    School Counselor (Paulshof Primary)

    ABOUT THE ROLE

    • Nova Pioneer is looking for a Registered School Counselor! As the Counselor, you will have the opportunity to help craft a vision and strategy for student wellness and academic counselling development in our schools. You will be required to travel to the different campuses in the Nova Pioneer South Africa network, however, your primary base will be at our Paulshof Campus.

    As the Registered School Counsellor, you will have the opportunity to:

    • Model, live and lead the Nova Culture
    • Collaboratively develop a Comprehensive School Counseling Policy with the Principal

    ABOUT YOU

    • You are an HPCSA- registered educational, counseling, or clinical psychologist 
    • You have Professional Training in Counselling- Higher National Diploma or Honours Degree in Psychology
    • You have between 3 - 5 years of experience in institutional counselling

    2026 Post School Success Associate (South Africa)

    ABOUT THE ROLE

    Key responsibilities for the role include:

    Grade 12-13s:

    • Hold office hours for one-one-on-one consultations with students at least twice a week at NPOS to discuss their career options, college / university applications and other post-school options.  Office hours can be after school, lunch and during breaks.
    • Support students and families as they navigate the local university/college application process by fulfilling the following tasks and any other task/need arising from the process.
    • Guide students and school teams to complete the application process. 
    • Facilitate other local admission opportunities ahead of AS/A Level exams, COVID protocols allowing. 
    • Guide students to submit quality international applications within the stipulated deadlines. This could include reviewing organizing for standardized testing, personal statements, essays, checking their documents and other support as needed. 
    • Guide students and parents in the completion of financial aid applications like the CSS profile. 
    • Follow up with recommenders to ensure quality letters and other supporting documents are submitted on time. 
    • Facilitate submission of school documents needed to support applications like transcripts, school profile etc. 
    • Actively liaise with university representatives where students have applied to advocate for their applications and to provide other supporting information.
    • Manage admission offers and enquires on the Concourse Global platform liaising with Concourse representatives, students and parents as necessary. 
    • Liaise with Universities South Africa (USAf) to expedite matriculation exemption certificate issuing
    • Facilitate registrations for National Benchmark Tests (NBTs)
    • Continuously connecting and partnering with our strong University partners such as African Leadership University, Strathmore, USIU, Ashesi University, Africa Leadership Academy etc.

    Grade 11s post school success support: 

    • Hold office hours to guide students on their career selection process, college/university lists and other alternative plans. 
    • Hold workshops on pathway classes for students based on their declared pathways and needed next steps. 
    • Review students’ pathway selection providing them with feedback as necessary and transferring their options onto a database for tracking. 
    • Where SATs are required, oversee provision of SAT prep. This includes but is not limited to sharing practise resources, issuing and grading mock tests and guiding students and parents to register for the exam. 

    Grade 8-10s:

    • Run parent and learner supports for basic information and understanding of pathways available
    • Work with the Academic Leadership of schools to support learners in selecting appropriate courses and future planning
    • Support SEL and Leadership Teachers in incorporating materials and resources that will best set up learners in grades 11 and beyond in their PSS journey

    Cross Functions:

    Qualifications required:

    You have a minimum qualification of a Bachelor's Degree in Education Management, College Counselling, Psychology or other related courses. ​​​​

    Temporary FET Phase Mathematics Teacher - Cambridge IGCSE and A-Levels, Secondary School (Ormonde)

    About the role

    • We are looking for an exceptional Mathematics Teacher (Cambridge IGCSE and A-Levels) at Ormonde Secondary School. Resident teachers lead instruction and planning for subject or grade level classrooms and are responsible for driving a rigorous, enquiry-based learning environment the Nova Pioneer way. Resident teachers are supported by Deans of Instruction who partner with them in their growth journey by observing lessons, providing feedback, and coaching. Resident teachers support and mentor-apprentice teachers.  

    Key responsibilities for the role include:

    • Deliver exceptional, real-world, enquiry-based Mathematics lessons that align with the Cambridge Mathematics curriculum requirements
    • Prepare students to sit for IGCSE, AS, and A-level exams.
    • Design rigorous lesson plans
    • Deliver impactful and engaging enquiry-based lessons supported by technology to enhance instructional delivery
    • Observe, coach and be a model teacher for new teachers
    • Infuse joy and passion for learning into lessons so that students are excited about and invested in their academic excellence
    • Set and communicate rigorous and ambitious goals for all students and provide student feedback so they internalise it
    • Conduct ongoing assessment of student progress
    • Use assessment data to adjust instructional content and delivery techniques accordingly
    • Attend weekly feedback meetings with Deans to enhance teaching practices
    • Fully participate in opportunities for professional growth including daily team meetings and reflections, weekly professional development meetings, instructional coaching, and organisation-wide learning and reflection
    • Communicate regularly with parents through email, telephone and parent-teacher conferences
    • Contribute to and participate in co-curricular programming for at least one activity in the course of a term
    • Participate in a variety of collaborative teams and committees, fulfil supervision duties as assigned including occasional morning, evening, and weekend events

    About You

    Skills and Qualifications required:

    • A Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics or a similar degree plus a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) is ideal. A Physics qualification will be an added advantage.
    • You have taken a Mathematics major (including Statistics) to the third year level at university
    • You have taught Maths at the senior school level (Grade 8 - 12 experience) for at least 2 years 
    • Experience and/or understanding of the Cambridge or IEB curriculum objectives is ideal
    • SACE registered
    • Ability to lead a classroom independently
    • You love teaching and care deeply about the success of each and every student
    • You have an understanding of and passion for enquiry-based, student-centred learning
    • You have a deep understanding of children, and you know how to connect with the  specific age group that you teach
    • You are a team player,r and you enjoy group problem-solving
    • You are adept at using technology for instruction
