    Grp Financial Accountant

    Job Purpose

    The Group Financial Accountant is responsible to prepare, analyse and report on the financial data and consolidated accounts for the Sun International Limited Group timeously and accurately, in line with policy, frameworks and tools based on researched leading and industry practice and relevant statutory regulations.
    The role will achieve these objectives by partnering with the Sun International leadership, finance teams at a central and operational level, and through dealing with external stakeholders and banking authorities. This role will also be required to support specialised Group financial projects as required.

    Education

    • B.Com Honours (CTA) with Articles
    • Registration as a Chartered Accountant

    Experience

    • At least 4 years post articles experience
    • Experience in Cognos reporting tool and IFS ERP system 
    • Strong understanding of financial management, regulations and the legislative environment
    • Experience in a hospitality/gaming industry environment an advantage

    Key Performance Areas

    • Lead the consolidated financial reporting for all financial operations across the Group to ensure the financial position of Sun International is accurate, up-to-date and complete. These reports will include:
    • Monthly management reports
    • Quarterly management reports
    • Year end and Interim reporting
    • Budget and forecasting reporting
    • Exco and Board reporting
    • Capex reporting
    • Investigate unusual variances relative to budget and previous year; find solutions to resolve anomalies and follow-up to ensure execution or change in procedure
    • Conduct analyses of business results and identify relative trends to ensure realistic forecasts
    • Compile, monitor and review monthly, quarterly and annual Budgets and forecasting reports for the Group
    • Assist with the preparation of the Group Annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS
    • Assist with Investor presentations and Integrated Annual Reporting
    • Manage the activities around the interim and year-end reporting requirements and deadlines
    • Interpret results and commentary on financial results and prepare reports for distribution to investors and analysts
    • Provide value-adding recommendations to optimise financial performance (with regards reporting and processes).
    • Compile and provide board packs and reports in line with management requirements that assist stakeholders in making relevant decisions e.g. trend analyses on performance in different areas of the business for specific timeframes
    • Develop and update Group financial governance reporting, standards, processes and tools including templates and tools for the completion of results and budgets
    • Develop, align and update financial reporting practices with new legislative and tax regulations
    • Communicate and monitor compliance to financial procedures, and implement sufficient control measures (including systems and processes) & checks to mitigate any financial risk to the business
    • Act as the subject matter expert on Financial and statutory legislation and finance requirements for the Group
    • Communicate proactively with units to review and reconcile data needed for reporting; and follow-up on outstanding information
    • Partner with Business Unit financial accountants and financial managers to ensure the correct and timeous consolidation of financial results and reporting
    • Handle any referred and escalated complaints, disputes and suggestions as required, offering expert advice in order to resolve any issues or challenges
    • Provide counsel and advice to Financial Managers and Accountants on latest developments; risks identified and recommendations
    • Identify any training needs or gaps in interaction with unit finance, and manage outputs in order to achieve financial reporting objectives to standards and in line with deadlines
    • Communicate pro-actively with Business Operations, to review financial position, challenges, impacts and report timeously on revenue and financial position; offering support as required
    • Act as a point of contact and co-ordinate audits for the Group
    • Conduct impact analyses and support adhoc management projects
    • Report and consult with top management on risk areas and remedial action to be taken

    F&B Supervisor ~ Pen : CAS

    Education

    • 3-Year Hotel School Diploma or equivalent national qualification in hospitality at Diploma level

    Experience

    • 3-4 years in the Food and Beverage Industry including experience in Banqueting, In-Room Dining; and / or Restaurant Operations

    Key Performance Areas

    Shift Supervision

    • Put in place staff scheduling and duty allocations to ensure maximum coverage
    • Handle shift briefings / handovers / shift reports
    • Interact and be present on the floor during service to understand and assist clients with requests, special requirements, recommendations, concerns, resolution of complaints, etc.
    • Manage staff appearance and floor appearance/ functioning of equipment and systems for the outlet
    • Report and resolve any issues experienced
    • Manage the control of stock and operating equipment as per SOP for the outlet
    • Cash-ups at the end of the shift

    Food & Beverage Product Offering

    • Monitor service offering / products and pricing within F&B
    • Make recommendations of improvements to the product and service offering
    • Co-ordinate the implementation of the food and beverage promotional calendar for outlets
    • Monitor customer service standards and identify any areas of concern
    • Conduct maintenance walkabouts for front of house and back of house areas
    • Monitor health, safety, hygiene and environmental elements in the area
    • Monitor the use and storage of operating equipment
    • Monitor stock control and operating equipment control processes
    • Investigate variances / discrepancies and take necessary action to correct
    • Conferencing Product

    Liaises with clients

    • Attends pre-conference meetings
    • Provides client with relevant solutions / options for conferencing – including set-up, themes, décor, lighting, equipment, etc.
    • Conduct QA to ensure set-up is in line with client requirements
    • Present at functions to ensure execution is in line with client requirements
    • Manages staff appearance and floor appearance/ functioning of equipment and systems
    • Control and management of stock and operating equipment as per SOP
    • Liaises with Technical to ensure maintenance schedule plan is adhered to and any issues resolved
    • Monitors and reports on functions
    • Provide input into the post-mortem on events and makes recommendations for improvements
    • Provides ideas and solutions that are innovative and in line with industry trends

    People Supervision

    • Supervise staff conditions of employment, e.g. attendance, absenteeism, leave, adherence to policies and procedures
    • Identification of employee training needs
    • Perform on the job training and coaching to close developmental gaps and build succession for a talent pipeline within the outlet
    • Supervise employee relations within the department
    • Staff communication and motivation
    • Performance contracting, reviews and development
    • Assist in providing resources and removing obstacles to performance
    • Onboarding of new staff members

    Financial Control

    • Authorise spend in line with budget
    • Conduct accurate 10 - 20 day stock takes for the outlet in line with Company process
    • Report on any variances for the outlet

    Delivered Customer Experience

    • Monitor service standards and staff: guest interaction on the floor to ensures all guests are treated with courtesy and respect at all times
    • Handle and resolve any guest special requests, queries or complaints
    • Shift hand over ensures that staff can provide customers with relevant service
    • Understand, record and implement special requirements for return guests and VIPs
