    Logistics Specialist

    Job Purpose:

    • Manage the end-to-end logistics process, from order confirmation to delivery and returns, utilizing Bayer analytics tools (SAP, TMS, Smart Center, Four Kites systems).
    • Coordinate with internal, direct customers and 3PL to ensure timely and efficient execution of logistics activities.

    Key Task and Responsibilities:

    • Lead and optimize logistics operations to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of products to customers.
    • Analyze logistics performance data to identify opportunities for improvement and implement strategic cost saving solutions.
    • Execute end-to-end TMS planning, including cost optimization, vehicle and route optimization, turnaround time management and communication
    • Create shipments in TMS and manage the delivery confirmation process with commercial teams, direct customers, and 3PLs.
    • Ensure accurate freight carrier information in TMS and validate freight bill costs against SAP. Submit necessary documents (PO, GRV) to finance for invoice processing.
    • Maintain and update rate cards in the Transportation Management System (TMS) on a monthly and annual basis.
    • Coordinate inter-facility stock transfers (STOs) for seed and crop protection portfolios.
    • Consolidate daily VLO60 report and submit to the commercial & customer interaction teams.
    • Manage the delivery confirmation process with the commercial team, direct customer & 3PL.
    • Monitor EDI connection flow between 3PLs and Bayer internal systems.
    • Maintain effective communication and collaboration with internal and external teams (commercial, direct customers, 3PL).
    • Collaborate with the 3PL to conduct weekly and monthly inventory reconciliations. Identify and resolve any discrepancies between physical inventory and system records.
    • Analyze inventory data to identify trends and potential issues. Manage and monitor logistics functionality KPI’s (Smart Center – TMS vehicle utilization, TMS optimization, TMS adoption, Tender adherence, on time pickup, on time delivery, freight cost, last mile visibility).
    • Ensure all proof of delivery documentation (POD’s), goods return notes (GRN), exchange/return  approval is captured into TMS for each respective SAP delivery processed.
    • Liaise with the commercial and 3PL warehouse teams to manage and coordinate the GRN process, enabling logistics to process return credits within 48 hours of receipt.
    • Utilise Bayer analytics tools:
    • Transport Management Systems (TMS:):
    • Manage all aspects of transportation, including carrier selection, route planning, load optimization, and shipment tracking
    • Optimize routes, consolidate shipments, and negotiate better rates with carriers, leading to cost savings Smart Center:
    • Monitor the dashboard to manage TMS shipment status (on time, at risk, delayed) Four Kites:
    • Monitor the progress of their goods in transit to provide real-time tracking of shipments SAP:
    • Delivery release, EDI transmission flow
    • Ensure all consignment stock is uplifted, processed, and inventory is returned to the 3PL warehouse.
    • Provide updates to the 3PL regarding carrier arrival slots, customer and consignment returns.
    • Process returned consignments within 48 hours of receipt in the SAP system accordingly.
    • Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements for seed and crop protection warehouse and distribution activities, including freight carrier compliance.
    • Liaise with suppliers/vendors and undertake vendor evaluations to ensure good service delivery while ensuring timely approval and payment of their invoices.
    • Support customer complaints investigations
    • Undertake additional administrative, project, and ad-hoc functional support tasks as needed

    Qualifications and Competencies

    • Minimum of 3 years experience within Distribution and Warehousing, Import & Exports, logistics
    • Degree/Diploma in Supply chain management/ Distribution and Warehousing/ Logistics/ IT programming/systems
    • Strong understanding & execution of logistics principles and practices
    • Computer literate, Microsoft office proficient and SAP experience
    • Excellent  written, verbal, interpersonal and communication skills
    • Knowledge of the Seed and Agricultural chemical markets is advantageous
    • Fluent in English, Afrikaans,  local vernacular advantageous

    Production Research Data Analyst

    Purpose: 

    • The Production Research Data Analyst role is responsible for supporting the success of delivering the pipeline and data insights.
    • This role will support activities related to data governance, analysis and reporting to internal and external stakeholders across Africa.
    • Furthermore, responsibilities include adherence to Bayer safety, quality, and operational procedures.

    Key Responsibilities: 

    The Production Research Data Analyst will be responsible for:

    • Building and validating dashboards using preferred visualization software
    • Compiling documentation of analytical processes and results, adhering to agreed documentation standards

    • Extract actionable insights from raw data

    Qualifications & Experience:

    Education

    • 2-years’ experience in a relevant Agricultural discipline (agricultural research, plant physiology, plant breeding or related field)

    Experience:

    • Hands-on experience designing and building dashboards and reports using visualization tools
    • Proven track record of successfully reporting data insights to stakeholders
    • Strong record of problem-solving and innovation
    • Experience working in a team-based environment and capacity to influence within matrixed organizations (relationships and network)
    • Data mining and wrangling experience using programming languages such as R
    • Proficient in downloading data from databases using software and tools such as Google Big Query

    Qualifications:

    Tax Lead and LEFIM Southern Africa

    Main Purpose:

    • Responsible for operations and compliance in the area of taxation and ensure internal controls as per global and local guidelines - processes audit and control system
    • The jobholder is responsible for all legal entity financial topics for Southern Africa (e.g., planning and forecasting processes) and ensures proper local implementation of key corporate processes, directives and functions. 

    Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

    • Ensure compliance with all local tax laws in the area of Corporate taxes and VAT including tax payments, tax return submissions in addition to Bayer Global guidelines and KPIs such as Effective tax rate and BKA reporting
    • Identification of tax risks and implement mitigation procedures in addition to performing all tax calculations for accounting and audit purposes;
    • Liaise with tax authorities, tax advisors including transfer price offices;
    • Training of business group representatives on VAT and import duty issues;
    • Support tax audits and tax litigation including related risk management Manage and support transfer pricing
    • Tax planning and preparation of annual tax returns, provisional tax payments
    • Ensure compliance with all local tax laws in the area of Corporate taxes Support in development and ensure implementation of directives/ guidelines/ SOPs in coordination with function area responsible. Scrutinize internal control system and processes to identify control weaknesses, suggest and develop control measures, and supervise/follow up implementation and do walk-throughs;
    • Perform ad hoc internal audits/forensic audits/complaints through "fraud line";
    • Assist – Corporate internal audits/ Statutory audits

    LEFIM:

    • Perform short term planning, forecasting and recording/ documenting of Legal Entity Financials.
    • Prepare local LE income statement and consolidation for tax Forecast and Transfer Pricing
    • Prepare local LE cash flow for Liquidity planning and impairment testing Prepare necessary financials for exposure planning
    • Ensure compliant and timely delivery to global systems (e.g. data.one, CoFiPot, BayTC)
    • Ensure data integrity and error corrections
    • Support external reporting to authorities
    • Comply with Bayer standard Financial Steering process and timelines (divisional & non divisional)
    • Operational implementation and change management of defined planning process and tools
    • Responsible for local governance of intercompany transactions and intercompany contracts
    • Ensure compliance with ICS relevant activities concerning legal entity relevant processes

    Key Working Relations:

    • Contact with Divisional Finance Managers for transaction details, explanations, supporting documents, etc
    • Training of BG personnel/central services on tax requirements – VAT and import dates;

    Qualifications & Competencies:

    • Qualification: CA(SA) with specialisation in the field of Taxation 
    • Experience: 5-8 years of relevant tax experience

    • Attention to fine detail in applying tax knowledge/analyzing facts and tax law.
    • Project Management – Time bound projects with stakeholder management.
    • Recognize problem situations and make suggestions to solve this in difficult/confidential situations.
    • Ability to cope with stress and unusual/difficult situations and not losing control, meeting deadlines, maintain professional independence, adapt to a new methods and techniques.
    • Ability to work in teams as well as alone.
    • Good presentation and communication skills.
