    Platform Security Engineer

    You will be focused on the evaluation, testing, implementation and support of the security solutions on the endpoints.

    Job Description

    What you’ll get to do:

    The role is within the Converged Security Office your responsibilities will include the following:

    • Help define a long-term vision for maintaining and scaling our Privileged Access (e.g. authorisation, two-factor setup, least privilege access) and/or Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) solutions

    • Create trustworthy user experiences by building interfaces that are simple, easy to comprehend, performant and reliable

    • Configure, test, pilot and rollout new user-facing experiences in modern tools

    • Ensuring that platforms, with architecture input, are maintained in the most current state and not allowed to become obsolete

    • Develop detailed technical configuration documents, working closely with the security architecture, risk management and standards groups

    • Developing, maintaining, and updating internal process documentation

    • Provide support to internal Absa projects

    • Provide platform related reports periodically

    • Perform problem diagnosis; performance tuning; capacity planning and configuration management for the platforms

    • Respond to platforms related incidents within the defined SLA times

    • Provide standby support for the platforms on weekends/holidays as per the roster

    • Combine the knowledge of security technology evaluations and emerging products with security business needs

    • Ability to work with other engineers both internally and external to Absa

    • Ability to manage vendor relationships knowing due diligence goes beyond just the technology and engaging with the right business people to ensure Absa fully leverages vendor relationships

    What do you need to get in?

    • NQF level 6 B Degree

    • 8 years (technical/lead) experience in technology

    • 6 years Security Engineering experience preferably within a large financial institution

    • Industry & Vendor certifications – CISSP, CISM,  GIAC, Linux, Windows, etc. preferred

    • Experience in engineering and support of BeyondTrust suite and/or CrowdStrike will be advantageous

    • Experience in API integrations will be advantageous

    • Working experience in Operating Systems such as Linux, Windows, MacOS

    • Solid understanding of Web Services technologies (e.g. XML, .NET, JAVA) and remote access protocols (SSH, RDP, SCP)

    • Experience in automation technologies will be advantageous

    • Strong knowledge of information security frameworks and standards such as CIS, ISO27001,

    • Comprehensive grasp of emerging security technologies and threats for mobile & digital channels

    • Knowledge in multiple information security technologies and their strengths and shortcomings

    • Experience with securing information for cross-functional, cross-platform applications

    • Monitors marketplace trends, vulnerabilities, emergent threats and audit/control issues

    • Must have a high degree of initiative and self-motivation and demonstrate the ability to drive results

    • Strong communication skills both verbal and written and strong relationship and collaborative skills and organizational skills with the ability to work as a member of Group cyber team and geographically distributed engineering teams (ARO)

    Senior Technical Specialist Payment Partnerships (Everyday Banking)

    Job Summary

    As part of the Payment Partnerships centre of excellence, the role holder will provide oversight guidance, advice, and support to the impacted business product teams in relation to all Card Scheme and Payment System Operator (PSO) change activity.

    Performing the role of a subject matter expert, the role holder will support the establishment of an overall health position of Absa Payment partnerships in relation to Card Schemes and PSO’s supporting transactions flowing via the card payment rails.

    Working in close collaboration with BU product areas, the role holder will analyse the Schemes Bulletins and technical Mandatory Schemes Release documents and size the likely risk or opportunity impact of all bulletins, mandatory releases, and new compliance requirements from the card schemes and PSO’s to inform the decision-making process whether to make the change.

    For all approved change activity, the role holder will form part of the business unit project team to ensure that the requirements are defined, built, tested, and deployed to comply with the new requirement.

    Job Description

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

    Accountability: Relationship Management and Industry representation 

    • Evaluation of the impact of all new bulletins, mandatory releases, and compliance requirements to inform the BU product team’s decision regarding the change.
    • Where additional time is required to comply, compilation of the motivation for a waiver to extend the timeframe to achieve compliance.
    • Ongoing engagements and updates to the Card Scheme or PSO to ensure the correct level of support is available to evaluate and deliver the change.
    • Maintain strong relationships with the Card Scheme and PSO partners and the product level relationships as these relationships will frequently be stress tested in various ways (Commercial, Contractual, Operational, Compliance, Change, New Opportunities etc.).  
    • Facilitate sessions between Product, Group Information Services (GIS) teams, Group Information Technology (IT), Group Finance teams, Product Control and Risk Management (IRM) teams to maintain and track the integrity of payment and settlement transactions across the value chain. 

    Accountability: Reporting, Analytics and Insights 

    • Lead the bi-annual Schemes Mandatory Release kick-off sessions with all the applicable internal stakeholders (Tech, Business, Change, Fraud, Compliance, Risk and Product Control and Design)
    • Schedule clarification sessions with the PSO’s where required
    • Attend all project meetings pertaining to bi-annual Mandatory Schemes Releases
    • Support the Project Manager to ensure regular performance engagements, reporting and assessments are done.
    • Manage and track all Bulletins and Mandatory Schemes Release roll-overs to ensure compliance on an annual basis.
    • Reporting on identified risks associated with changes in the card schemes ecosystem and performance of change initiatives to achieve scheme compliance.
    • Ensure that the BU product teams have line of sight to all applicable compliance programs and the impacted product areas are clear on any potential non-compliance triggers.
    • Recommend changes to the way of work in accordance with best practice in the Card industry. 
    • Identify opportunities for the Card Schemes and PSO’s to share capability that further enhances our overall payments product offerings
    • Contribute to the overall Risk management strategy across the Card payment value chain. 

    Accountability: Financial Management

    • Engage Schemes Finance on any potential price changes applicable to PSO bulletins and Schemes Mandatory Releases.
    • Ensure that all gaps are identified and closed when it comes to revenue and other leakages.
    • Maintain the balancing process between Business, IT and Finance in order to optimize the revenue generated from payment partnerships 
    • Contribute to the optimization of the Absa Card Payment strategy, business planning processes and Book of Work deliverables. 

    Accountability: People Management

    • Support the overall development of the Payment Partnership team activities.

    Education and Experience Required 

    • B Degree or equivalent NQF Level 7 qualification or higher 
    • At least three (3) years Payment’s expertise (i.e., worked in Card Issuing, Acquiring or Payments Environments) 
    • Solid experience of working across external organizations in the payments industry 
    • Analytics and Project Management experience is a distinct advantage.
