    Project Control Manager

     In this role you will be assigned to a project leading a team of planning engineers, cost engineers and estimators. You will be responsible for all project control functions through a project from the prefeasibility to execution phase.

    • Studying and understanding all relevant project documents and conditions.
    • Establishing and defining job orientated project control procedures and reporting requirements
    • Prepare set-up plan, assign project controls staff, conduct project controls kick-off meetings and commence set-up
    • Establish project controls baselines, project coding, project controls systems set-up and reporting verification
    • Review and approve the definitive capital cost estimate plans (as developed by the Estimator)
    • Work with client to establish project accounting requirements including approvals, payment and funding processes and reporting requirements
    • Using confirmed prime contract scope, owner's cost, staffing plan and definitive cost estimate; analyze EPCM performance and prepare detailed forecast of remaining work
    • Confirm project authority delegation matrix and once approved by Project Manager, distribute via document control as per distribution matrix
    • Defining primary job objectives clearly at project and departmental management levels by highlighting schedule and cost requirements
    • Organising and directing the activities of the project control team
    • Establishing and implementing document management and control processes
    • Confirm periodic reporting and meeting requirements including the content, format and frequency. Publish the project reporting calendar showing cut-off dates, submission due dates and issues dates.
    • Ensuring the maintenance of both time and cost trend performance indicators and statistics
    • Analysing and comparing both schedule and cost information and relating conclusions such that management control action is alerted at the right time
    • Undergo project progress measurement and earned value
    • Develop project KPI monitoring and reporting
    • Reviewing overall job status with cost/planning engineers and management and recommending corrective action where necessary
    • Reviewing actual progress against planned progress, particularly with regard to manpower levels, productivity, performance metrics and payment
    • Liaising with other team leaders at all meetings relative to project operations, to ensure that information affecting schedule and cost is continually up-dated
    • Co-ordination of the final job statistics and analysis of the effectiveness of procedures for possible improvement on future projects
    • Providing feedback on key project issues to key stakeholder on a timely basis

    Skills / Qualifications / Experience:

    Essential:

    • Tertiary qualifications in engineering or other relevant discipline or substituted project experience.
    • 5 - 10 years relevant post graduate experience in managerial position and a minimum of 10 years’ experience in a project environment with detailed knowledge of Estimating, Cost Control, Planning, and Quantity Surveying
    • Experience in high valued, multi-discipline EPCM environment projects from inception to close out

    Knowledge in the following disciplines:

    • Estimating – Understanding on the fundamentals of estimating and the ability to review total Project and Change Notice estimates to ensure accuracy of estimated costs for the scope of work at hand
    • Cost Control – Ability to understand composite Project budgets, forecasting final costs and the control of the budget i.e. Commitment and Actuals. Full management of Project Trends and Changes to determine legitimacy and estimated impact to project schedule and budget. Management of the usage of Project Allowances i.e. Contingency, Escalation and Forex. Cash-flow monitoring.
    • Planning & Scheduling – Ability to read and understand Project Schedules to ensure a true reflection of the Project progress and forecasted dates. Ability to verify impact of Project Changes to Project Schedule.
    • Quantity Surveying – Knowledge of Quantity Surveying principals and Standard Systems of Measurement. Ability to verify progress payments, final invoices, escalation and Forex calculations.

    Preferred

    • Post graduate qualifications in Management or other professional certification
    • Experience in the establishment of reporting standards, formats and frequency
    • Experience in the, consolidated preparation, collation and presentation of project, financial and other reports
    • Knowledge of EPCM principals, and the ability to interpret and verify Incentive agreements
    • General Construction knowledge together with the understanding on the fundamentals of engineering models and construction drawings
    • Possesses strong personal computer skills (MS Office package).
    • Ability to work under pressure and a key factor is that the incumbent is deliverables driven
    • Interpersonal skills, especially the ability to deal with people, staff and stakeholders at different level of seniority
    • Broad business acumen including risk assessment and management
    • Well-developed communication and presentation skills
    • Conflict management skills
    • Facilitation and negotiation skills
    • Report writing skills.

    Environmental Consultant

    As a successful candidate, you will be;

    You bring to the role;

    • BSc Honours or Masters in Environmental or Natural Sciences qualification at a reputable academic university.
    • Valid professional registration with EAPASA (No application in process will be considered).
    • More than 5 years’ experience in terms of the relevant South African environmental legislation.
    • Experience in IFC Performance Standards and Equator Principles.
    • Experience in the renewable energy industry.
    • Experience in EIAs, WULAs, AELs, WMLs, etc.
    • Experience in Environmental Due Diligence projects.
    • Experience and understanding of Environmental, Social Governance principles.
    • Proficient in the use of MS Word and Excel.
    • Strong writing and communication skills.
    • Valid drivers’ licence and passport.

    Cost Controller

    • The Cost Controller will be responsible for Cost Control Services including but not limited to those of cost estimating, budget control, cost forecasting, cost reporting and cost risk analysis.

    As a successful candidate, you should;

    • Maintain a healthy project within the project budget and ensure compliance to project governance
    • Designs and formulates the financial control for a project and should be able to develop and execute the Cost Management Plan and provide the Project Manager with accurate and up to date cost information to facilitate sound project decision making.
    • Finalize coding of all detailed estimate line items using baselined project control budget in order to establish package/control budgets.
    • Monitors planning and project / progress achievements of milestones and using the project schedule to generate data and curves for each cost profile.
    • Takes part in the financial aspects of the tender process. Assign budget for procurement packages, perform budget reconciliation or scope and pricing and produce reconciliation statement to support recommendations for award.
    • Reviews payment applications in compliance with contract agreements and approves payment certificates.
    • Record and maintain commitments based on procurement contracts, contract amendments, contract change notices, PO revisions
    • Attend periodic reviews and establish and maintain forecasts for all packages and ensure full coding, based on EPCM status report, expenditures (ex-Project Accountant) and project changes/trends (e.g. Trend and Change Coordinator)
    • Forecast project contingency requirements, escalation, forex, currencies etc.
    • Import detailed actual cost and commitment data into cost system and run complete detailed baseline cost report by package
    • Participate in the trending and change management process and incorporate approved trends into the project estimate at completion.
    • Update and maintain budget with approved PCNs
    • Produce cost reports and analyze variances
    • Generate data and curves for each cost profile (baselines and periodic updates)
    • Update budget, commitment, forecast, payment and cost statement for monthly report.
    • Obtain EPCM cost and progress info and update EPCM status report
    • Attend periodic reviews and establish and maintain forecasts for all packages
    • Good knowledge of project management principles
    • Presentation skills

    What you bring to the role;

    • Tertiary qualification in engineering or related discipline or appropriate project related experience
    • A minimum of 8-10 years’ experience as a Cost Controller/Cost Technician in a multidiscipline project environment.
    • Computer literacy
    • Strong personal commitment to safety
    • Good analytical, oral and written communication skills
    • Be fully versed with cost control principles, policies and procedures and financial systems

    Structural Engineer

    You bring to the role;

    • A recognized degree in engineering from an accredited college or university
    • Professional engineer registered with Engineering Council of South Africa (preferred)
    • Minimum 4 years’ experience
    • Ability to manage individuals to attain quality, cost and schedule objectives
    • Experience with working on projects in a multidisciplinary environment
    • Strong deliverable focus, ability to plan the work
    • A high degree of understanding of interdisciplinary dependencies related to the discipline
    • Good understanding of procurement, contracting and commissioning methodologies
    • Strong leadership skills
    • Well developed communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.

    Preferred

    • Good understanding of Hatch systems and workflows as they relate to the structural practice
    • Ability to delegate and manage successful outcomes of work performed by others
    • Experience in the use of procedures and workflows in the execution of projects

    Construction Supervisor Structural, Mechanical, Platework and Piping

    • The Construction Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the construction contractors and maintaining the project performance goals within his geographic area of responsibility. Supervisors coordinate work efforts and ensure activities are sequenced in accordance with the project schedule. A supervisor must be a competent person in the construction trade so that they may accurately evaluate the methods and performance in all respects of the particular scope elements of the project for which he is accountable. Reports to the construction manager.

    As the successful candidate, you will:

    • Responsible for construction supervision and administration including supervision of contractors and their subcontractors for assigned portions of the project
    • Monitors overall job site health, safety and environment performance and verifies that contractors are protecting their workers at the job site
    • Ensure that the works performed by the contractors under his responsibility is executed to the prescribed quality standard
    • Assists in the coordination of the design deliverables to support continuous and efficient construction
    • Communicates the identification, management and resolution of deficiencies and non-conformance to the Construction Manager
    • Assists with site administration and record keeping procedures in accordance with the Construction Execution Plan
    • Assists with construction estimating, scheduling, cost control and reporting for all work being performed by the contractor in his assigned area of the project.
    • Job site point of contact for all contractors in his assigned area of the project

    You bring to the role: 

    • Technical degree or equivalent years of supervisory experience required for a leadership position
    • Minimum five to ten years’ onsite experience on major projects
    • Strong leadership skills, the ability to motivate and lead discipline-focused site teams to successfully execute the assigned scope of work
    • Strong written and oral communication skills
    • Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills
    • Broad knowledge of the EPCM model of project delivery including the activities, interfaces and interdependencies of all project disciplines (engineering, procurement, construction management, and other project related disciplines)
    • Comprehensive knowledge and ability to practically interpret and apply good construction practice and appropriate industry standards.
