Be able to operate sophisicated automated welding equipment and vertical floop.

Duties and Responsibilities
Be able to correctly interpret all information from bar code label
Visually inspect slit strip coil for any damage, waves and that the slit strip is free from all rust (any deviations from standard, a NCR is raised).
Feed slit strip from uncoiler into the butt-welding station, by means of the tail opener.
Ensure the CO2 welding torch is set up correctly and the CO2 machine is in working order and all limits are set according to the slit strip width being received.
Visually check weld joint.
After welding, grind both bottom and top of weld joint.
Before grinding, visually inspect top and bottom of weld joint to ensure correct joining of head and tail ends of slit strip.
Feed slit into floop and ensure floop is put onto automatic mode.
Assist the slit strip loader.
During mill changeovers, assist the Tube Maker and thereafter set butt-welder side guides, weld joint gaps and floop.
Ensure that the housekeeping around the uncoiler, butt welding and floop is maintained as per the housekeeping standards during shift.
