    Package Manager: Civil

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Project Management
    • Communication Management
    • Cost Management
    • Risk Management
    • Schedule Management

    Responsibilities:

    • Ensure the health, safety, and environmental performance of the assigned civil work packages.
    • Oversee the technical development, design coordination, procurement, and execution of civil packages.
    • Deliver civil scope within approved schedule, cost, and quality requirements.
    • Participate in and drive constructability and design review sessions.
    • Manage civil construction activities including earthworks, concrete works, roads, water management systems, and associated infrastructure.
    • Identify and manage risks, particularly those impacting the critical path.
    • Lead weekly and monthly progress meetings and ensure accurate reporting.
    • Coordinate interfaces between engineering, procurement, and construction teams.
    • Manage contractors and ensure compliance with scope, specifications, and programme.
    • Support NEC contract administration, including Early Warnings, Compensation Events, and PMIs.
    • Ensure proper control of scope changes and associated cost implications.
    • Oversee RFQ development, technical evaluations, and contractor alignment.
    • Ensure compliance with quality management systems and project procedures.
    • Monitor productivity and implement corrective actions where required.
    • Ensure all work is properly authorised and supported by contractual documentation.
    • Maintain accurate progress, cost, and performance reporting.
    • Support preparation of handover documentation, including as-builts and databooks.
    • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture aligned with company and client standards.

    Qualifications:

    • BSc / BEng / BTech in Civil Engineering
    • Professional registration (Pr Eng / Pr Tech Eng) preferred
    • PMP advantageous

    Experience:

    • Minimum 10–15 years’ experience in civil engineering, construction, and project management
    • Experience in EPC/EPCM environments within mining or heavy industrial projects
    • Experience in bulk earthworks, concrete structures, and infrastructure projects
    • Experience working in similar client environments advantageous

    Head of Mining

    Key Responsibilities

    Project Management

    • Align the Project Management (PM) strategy with the organisational strategy, goals, and objectives, and execution of the project management strategy;
    • Lead and manage the PM practice and related initiatives, including training, across the organisation;
    • Improve the maturity level of the company’s project delivery systems;
    • Monitor, measure, improve, and sustain operational performance across all projects in the organisation;
    • Manage and mitigate project delivery risk by liaising directly with Project Managers and client bodies;
    • Reduce project delivery risks by ensuring projects are implemented in accordance with defined GIBB MEP commercial terms;
    • Ensure the PM function supports the client risk appetite and expectations;
    • Manage commercial risk relevant to the various client procurement modalities;

    Operational

    • Resource management and optimisation across service lines to optimise project profitability;
    • Improved Project Delivery Efficiencies to meet expectations and risk management;
    • Ensure compliance with Safety Health and Quality standards SHERQ during project delivery;
    • Management of Professional Indemnity Insurance and associated claims;
    • In consultation with the Managing Director, the management of joint venture agreements and non-GIBB MEP or non-standard terms of agreement;
    • Enterprise risk management.

    People

    • Training and development of staff , including Project Executives and Project Managers in company project delivery systems;
    • Talent management ito performance management, coaching, mentoring.
    • Staff satisfaction; and  Employment Equity and Transformation targets;
    • Manage staff rewards and benefits in accordance with the Subsidiary’s policies.

    Clients

    • Effective client relationships and networking – building strong relationships with Key stakeholders.,  
    • Ensure client satisfaction and increased client retention;
    • Opportunities shall be multidisciplinary and the HOM shall integrate all of GIBB’s services into solutions provided to the client.

    Financial

    • Ensure profitable growth, new business opportunities;
    • Ensure achievement of company Gross Profitability targets;
    • Provide, gain approval and implement the plan to grow the business for the GIBB Group.

    Requirements

    Qualifications

    • BSc/BEng in Civil Engineering.
    • Master’s Degree in Engineering.
    • Professional Engineer (Pr Eng).
    • Proven experience in the Mining environment in South Africa and Africa.
    • PMP / SACPCMP or related registration preferred.
    • MSC/PhD advantageous.

    Experience 

    • Minimum 15 years’ experience in the Mining sector;
    • Minimum 8 years’ management experience leading technical delivery teams;
    • Private sector experience and led or part of leading a business with at least R100m turnover;
    • Successful sales generation and market development, with current market knowledge;
    • Strong business network in the private sector.

    Managing Director (MD): Mining and Power

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop an effective approved strategic business growth plan for the company, in line with the overall Group Strategy, to ensure a sustainable and profitable business unit;
    • Ensure that the strategic plans contained in the Business plan are well communicated and implementation is monitored continuously;
    • Provide dynamic and effective leadership;
    • Oversee key client management and retention strategies;
    • Identify new growth opportunities on the continent;
    • · Commercial structuring of appointments with sufficient commercial acumen to not limit growth and the provision of client solutions;
    • Oversee the planning and preparation of expressions of interest, proposals and final bids to achieve fee targets, in conjunction with the Bid Office where necessary ;
    • Cultivate and maintain regular contact with key existing and potential clients in conjunction with the Market Sector Coordinators, Project Managers and other relevant senior staff;
    • Oversee the efficient delivery and performance of Projects;
    • Lead and coordinate Commercial / Joint Ventures; and
    • Represent the Group in a professional business-like manner to enhance the Group’s reputation at all times. 

    Qualifications

    • BSc / BEng in Electrical Engineering; 
    • Pr Eng; 
    • MSc or PhD (advantageous);
    • MBA (advantageous).

    Experience 

    • 15+ years in Mining/Power sector (majority in Power);
    • 10+ years in a management role in a professional services firm;
    • 5+ years in a senior leadership role in a Power business;
    • Private sector experience and led a business with at least R100m turnover;
    • Successful sales generation & market development record, with current market knowledge;
    • Strong business network in the private‑sector.
