    Data Scientist

    About this job

    • As a Data Scientist you will have exposure to many aspects of the business, and make direct impact to the bottom line. You will be accountable for interfacing with various teams throughout the business to derive a deep understanding of underlying phenomena that impact portfolio performance, develop better features to improve the performance of our predictive models, and better understand the links between client interventions and behaviour. You will also innovate to improve processes, algorithms, methods, product constructs, designs, and analyse experiments to learn about our clients and explore opportunities for portfolio improvement such as growth, stability, and revenue.

    You will 

    • Analyse, transform, augment and build datasets to convert financial and behavioural data into features and dimensions that allow us to more easily and accurately extract insights. 
    • Use your coding skills to contribute to our team tooling and automate processes as much as possible.
    • Design and develop models of our real world systems and client behaviours to help inform our decision making. This includes, but is not limited to, forecasting, simulating products or systems, testing decline strategies, and optimising client experience. 
    • Analyse end user requirements to understand and communicate what our stakeholders (for example, fellow analysts, portfolio managers, or partners) need, and what we can deliver to match those expectations. 
    • Derive and communicate insights to our stakeholders. 

    You will need

    • A bachelor's degree with a strong quantitative component (e.g. Economics, Physics, Engineering, Software engineering, etc.).
    • Minimum 3-5 years of experience filling a similar role in Finance & Technology.
    • Strong data wrangling skills using SQL and coding in python.
    • Strong interest in software development.
    • An ability to interpret problems, and simplify them to their essentials.
    • The desire to innovate, be creative and work on challenging problems.
    • Experience using software development practices like git, CI/CD, etc.

    In-country Operations Manager

    You will

    Senior Data Engineer

    About this job

    • At JUMO, we’ve built a smart financial services platform to make finance accessible to everyone.  Our Data engineering team ensures that our intelligent banking platform is able to acquire data from millions of users across globally distributed sources, such as GSM. Beyond ingress, the data is processed and stored in the cloud to support event-driven analytics and machine learning pipelines.
    • As a JUMO Senior Data Engineer, you will design, build and maintain scalable data architectures.  You will monitor their performance, perform root cause analysis and provide solutions to any issues that might arise. You will work with large, complex data sets, which means experience working with Big Data is essential.  On a typical day, we use Spark, Kafka, Python, SQL, Airflow and AWS technologies, such as Redshift.  We work with Docker and Kubernetesfor automating deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications.  

     

    You will

    • Be responsible for creating robust, mission critical batch and streaming data processing capabilities
    • Design, implement, and maintain the data pipelines that constitute JUMO's data platform, enabling effective use of data across the organisation
    • Provide feedback on team members' output, encouraging skills development within the team
    • Work closely with Portfolio Managers and Decision Scientists to understand the real world problems we’re trying to solve
    • Mentor juniors with technical leadership

    You will need

    • 5 - 8 years of experience in a similar role with a BSc. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent tertiary degree
    • Real-world understanding & experience of data pipeline design and development, as well as data processing and storage (i.e. experience in designing systems to process and curate large data sets)
    • Experience in streaming technologies, specifically Spark and Kafka
    • Experience with cloud technologies, AWS preferred
    • Solid, proven experience working with big-data technologies such as Apache Spark, Flink, Hadoop, Kafka or Kinesis, Cassandra, DynamoDB, InfluxDB, MongoDB, Presto, Beam
    • Command of productionising and monitoring of data pipeline workflows, and working knowledge of the Data Product Lifecycle
    • Experience in application design and development with at least one of the following languages: Python (preferred), Scala, Java
    • RDBMS experience in any relevant technology such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redshift and SQL Server.  This includes experience with relational database administration, technical architectures and infrastructure components

    • As Senior Data and Reporting Analyst, you will become the data guru for one or more of the many functional data domains within JUMO. Working closely with the various stakeholders, BI developers and Data engineers to enable you to service data requests both internally and to external partners. You will report to the Data Modelling & Reporting Team Lead.

    You will 

    • Work closely with all stakeholders which will include technology platform Product Owners, Data & Prediction teams, Finance, Marketing and external partners to perform investigations on data warehouse and other operational data stores to understand and assist with the real-world problems we're trying to solve.
    • Need to understand the end-to-end architecture of your functional domain and be able to deep dive into the data to resolve issues or perform ad-hoc extracts.
    • Perform quality assurance on new and existing data sets and pipelines to discover inconsistencies, anomalies to guide problem resolution and data cleansing exercises.
    • Use advanced data query and discovery skills for ad hoc analysis and support for both internal and external stakeholders.
    • Need to be able to clearly define reporting requirements to BI Developers for build.

    •  5+ years experience with data and/or systems analysis experience, at least some within a formal BI environment.
    • University degree in either Business, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Informatics or equivalent industry training and experience.

    Technical Portfolio Manager

    About this job

    • As Technical Portfolio Manager  you will be an integral part of the team accountable for the daily loan book operations of JUMO. You will work with various areas to affect and control portfolio and asset management decisions in order to optimise financial return, within the set risk appetite, and increased financial inclusion.
