    Head of Data Protection (Legal), MEA

    Head of Data Protection (Legal), MEA Responsibilities

    • Build and develop a team of highly qualified attorneys with subject matter expertise in areas of regional data use and protection laws in the Middle East and Africa regions
    • Assist product lawyers in evaluating the impact of privacy laws, regulatory guidance and enforcement actions, and other related guidelines on product features
    • Support members of the legal, business, and policy teams on privacy and security-related legal matters, including areas related to partnerships, acquisitions, integrations, and other business development opportunities
    • Develop Middle East and Africa regulatory strategy in connection with new product features and initiatives, and coordinate responses to inquiries from data protection regulators in those regions
    • Drive high-profile and high-impact projects involving privacy analysis and compliance with stakeholders across Facebook's business, policy, legal, communications, security, and other departments
    • Help draft and oversee the development and management of Facebook's (and its affiliates') terms and data policies across the full range of Facebook’s different products
    • Help to develop and conduct general and role-specific privacy trainings across Facebook

    Minimum Qualifications

    • 8+ years of legal experience, including at a law firm and/or prior in-house experience with internet or technology companies (applicable litigation, regulatory, or product counseling will be considered)
    • Experience with global privacy laws, regulations, and industry guidelines, especially including those relevant for social media and Internet companies
    • Solicitor or Barrister (qualified to practice law in at least one European jurisdiction)
    • Ability to prioritize work and provide advice under deadlines
    • Business judgment and client counseling experience
    • Excellent problem-solving, written and oral communication and interpersonal skills

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience working with mobile, application development, social networking, online advertising, machine learning, or other internet technologies
    • Experience working directly with data protection authorities in the Middle East and/or Africa
    • Knowledge of, or fluency in, Arabic, French, and other languages prevalent in the Middle East or Africa is a plus

    Regional Program Manager, Strategic Response (Sub-Saharan Africa)

    Regional Program Manager, Strategic Response (Sub-Saharan Africa) Responsibilities

    • Lead company wide preparations to protect the integrity of elections across Sub-Saharan Africa.
    • Proactively identify process, policy and product gaps and recruit resources to fill them as quickly as possible.
    • Absorb a significant amount of information and synthesize it into clear product, policy, and process requirements.
    • Work across teams to identify potential integrity risks and drive the creation of solutions to solve them.
    • Develop and coordinate company-wide strategies to protect elections integrity on our platforms in multiple countries simultaneously from start to finish.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Significant years of experience with a Bachelor's degree.
    • Knowledge of geopolitical issues in Sub-Saharan Africa, including experience working on elections and how they intersect with social media.
    • Experience working with cross-functional partners across EMEA and North America
    • Experience managing escalations and counseling leadership.
    • Experience running integrity programs and building consensus among stakeholders.

    Program Manager

    Program Manager Responsibilities

    • Lead infrastructure programs from development and planning through execution and operations.
    • Support the full lifecycle of infrastructure projects from opportunity development and planning through structuring, contract development and beyond into actual deployment, infrastructure acceptance and operations.
    • Ability to define program roadmaps, translate strategic initiatives into actual programs of deliverable work.
    • Work with cross-functional teams (Finance, Legal, Partnerships, Regulatory and Policy) to develop project requirements, gain broad support and attain project approval.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • 7+ years of experience in a project/program management, management consulting, operations or similar strategic space.
    • 3+ years of experience in telecom infrastructure development or in network development for one or more key infrastructure areas: terrestrial fiber, submarine, wireless access, backhaul and core networking
    • Experience influencing across functional boundaries and globally.
    • Track record of operating independently, demonstrating creativity, being detail-oriented and analytical, and delivering results in a highly organized manner.
    • Understanding of regulatory and policy implications of infrastructure sharing.
    • Ability to understand network operator requirements and identify alternate approaches to more efficiently plan networks using multiple data sources coupled with advanced analytics.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including experience speaking to both technical and business audiences.
    • Ability to travel up to 20% of time. International travel is required.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Real-world experience implementing infrastructure sharing models (fiberco, co-build, submarine consortiums and / or towercos) especially in emerging markets.
    • Understanding of wholesale bandwidth products (IP transit, Ethernet, Dark Fiber) and pricing structure & levels.
    • Experience engaging with operators (Mobile Network Operators / ISPs / Wholesalers) in emerging markets.
    • Familiarity with wholesale infrastructure economics, operating models and scale factors.
    • BA/BS or higher degree in an Engineering field or equivalent degree/experience.
