    Commercial Vehicle Assembler

    Position Title : 7 x Commercial Vehicle Assembler (12 month Fixed Term Contract) 

    • The main purpose of the job is to assemble Heavy Duty Trucks/Vehicles in line with the Volvo Production System Standards.

    Reporting: This position will report to the Production Team Leader.
    Job Objectives

    • To assembles Vehicles and vehicle sub-components in line with Plant SQCDP Targets and according to Sprint instructions.
    • Perform other related responsibilities and carry out 5S and Housekeeping responsibilities.
    • To ensure that all tooling and equipment is well maintained
    • Ensure that all SOPs and Safety regulations are well adhered to and immediately report deviations to superior.
    • Participate and contribute in all other Production related activities ie Kaizen and Gemba events.

    Education & Job Experience

    • Grade 12 with Passes in Mathematics and Science.
    • Training will be provided
    • Those with relevant/similar experience from the automotive industry will have a definite advantage

    Job Knowledge & Skills

    • Ability to use basic hand tools
    • Physically Fit and able to lift heavy equipment.
    • Ability to read and follow assembly instructions.
    • Should be technically minded and practical
    • Computer skills (Basic)
    • Good Interpersonal Skills
    • Good Written and Verbal Communication Skills –English
    • Good Problem Solving Skills
    • Team Player
    • Must be Flexible

    Maintenance Operator

    Position Description

    • Position Title: Maintenance Operator - 12 month Fixed Term Contract
    • Volvo Group Southern Africa provides an opportunity in the following area: Engineering, Maintenance and CA Operations. This Position will be mainly based at the Volvo Truck Customer Adaptation Center in Durban. This position reports to Maintenance Leader that is based at the Durban Assembly Plant.

    Responsibilities / Main Tasks

    • Preventive & Corrective maintenance on production equipment and facility.
    • Purchasing of maintenance work & spares (service, repairs).
    • Support AM activities together with production department.
    • Calibration and inspection of torque tools, measurement tools and test equipment.
    • Documentation of all equipment on to the master list.
    • Assisting in the installation of new manufacturing equipment
    • Troubleshooting and repair of tools and equipment.
    • Support production in continuous improvement action log.
    • Being part of Engineering, Maintenance and Customer Adaptation Operations team in Durban also means to support colleagues in other areas if needed.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Matric/NQF 6 or any related qualification will be advantageous
    • A minimum of 2 years relevant experience from similar work environment
    • Computer literacy
    • Must meet medical requirements (SIGHT/COLOUR/HEARING/WORKING ON HEIGHTS).
    • Willing and able to work a flexible work schedule when required
    • Good communication skills, both oral and written.

    Knowledge, Skills And Experience

    • Good knowledge in assembly process and equipment. Preferably from automotive industry.
    • Knowledge in 5S. Other knowledge within Lean Manufacturing is an advantage.
    • Knowledge of measuring equipment and calibration.
    • Structured with good analytical and problem solving skills. Including the ability and willingness to apply a systematic approach to the process.
    • Ability to work well within a team required.
    • Can prioritize workload and multi-task.
