    Butt Welder

    Minimum Requirements

    • Grade 12 (std 10)
    • Be able to operate sophisicated automated welding equipment and vertical floop.
    • Document Control
    • Understand and apply correct welding techniques (including CO2 and Manual Stick welding processes)
    • Complete Statically Process Control Charts (SPC)
    • Have good communciation skills
    • Able to work under minimal supervision
    • Able to identify problem areas with regards to equipment and generate job cards for Engineering to address these issues
    • Have a valide crane license
    • Be a Team Player

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Be able to correctly interpret all information from bar code label
    • Visually inspect slit strip coil for any damage, waves and that the slit strip is free from all rust (any deviations from standard, a NCR is raised).
    • Feed slit strip from uncoiler into the butt-welding station, by means of the tail opener.
    • Ensure the CO2 welding torch is set up correctly and the CO2 machine is in working order and all limits are set according to the slit strip width being received.
    • Visually check weld joint.
    • After welding, grind both bottom and top of weld joint.
    • Before grinding, visually inspect top and bottom of weld joint to ensure correct joining of head and tail ends of slit strip.
    • Feed slit into floop and ensure floop is put onto automatic mode.
    • Assist the slit strip loader.
    • During mill changeovers, assist the Tube Maker and thereafter set butt-welder side guides, weld joint gaps and floop.
    • Ensure that the housekeeping around the uncoiler, butt welding and floop is maintained as per the housekeeping standards during shift.

    Operator Warehouse

    Minimum Requirements

    • Grade 12 (Std 10)
    • Must have valid Code 14 + PDP essential
    • Must have good time keeping skills.
    • Must be literate in English (read, speak and write) and be able to communicate effectively with any given group.
    • Other official languages would be an advantage.
    • Offer outstanding customer service. (Internal and external)
    • Must be able to work shifts.
    • Must be able to work overtime.
    • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
    • Must be a team player and have excellent people skills.
    • Must be able to read a measuring tape and / or Vernier.
    • Knowledge of specialised steel advantageous
    • Valid overhead crane licence inclusive of experience in operating of overhead crane is essential.
    • Valid forklift license inclusive of experience in operating 7ton forklifts

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Receiving of incoming materials  i.e.: physically checking and confirming items received from suppliers to suppliers’ delivery notes ensuring correct sizes, quantities, quality etc.
    • Ensuring material is stored in correct allocated areas
    • Marking items, packing and identification of items -labels / barcodes / colour coding (Labeling of items after bundles are broken) of items,
    • Loading and offloading materials (Forklift or crane)
    • Operating machines, picking and checking when required (Picking, packing and strapping of material)
    • General housekeeping
    • Ensure safety is maintained at all times by doing routine safety inspections and reporting of unsafe acts and conditions.
    • Follow company safety rules.
    • Scanning of material movement and ensuring correct recording of data (stock and allocation) in SAP
    • perform additional warehouse tasks from time to time
    • Conduct work across all gantry and bays within the site
    • Where required perform shunting duties
    • All duties to be carried out timeously and accurately at all times
    • Weighing of all incoming and outgoing vehicles (where required) and following up on any discrepancies
    • Assist with stock cycle counts
    • Ensure products such as tubing, sheets, lip-channels and other applicable products are stored in a manner to prevent rust and damages. Cleaning of rusted, soiled material where required.
    • Checking and slinging of all material loaded and offloaded .
    • Reporting of stock shortages and stock damages before the end of the shift.
    • Packing material to ensure walkways are clear of obstructions or to allow safe walking within the bay. All protruding material to be marked with hazard tape.
    • Daily crane and forklift check to be completed. Includes the visual checking of hooks, slings, chains, crane ropes, crane drums ,spreader beams and related lifting equipment - Any defects to be reported immediately)

    Warehouse Supervisor I

    Minimum Requirements

    • Minimum Grade 12
    • 2 Years supervisory experience in a warehouse environment
    • Ability to take responsibility and accountability for WHS operations.
    • Strong knowledge of mild steel products is important.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Good administration skills
    • Sound Knowledge of the OHS Act
    • Must be self-motivated with the ability to motivate others.
    • Must be organized and manage time efficiently.
    • Be able to work shifts.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Monitor inventory levels and ensure replenishment is conducted on a regular basis.
    • Ensure damages to material are limited and reported.
    • Ensuring regular cycle counts are conducted.
    • Preparing the stores for stock take and assisting in the stock take.
    • Ensuring non-conforming material is segregated and reported to the quality department.
    • Ensuring all racks and bins are maintained and in safe condition.
    • Ensuring the correct layout of the stores and yard areas for effective picking.
    • Ensuring all indents or received material is checked, measured, verified, and sent for receipting.
    • Ensuring random quality checks are conducted on indents.
    • Handling of any receiving/supplier queries on received material.
    • Ensuring test certificates are received for all received material.
    • Ensure the most effective distribution of material from Macsteel to clients through the efficient utilization of vehicles and to ensure the efficient of inventory.
    • Ensuring the correct material is picked.
    • Ensuring all customers packing and special requirements are met.
    • Liaise with the quality department on customers inspection requirements.
    • Ensure customer service levels are of an excellent standard within your department.
    • Ensure compliance with OHS Act.
    • Manage workforce team.
