    Senior Graphic Designer- Communication and Marketing (6 month contract) (N/ A)

    CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

    • To conceptualise, design, and deliver high-quality visual and digital communication and marketing materials that support Nelson Mandela University's strategic objectives, enhance its brand identity, and meet the diverse marketing and communication needs of internal and external stakeholders. This role operates at a lead project and supervisory level, ensuring adherence to corporate identity standards and fostering design innovation.

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

    • Design Conceptualisation and Project Execution
    • Lead the conceptualisation and execution of high-impact design projects across print and digital platforms.
    • Develop and deliver innovative visual solutions aligned to organisational and strategic objectives.
    • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in full compliance with corporate identity standards.
    • Graphic Design Services and Creative Production
    • Provide expert graphic design services to support campaigns, publications, events, and digital platforms.
    • Produce creative layouts, illustrations, and infographics tailored to defined target audiences.
    • Maintain consistently high-quality design output that enhances brand engagement and stakeholder satisfaction.
    • Brand Identity Management
    • Uphold and advance the Nelson Mandela University brand identity across all visual communication.
    • Ensure all materials strictly adhere to institutional corporate identity guidelines.
    • Maintain visual consistency across all communication channels with no breaches of brand standards.
    • Design Leadership and Supervision
    • Provide mentorship and supervisory guidance to the junior graphic designers to support professional development and efficient workflow management.
    • Stakeholder Consultation and Creative Advisory
    • Consult with internal stakeholders to identify design requirements and communication objectives.

    Conduct design briefings and present creative concepts for approval, when required.
    Refine and adapt designs based on feedback to deliver solutions that meet or exceed client expectations through effective collaboration and communication.
     
    REQUIREMENTS

    • National Diploma in Graphic Design (preference for candidates with a BTech / Advanced Diploma, equivalent in Graphic Design or above)
    • Training and advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite on Mac (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat Professional)
    • High-level expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
    • In-depth knowledge of design software and hardware to deliver required outputs
    • Strong understanding of visual communication and design principles
    • Ability to lead projects and oversee the work of others to ensure excellence
    • High attention to detail and accuracy
    • Consistent delivery of creative, high-quality design outputs under tight deadlines
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) for integrated communication
    • A minimum of 4–6 years’ relevant professional experience in a graphic design role, preferably within a corporate, public sector, or higher education environment.

    Digital Asset and File Management

    Professional Development and Industry Awareness

    • Stay current with emerging design trends, software updates, and industry best practices.

    Brand Governance and Regulatory Framework Contribution

    REQUIREMENTS

    • National Diploma in Graphic Design or equivalent (BTech/Advanced Diploma preferred)
    • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) on Mac systems
    • Minimum 3–5 years professional experience in graphic design, preferably within a marketing, communications, or branding environment
    • Demonstrated experience producing creative work across both print and digital media

    Buyer - Supply Chain Management (2280)

    CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

    • To ensure the efficient operation of the Procurement Department by adhering to the University's Supply Chain Policy and established Policies and Procedures. This includes sourcing and purchasing goods and services at optimal quality, cost, and delivery timelines while maintaining strong vendor relationships, conducting market analysis, negotiating contracts, and ensuring compliance with procurement regulations to support University’s objectives.

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

    • Oversee and procure the daily procurement of both defined and non-defined items.
    • Administer the procurement process in accordance with the Request for Quotation (RFQ) procedure.
    • Execute procurement activities for capital purchases, ensuring compliance with procurement policies.
    • Act as a liaison between suppliers and end-users to facilitate seamless procurement operations.
    • Monitor and manage outstanding procurement commitments to ensure timely fulfillment.
    • Perform adhoc procurement-related tasks as required to support departmental objectives.
    • Oversee and maintain PURCO contracts to ensure alignment with university procurement strategies.
    • Must have in-depth knowledge and expertise in tender administration processes.

    • Expertise in Tender Administration: Demonstrates in-depth knowledge and proficiency in managing tender processes, including preparation, evaluation, compliance, and contract awarding in line with procurement regulations and best practices.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Matric (M + 3) NQF7 in any of the below:

    • Operations Management
    • Public Financial Management
    • Public Management/ Public Administration
    • 3 years’ relevant procurement experience including computer knowledge in a corporate environment and knowledge of PPPFA and B-BBEE legislations.

    Senior Manager: Academic Planning (2133)

    CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

    • The purpose of this post is to provide executive secretarial, administrative and office management and support to the DVC: Learning and Teaching. The Personal Assistant must ensure logistical efficiency of the portfolio, strategic engagement of existing and potential stakeholders of the University, prioritize demands of the portfolio in support of the leadership responsibilities of the portfolio.

    • Manage the diary of the DVC: Learning and Teaching.
    • Responsible for all travel, accommodation and venue arrangements and to ensure that requisitions are timeously uploaded on the financial system.
    • Liaise with internal and external Higher Education sector stakeholders.
    • Provide organisational and administrative assistance for conferences, seminars, as well as training and development programmes initiated by the office of the DVC: Learning and Teaching.

    Artisan General George Campus Maintenance Services (2029)

    CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

    • The purpose of this post is to execute Building and Engineering related maintenance work and services to all NMU buildings on all campuses and in accordance with the Health and Safety Act and NMU policies and procedures.

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

    • To ensure all works requisitions and job cards are completed daily.
    • To ensure that all building and engineering maintenance work and services are completed daily.

    REQUIREMENTS

    To be considered for appointment to this post, candidates must have the following:

    • N2 Qualification or Technical Grade 12.
    • Accredited Trade Certificate Preferable Mechanical or other.
    • 3 years relevant experience in General maintenance.
    • Unendorsed Category B driver’s license
