    Quality Control Technician

    SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDED BUT NOT LIMITED TO

    • Inspect all manufactured products and accept or reject products based on product type reference standard and specifications.
    • Log results on appropriate log sheets based on daily/shift rejects results.
    • Package final product as per type and customer specifications.
    • Ensure all relevant information is included and written on final product package as per type, customer and customs requirement.
    • Learn and implement new quality control measures.
    • Train and assist other team members in quality control procedures .
    • Adhere to SHEQ standards and practices i.e. monthly inspections, reporting of incidents and near-misses, adhere to SHEQ feedback, management feedback.
    • Adhere to Quality system i.e. ISO9001.
    • Adhere to Cargo Aviation Authority (CAA) standards and practices.

    Requirements

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Completed Matric qualification.
    • Tertiary qualification in any Quality/ Process/Engineering/operations management related studies.
    • Minimum of 2 years working experience.

    Process Engineer

    SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDED BUT NOT LIMITED TO

    • Governance of Smelter blueprint and manage risks of any changes through updates of drawings, SOPs, functional descriptions and control philosophies.
    • Provides adequate troubleshooting within Smelter Business Complex through measuring and monitoring trend analysis – SCADA, process, financial, metal accounting. 
    • Develop Power BI models for data collection, profitability models, complete business cases and trade off study documents for information sharing with the EXCO, Senior Management, Junior and Leadership forums.
    • Responsible to generate project user requirement specifications, process flow diagrams, financial cost benefit analysis prior to project moving to stage gate 1.
    • Conduct mass, energy, water and utility balances across Smelter.
    • Evaluation of the Smelter metal balance from process order reviews, lockups.
    • Conduct reviews of sampling and assaying through audits to understand risk of metal variability to business.
    • Commissioning and performance testing of new unit operations along with punch list activities and training documentation and personnel.
    • Lead investigations related to process, quality and governance incidents.
    • Monitor and measure the cost of production for efficiency and continual improvement through best practice and world class implementation.
    • Manage compliance to environmental controls.
    • Work closely with Evaluation to ensure full understanding of elemental and compound analysis that influence process chemistry and efficiencies.

    Requirements

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • A completed Matric qualification.
    • A Degree in Chemical OR Metallurgical Engineering (BTech, BEng or BSc Eng qualification).
    • Preference will be given to a candidate with up to 7 years’ experience with an operational, metallurgical or smelting environment.
    • Must have 2 years within a middle management position.

    Operator: Lead Drossing Furnace

    SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDED BUT NOT LIMITED TO

    • Operate the 3t lead drossing furnace and produce barren lead to the required standard.
    • Remove skimmings and drosses as per the Safe operating procedure for the lead drossing furnace.
    • Accurately sampling all products and byproducts and record the information on the logsheets.
    • Ensures that all feed materials and by-products consumed/generated are weighed and sent for sampling for metal balance purposes.
    • Blend high grade low volume customer materials and smelt a minimum of 500kg per 12-hour shift.
    • Monitor molten stream temperature as per written procedure – temperature cannot exceed 1200 degrees Celsius.
    • Utilise the induction furnace to treat customer material and transfer the final ingots to the refinery as part of Dore transfers or to the BBOC.
    • The operator role also includes the atomisation of blister copper into atomised copper and operates the drier to transfer the material to sampling.
    • Drying solid atomised copper product to separate oversize product from undersize stream.
    • Ensure that the furnace availability is communicated immediately for optimised production.
    • Required to assist in AF tapping and BBOC clean-off.
    • Provides adequate troubleshooting within induction furnace through checking panel parameters.

    Requirements

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • A completed Matric qualification.
    • 3 years’ experience in smelting operations.
    • Qualification in Chemical Eng or Metallurgy will be advantageous.
