    Artisan Assistant (Mechanical)

    • Novus Print: Paarden Eiland is seeking to appoint an Artisan Assistant within the Technical and Engineering department, to assist with daily planned and unplanned maintenance on machines and assisting Artisans in their tasks. The successful incumbent will report to the Workshop Foreman.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities  

    • Perform mechanical repairs, maintenance etc.
    • Ensure correct lubrication and greasing of machines
    • Ensure preventative maintenance – lubrication, service checks & cleaning
    • Conduct regular lubrication inspection according to OHS standards
    • Check and oversee oil levels, leaks, oil spills and cleaning of filters
    • Carry out repairs on equipment within the mechanical workshop
    • Maintain housekeeping in accordance to the mechanical workshop standards
    • Adhering to all health and safety requirements related to observing equipment and machinery to verify efficient and safe operation
    • Provide assistance to artisans

    Educational Requirements  

    • Grade 12 or equivalent with mathematics and physical
    • N2 Technical Certificate

    Experience Requirements    

    • 1-2 years’ working experience in a same or similar role within a FMCG environment
    • 2 years’ experience with the use of hand and power tools is essential
    • Knowledge of the correct usage and application of mechanical maintenance materials
    • Computer literate (Microsoft Office & Shopware)

    Skills and Competencies    

    • Flair for applying practical engineering methods
    • Ability to solve technical problems
    • Ability to working in a high speed and high stress environment
    • Ability to work on heights and confined spaces
    • Ability to safely use power tools such as drills, grinders, circular saw and welding machine
    • Reliable and a team player
    • Excellent time management skills

    Bookkeeper

    • The ideal candidate should have a solid grounding in bookkeeping and accounting, strong numerical accuracy, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The position will be based in Somerset West and will report to the Operations Manager.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities    
    Financial Record Keeping

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records in accordance with company policies.
    • Capture, verify, and process all financial transactions.
    • Reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure month-end completeness.

    Payment Gateway & Online Transaction Reconciliations

    • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations of transactions.
    • Reconcile deposits, withdrawals, chargebacks, payouts, and balances across multiple payment gateways (e.g., Ozow, PayFast, Paystack, EFT, card processors, etc.).
    • Identify discrepancies, resolve variances, and escalate issues where necessary.

    Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable

    • Capture supplier invoices and ensure accurate allocation to accounts.
    • Maintain supplier statements, follow up on queries, and prepare payment runs.
    • Issue customer or partner invoices where applicable.

    Compliance

    • Assist with industry tax submissions

    Management Accounts & Reporting

    • Compile monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow.
    • Compile with variance analysis, reconciliations, and financial insights for senior management.
    • Support budgeting and forecasting processes.

    Regulatory & Audit Support

    • Prepare supporting documents for internal and external audits.
    • Maintain organised digital and physical financial files for compliance and audit readiness.

    Educational Requirements    

    • Diploma or degree in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Finance, or similar.

    Experience Requirements    

    • Minimum 2–4 years’ experience in bookkeeping or accounting.
    • Experience with online transaction reconciliations advantageous but not required.
    • Relevant industry experience not essential, but beneficial.

    Skills and Competencies    
    Technical Skills

    • Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and accounting fundamentals.
    • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar).
    • Advanced Excel skills
    • Solid understanding of SARS requirements (VAT, PAYE, income tax).
    • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.

    Competencies

    • High level of organisation and time management.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
    • Strong problem-solving and reconciliation capabilities.
    • Trustworthy, reliable, and able to handle confidential financial data.
