    Commercial Marketing & Logistics

    GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

    • This role is structured for hands on learning and immediate impact, requiring high attention to detail and a proactive attitude.
    • Execute and manage the physical movement process for cargo (road, rail, port operations, and sea freight) to ensure cargo flow is optimised, risks are mitigated, and profitability is maximised.
    • Own the administrative and operational execution of purchase and sales contracts, including accurate and timely invoicing, payment processing, and comprehensive financial reconciliation.
    • Assist in the negotiation and execution of logistics agreements and commercial terms with various third-party service providers and counterparties.
    • Assist in structuring and execute commercial frameworks to ensure competitive pricing and favorable terms.
    • Conduct in-depth market research and analysis on domestic and relevant international markets, monitoring price trends, supply and demand dynamics, and geopolitical factors affecting commodity prices.
    • Develop market reports and analysis to support the wider commercial and trading team, identifying new opportunities and managing inherent risks.
    • Develop and maintain risk management strategies to protect the company from price volatility and market fluctuations.
    • Monitor and assess the risk exposure of the commodities portfolio.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards.
    • Stay informed about changes in regulations that may impact commodity Commercial Marketing & Logistics activities.
    • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with commodity and logistics suppliers, customers, brokers, and industry peers.
    • Collaborate with other Commercial Marketing & Logistics teams and departments to enhance the company's Commercial Marketing & Logistics capabilities.
    • This role will be based in Melrose Arch office, reporting to the Commercial Managers – FerroAlloys.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Relevant Tertiary Qualification.
    • Chartered Accountant, Chartered Financial Analyst, Actuary, Engineering, Commerce or Business Science.

    GRC Product Owner & Project Manager

    In this role you will:

    Product Owner

    • Platform vision and strategy: Define and execute the product roadmap for MetricStream GRC platform, aligning with business objectives and stakeholder needs.
    • Stakeholder management: Collaborate with Risk, Audit, HSEC, Legal and Technology teams to gather requirements and prioritize features.
    • Data governance: Establish robust data governance processes ensuring data quality, accuracy, and consistency across the platform.
    • Continuous improvement: Monitor industry trends and best practices to enhance the platform's capabilities and user experience.
    • Business process integration: Systematize Risk, Audit, and HSEC business processes within the platform framework.

    Your training, skills & expertise checklist:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field; advanced degree (e.g.; MBA, MSc) or professional certifications in business, risk management or data governance preferred. 
    • 10+ years of experience including strong delivery of Management (ERM) frameworks and MetricStream solution rollouts.
    • Proven experience in implementing and managing Enterprise systems in a global organization.
    • Excellent project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
    • Proficiency in relevant software tools and technologies used in ERM systems, including strong MetricStream knowledge.
    • Knowledge of MetricStream’s ERM features, such as AI driven risk insights, heat maps and compliance automation.

    • Educational Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or a related field; a Master’s or PhD is preferred.
    • Experience: Over 10 years of experience in a structural geology role within the mining industry, demonstrating a proven track record in structural geology and modelling techniques for both underground and open-pit operations.

    Projects Operational Readiness & Major Plant Shutdown Manager - Africa

    The Opportunity

    • The primary purpose of this role is to lead and coordinate the Operational Readiness (OPR) and Major Shutdown Readiness strategy across Glencore Copper Africa’s projects portfolio. You will ensure that each project—particularly those requiring major plant tie-ins, brownfield interfaces, and high-risk shutdown interventions—is fully prepared for safe, efficient, and reliable operation at handover.
    • The role includes a strong focus on major shutdown planning and execution readiness, ensuring optimal alignment between project teams, commissioning, maintenance, construction, and operations to support safe tie-ins, minimal downtime, and stable ramp-up.

    In this role, you will:

    • Lead Operational Readiness (OPR) across multiple capital projects in the DRC, ensuring people, processes, and assets are ready for commissioning, start-up, ramp-up, and steady operations.
    • Represent the owner/operator perspective to ensure that project design, engineering, and execution practices support long-term stable operations.
    • Drive operational capability and readiness improvements across sites and projects.

    Major Shutdown Management Responsibilities

    • Provide oversight and leadership across major shutdown projects, including large-scale tie-ins, infrastructure cut-overs, processing circuit integrations, and multi-area complex shutdown packages.
    • Lead the development of Major Shutdown Execution Plans, including scope definition, critical path identification, Simultaneous Operations (SIMOPS) management, isolation strategies, barricading plans, and contractor readiness.
    • Integrate major shutdown schedules with Operations, Maintenance, Construction, and Commissioning to ensure predictable and safe execution.
    • Facilitate critical shutdown reviews (ORR, HSEC readiness, SIMOPS risk assessments, Go/No-Go reviews) for all major shutdown events.
    • Lead readiness assessments for complex brownfield interfaces and high-risk execution environments.
    • Support execution and ramp-up activities during major shutdowns to ensure timely and stable restoration of operational performance.
    • Ensure major shutdown learnings are captured, documented, and embedded into future shutdown events across the Africa portfolio.

    General OPR Accountabilities

    • Review engineering updates, design changes, and scope developments to anticipate operational impacts and mitigate risks.
    • Ensure adherence to Glencore engineering standards, shutdown protocols, HSEC requirements, and legal obligations across the project lifecycle.
    • Develop and maintain integrated OPR and shutdown readiness schedules and ensure alignment with project milestones and operational calendars.
    • Prepare and manage OPR and major shutdown cost estimates for inclusion in capital approvals and execution plans.
    • Support transitions between construction, commissioning, start-up, major shutdown execution, and steady-state operations.
    • Lead OPR and major shutdown-related audits, governance reviews, and documentation management processes.

    Your training, skills & expertise checklist:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business, or related field (asset management or operational excellence advantageous).
    • Professional certification (e.g., PMI PMP) desirable.
    • 15+ years’ experience in Project Management, Operational Readiness, Commissioning, and Major Shutdown Management within the mining and metals industry.
    • Proven capability in leading complex brownfield shutdowns, tie-ins, and multi-disciplinary execution teams.
    • Strong knowledge of engineering standards, shutdown methodologies, maintenance practices, commissioning processes, and HSEC systems.
    • Excellent leadership, facilitation, analytical, and contractor management abilities.
    • Strong commercial and financial acumen including major shutdown budgeting and cost estimation.
    • Effective interpersonal, influencing, and communication skills across senior and operational stakeholders.
    • Johannesburg-based with frequent travel to DRC project sites.
    • French an advantage.

    Trade Accountant

    Key Responsibilities may include:

    • Intercompany reconciliations – reconciling and agreeing the intercompany balances
    • Front to Back reconciliations – recon of Front office system to Back-office system
    • P/L and balance sheet reconciliations
    • Inventory and Broker reconciliations
    • Third party account matching – invoices and cash payments/receipts
    • Working with the Treasury Department and Front Office as necessary to assist in allocating cash
    • Analysing debtors and creditors (to include ageing analysis)

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • The successful candidate will have a Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
    • Early stages of ACCA, CIMA, SAIPA or CFA or keen to begin their professional qualification.

    WORK EXPERIENCE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Ideally at least 3-5 years of relevant prior working experience.
    • SAP experience is beneficial.
    • Experience in commodity trading environment, and preferably in a multinational is an advantage.
    • Experience of working in an offshore team supporting a head office is an advantage
    • Strong IT skills a necessity - in particular Excel
    • Self-management
    • Strong communication skills - comfort with using remote communication tools (i.e. Teams) to stay connected with the team and stakeholders.
    • Strong interpersonal skills
    • A methodical approach coupled with the ability to evaluate and interpret data from a variety of sources is essential.
    • Problem-solving: Demonstrated ability to resolve issues remotely, whether they’re technical or interpersonal.
