About the role:

• You will closely interact with clients and brokers as the technical owner of all Risk Management property-related matters focusing or our South Africa book-of-business.
• You would be the technical owner of all Risk Management property-related matters.
• You will be responsible for defining a servicing strategy to engineer your own portfolio.
• You'll be challenged to innovate and work with teams to create solutions for our clients.

• Lead your own field-engineering visits
• Serve as the account engineer, depending on skills you may conduct loss prevention visits for clients in the EMEA Region
• Drive various projects and initiatives
• Create standard methodologies and guidelines or papers and industry updates

Required:

• Master or Bachelor degree in Engineering
• Strong Property loss prevention background at a reputable property risk engineering provider
• Proficient digital literacy (e.g., Microsoft Office products, work with databases, data analytics) and ideally an affinity to digital solutions (technical savviness)
• Language skills: English (business proficient)
• Willingness to travel – mainly within South Africa, Africa and Europe
• Driving license 

Preferred:

• Language Skills: Dutch and/or French (mother tongue/business proficient)

Main Responsibilities:

In the role of Head of Operations, your main responsibilities include the following:

• Ownership of South African business operations, leading the Business Services Team to support key business initiatives
• To develop an operational strategy for the South African business
• Achieve best in class service delivery working with centralized, outsourced and third-party functions/teams
• Hosting of engagements with both our regulators and supervisory authorities
• Coordination of regulatory and/or supervisory returns
• Driving efficiency improvements across technical accounting, underwriting support, claims operations and strategic initiatives, whether through technology, process or organizational refinement

About you:

• Bachelors Degree (Undergraduate, Honours)
• Minimum 8 years relevant experience within the financial services industry, preferably insurance; previous leadership experience a must
• Proven track record in end-to-end operations management, ideally supplemented with knowledge in business services, underwriting processes and claims processing.
• Fully proficient in English (reading, written and verbal)
• Able to prioritize, plan, coordinate and monitor personal work plan to lead all aspects of multiple activities
• Attracts, selects, develops, and retains outstanding talent to meet current business needs and prepare for future challenges and growth goals
• Excellent computer skills - Microsoft Office (Access, MS Project, and Visio is a plus)

• Regulatory & Key Individual exams (RE5 & KI)
• Lean, Business Process Management or Six Sigma certification
• Post-Graduate Business qualification #
