    Process and Utilities Engineer - Springs

    Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to: 

    • Ensuring compliance to environmental, health, safety and risk management standards. 
    • Ensure that world class asset care and maintenance principles are introduced and adhered to (efficient asset utilization). Compile, manage and control maintenance budget including capex 
    • Maintain effective control of all project funding requests (i.e. abnormal maintenance and capital) 
    • Manage performance and people development within the department. 
    • Managing maintenance projects and feasibility studies. 
    • Plan utilities availability and planned shutdowns and assist with compiling short and long term equipment replacement plan Develop and Management of quality systems (ISO 9001/2000) in responsibility area. 
    • Ensure compliance to OHSACT and all Distell Risk, Health and Safety procedures, including statutory requirements Ensure crew complies and adheres to all relevant policies, procedures, work instruction and SOPs 
    • Develop and implement annual departmental business plans and assist in site’s business plan. 
    • Innovation and business improvements in support of operational goals. 
    • Ensure maintenance plans for equipment is current and drive ICC compliance 
    • Problem solving and technical guidance of the maintenance teams 
    • Ensure that plant maintenance standards are met and RCM principles are applied 
    • Management and co-ordination of an efficient maintenance function throughout the plant 
    • Reduction of unplanned downtime, optimise utilization and efficiency of plant resources. Drive sustainability agenda across site. 
    • Manage multi-disciplinary projects from inception until final commissioning.  
    • Conduct all the required risk assessments and Hazop processes in compliance with Distell Requirements 
    • Develop project schedules to ensure projects are closely managed. 
    • Lead the process of projects FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) and PAT (Performance Acceptance Test) 
    • Ensure that staff is trained and signed off on operation of new equipment. 
    • Develop project close out to ensure snags are closed and project formally handed over to the site. 
    • Managing and maintaining site facilities and infrastructure.

    The successful candidate must have the following qualifications, skills, and experience: 

    • Relevant and recognised tertiary qualification BSc degree, B. Tech degree or National Higher Engineering Diploma in Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering. 
    • A Government Certificate of Competency (Factories) is compulsory.
    • At least 5 years’ experience in coal fired boiler operation and maintenance. 
    • At least 5 years’ experience in managing general utilities i.e. water, gas, refrigeration plant, compressors, waste water. 
    • At least 5 years relevant maintenance and project management experience, preferably in a beverage or fast-moving consumables goods environment. (Including budget control).
    • Good working knowledge of plant items in light industrial applications (i.e. coal boilers, steam systems, cooling towers, refrigeration systems, air compressors, waste water treatment plants, water filtration (UF/RO), valves, pumps, piping systems, heat exchangers, electrical systems, instrumentation and civil work etc.) 
    • Project management experience, preferably in a beverage- or related production environment. 
    • Computer literacy (i.e. Microsoft Office, Excel, SAPR3/ PM, etc.) 
    • A willingness to work outside of normal working hours, when required People management, performance management and leadership skills. 
    • Sound written and verbal communication skills at various levels of employees. A self-starter with high levels of energy and motivation 
    • The successful candidate must be innovative and drive best practices.

    Cellar Process Operator - Wadeville

    Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:

    • Achieve blending & production plan targets for the week
    • Operate and attend to power driven machines particular to the industry for example (Pumps, Filters) both in the plant and on SCADA
    • Ensure quality standards are adhered to by completing quality checks and related problem solving
    • Pump and pipeline preparations for transfers of high value products
    • Complete process control documentation
    • Perform physical tank readings and sampling
    • Calculating additions and corrections on products
    • Innovative approach to processes to improve and problem solve
    • Attend and participate in MDT (mission direct teams) & Workplace Improvement
    • Complete records, stocktake participant
    • Responsible for quality and losses in area
    • Supervise staff and coordinate shift activities

    The successful candidate must have the following experience/skills:

    • Technical Grade 12 or equivalent
    • Operationally orientated
    • 2 – 4 years relevant experience in Cellars environment
    • NQF level 4 in relevant field e.g. biotechnology, microbiology advantageous  
    • Must be able to work with little supervision
    • Physical healthy and strong
    • Ability to work under pressure
    • Accurate numerical abilities to calculate blends and ingredient quantities
    • Willingness to work overtime and day/night shift

    Engineering Manager -Springs

    Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:

    • Development of budgets and consistently meet budgeted financial targets (CAPEX/OPEX)
    • Effective coordination of capital and abnormal maintenance projects in managing more complex projects
    • Ensure that asset and equipment registers are up to date and maintained
    • Development of sustainability targets and consistently meet the targets. (Water, Energy, Electricity & Effluent)
    • Develop plans, regularly review performance against targets, and report on the performance to ensure continuous improvement
    • Effective management of improvement initiatives and process improvement projects
    • Develop long-term plans to promote effective decision making (e.g. Site master plans and equipment replacement strategies)
    • Drive manufacturing plant reliability and efficiencies. Manage execution of Engineering work across the site
    • Ensure efficient and effective execution of the site SAP plant maintenance system
    • Implement new ideas and improved methods/systems and work processes and drive standardisation that will lead to higher quality and/or reduced cost
    • Assist with problem solving and give technical guidance
    • Drive the implementation of Asset Care
    • Actively participate in the Empowering Excellence programme (i.e., specific focus on 5’s-, Focussed Improvement- and Visual Management modules) 
    • Drive OHSAct compliance and gap closure of safety audit findings in close collaboration with the HS&E Manager
    • Ensure engineering/maintenance human capital is utilised effectively and productively (incl. development of team members)
    • Create an environment for challenging status quo, risk rating improvement and sharing of knowledge
    • Build trusting and effective relationships with COE, GES, customers, and suppliers
    • Create a sense of common purpose across the engineering team by providing targeted and regular feedback about company performance in line with organisational objectives
    • Ensuring team members have clear, current, and measurable goals within engineering fraternity that are aligned with the wider Supply Chain Engineering goals
       

    The successful candidate must have the following attributes, qualifications, skills, and experience:

    • B-Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent engineering qualification
    • A Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) is required
    • At least 5 years’ relevant experience in a senior role within a FMCG manufacturing environment
    • Experience in managing and maintaining site Utilities 
    • Sound project management experience
    • Advanced PC literacy (MS Office, SAP)
    • Advanced analytical and critical thinking skills
    • Sound interpersonal and communication skills
    • Articulate with good presentation skills
    • Well-developed strategic and conceptual skills
    • Excellent leadership ability
    • Team player with strong relationship building ability and influencing skills

    Engineering Controller - JC Le Roux

    Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:

    Ensure compliance and adherence to Safety, Health, Environment, Risk & Quality (SHERQ) Management routines. This includes be appointed as:

    •                   Appointed General Machinery Regulation 2 (GMR2) - Supervision of Machinery for the plant.
    •                   Member of Site Food Safety Team (FST)
    •                   Member of Site Safety Committee (SC) 
    •                   Member of Site Incident Management Team (IMT) 

    Ensure effective Governance and adherence to Internal Control Checks (ICC’s) . This Includes

    •                  Perform Maintenance ICC
    •                  Ensure adherence to OHSACT and all Safety, Health, Environment, Risk, Quality procedures and statutory requirements. 
    •                  Perform hazard and operational assessments. 
    •                  Ensure safe use of plant and machinery.

    Ensure effective Asset Care 

    •                  Ensure effective management and adherence to maintenance plans. 
    •                  Ensure that plant maintenance standards are met and that the necessary RCM principles are applied.
    •                  Compile and maintain master equipment replacement plan for the plant.
    •                  Assist with scoping and compilation of business cases for abnormal and capex projects for plant.

    Financial Management 

    •                  Compile and manage OPEX budget for your department. 
    •                  Compile and manage maintenance budgets for the plant.  

    Improve Productivity & Delivery

    •                  Ensure efficient asset utilization and reliable plant utilities.
    •                  Resource management, recording and monitoring to ensure efficient employee utilization.
    •                  Provide optimal service in optimizing all the assets within agreed service levels.
    •                  Increase Overall Equipment Efficiency for the plant.

    Leadership & Management

    •                 Leading & managing change and developing a culture of continuous improvement.

    The successful candidate must have the following qualification, skills and experience:

    •  Must have relevant qualificat
    •  N5 with Trade Test, N6/S4 or equivalent will be beneficial.
    •  Qualified Millwright – highly advantageous.  
    • Certified Automation & Control Technician - highly advantageous. 
    • Maintenance Planning experience - added advantage.
    •  Ammonia - CAT B registered - added advantage.
    • 3 – 5 years in Engineering/Production leadership role manging direct reports.
    •  Must have working experience in a packaging environment; wine bottling experience an added advantage Experience in Managing and leading a team is essential.
    •  Experience in Managing a mini business area is essential.
    •  High competence to identify and solve problems.
    • Ability to work independently, and to work under pressure.

    Automation and Control Engineer - Springs

    Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to: 

    • Maintain the integrity of electronic control systems 
    • Ensure updated inventory of all electronic control systems 
    • Ensure current backups for electronic systems on designated server location 
    • Manage access to electronic systems 
    • Coordinate maintenance of electronic hardware components and electronic panels 
    • Compile critical electronic spares lists 
    • Ensure update information (electrical drawing, manuals, etc) regarding electronic systems

    • Improving line control systems 
    • Optimising inspection equipment

     
    The successful candidate must have the following qualifications, skills, and experience: 

    • Relevant and recognised tertiary qualification NDip Electronics/Mechatronics, B Eng Mechatronics, or BSc Electronics Engineering
    • Proven track record of working in a FMCG environment. 
    • Proven Computer literacy in MS Office (SAP PM’s would be an advantage) 
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in maintenance of electronic systems 
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in plc programming (Siemens) 
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in HMI/Scada systems (Wonderware, Zenon ,KHS, Krones etc)
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) 
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Industrial networks (Profibus/Net, EtherNet)
