’ll look to you to take a holistic approach to the role, developing your skills and knowledge in multiple areas. That means you won’t just be working on pensions or insurance. You’ll add value beyond what’s traditionally expected by modeling risk in multiples areas, including pricing and data analysis. You’re likely to spend most of your day working on your projects, with occasional direct meetings with clients to monitor and discuss progress.

    Skills and attributes for success

    • Identifying the key levers that impact solvency ratios and return on equity to optimize our clients’ capital position
    • Modeling, documenting and preparing application files toward the Nation Bank of Belgium
    • Validating estimate models
    • Providing audit support for Solvency II and statutory reporting, including sample tests on Life Technical Provisions, IAS 19 and Pension funds
    • Acting as an actuarial professional, providing guidance on a wide range of areas, such as life and general insurance, investment, corporate finance, risk management and pension

       

    To qualify for the role you must have

    • +5 years’ experience in the Life Insurance industry
    • Qualified Actuary
    • Strong experience in financial reporting (SAM/Solvency II, IFRS, EV, Economic Capital, Management reporting / Predictive modelling)
    • Commercial awareness, and understanding the dynamics of financial services
    • People management and project lead experience
       

    Ideally, you’ll also have

    • The executive presence and confidence to work with senior clients

    Performance Improvement - Senior Manager – Shared Services

    The opportunity
    As Performance Improvement Senior Manager - Finance, you'll build valued relationships with external clients and internal peers and develop a portfolio of business by focusing on high impact opportunities. You will lead presentations and proposals for moderately complex projects - or elements of highly complex projects - and provide subject matter insight to bids and proposals.

    Your key responsibilities 

    • Participate in and, as required, lead Finance engagements
    • Manage financial aspects of client engagements and communicate significant issues, fees, and estimates-to-complete to partners and clients
    • Help partners and directors generate new business opportunities and build client networks and relationships
    • Understand all EY service offerings and actively identify opportunities to better serve clients
    • Build strong internal relationships within EY Advisory Services and with other services across the organization

     People responsibilities

    • Develop people through effectively supervising, coaching, and mentoring all levels of staff
    • Conduct performance reviews and contribute to performance feedback for all levels of staff
    • Contribute to people-related initiatives including recruiting, retaining and training Finance professionals
    • Maintain an educational program to continually develop personal skills of all levels of staff
    • Understand and follow workplace policies and procedures and communicate these to all levels of staff

    Application for a Training Contract for 2022 CA programme- Johannesburg

    Brief Description of Role

    • Application to start articles once you have completed your Honours/CTA/PGDA


    Application Requirements

    • The candidate should attach a copy of an ID, CV, matric certificate and academic record to date.


    Key Responsibilities

    You will serve your articles in our Audit Division, during this time you will be required to write two Qualifying Board Exams. The first is written in January of your first year and the second is written in November of your second year. You are also required to work 3600 core hours during your three years. You will sign a three year training contract - this means that you can plan your career with Ernst & Young from the first day you start with us.
