    Roll Grinder (Kwazulu Natal)

    Primary purpose of the job: 

    • To operate and ensure the roll grinder machinery in accordance with company standards and operating parameters.

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Adhere to safe work practice and good housekeeping (6S)
    • Carry out the grinding of rolls for CRM and SPM and adhere to the grinding procedures within correct tolerances of dimensions.
    • Monitor the operation of the grinding machinery.
    • Check and ensure quality of rolls relating to surface finish, hardness, Ultrasonic Tester (UT) and the dimensions.
    • Ensure correct balancing of grinding wheels prior to operating the roll grinder machine.
    • Ensure good condition of the measuring instruments, UT and hardness tester.
    • Reporting of operating parameters.
    • Ensure SOP for roll grinding is updated and roll grinders is trained on SOP
    • Ensure Skin pass rolls are grinded properly within tolerance and blasting quality is done properly.
    • Ensure both roll grinding machines is in good working order and maintenance is done as required on a shutdown schedule.

    Requirements
    Minimum academic qualification: 

    • Matric (Maths & Science) and Relevant Technical Qualification
    • General work experience (years): 3-5 years in the steel industry

    Senior Electrician (Kwazulu Natal)

    Description

    • Conducting various maintenance, repairs, and modifications in accordance with the company standards and with the aim of improving equipment availability and sustainability.
    • To ensure that electrical tasks are undertaken and managed in a manner that supports improved equipment reliability and availability, lower maintenance and production costs, improved efficiencies, continuous improvement, and overall business sustainability in a safe and healthy manner. To take lead in maintenance activities and assist with maintenance planning.
    • Perform tasks pertaining to routine, planned, and breakdown work.
    • Ensure safe, efficient, and accurate maintenance of equipment according to maintenance protocols, procedures, instructions, and  schedules.
    • Conduct inspections on equipment, record data required for notifications, works orders, or job cards, and provides this information to the Electrical Superintendent.
    • Conduct planning for tasks. This relates to day plans as well as weekly plans.
    • Ensuring that all planned preventive maintenance is completed correctly and on time
    • Do Fault finding, perform repairs, replacements, or modifications tasks on plant and equipment as instructed.
    • Use tools and equipment provided to ensure the completion of any task.
    • Follow all maintenance related processes and procedures as required by the maintenance management system and ensure that all            electrical team members follow the same processes.
    • Report on maintenance activities as required.
    • Conduct standby and shift duties as and when required.
    • Check equipment on a regular basis and report observed defects and deviations from the standard maintenance parameters and requirements to the Electrical Superintendent, Electrical Engineer, Electrical Technician and Maintenance Manager.
    • Assist in activities according to instruction of the Electrical Superintendent, Electrical Engineer, Electrical Technician and Maintenance Manager.

    Requirements

    • Minimum academic qualification: Matric(N3) or NQF4 (Electrical Engineering) Trade tested electrician (Red Seal from approved training center)
    • General work experience (years): Minimum 5 years post qualification experience in industrial/manufacturing Environment.

    Fire and Risk Officer (Durban)

    Description

    • Provide an Emergency and Firefighting and preventions service. Safety provision and support in conjunction with the site Safety Officer.

    Fire Safety and Prevention

    • Develop and implement fire safety protocols and emergency response plans in line with organizational and regulatory standards.
    • Conduct regular fire risk assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend mitigation measures.
    • Coordinate fire drills, training sessions, and fire safety awareness programs for all staff members.

    Emergency Response

    • Serve as the primary responder for fire-related incidents and ensure effective coordination of emergency response teams.
    • Ensure fire extinguishers, alarm systems, sprinklers, and other firefighting equipment are regularly inspected, maintained, and meet safety standards.
    • Develop and maintain emergency evacuation plans and procedures, ensuring clear communication and training for staff.

    Risk Assessment and Management

    • Identify potential workplace hazards and conduct risk assessments for fire and other safety threats.
    • Collaborate with the HSE team to develop control measures, implement safety improvements, and reduce risks.
    • Evaluate existing safety protocols and recommend updates in line with current best practices and compliance requirements.

    Compliance and Reporting

    • Ensure compliance with local fire safety regulations, industry standards, and organizational policies.
    • Maintain accurate records of fire safety activities, including inspection logs, risk assessment reports, and training records.
    • Prepare and present fire and risk assessment reports, incident investigations, and safety audit findings to management.

    Requirements

    • Minimum Qualification: Education: Matric- Grade 12 or equivalent
    • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Fire Officer, Fire Inspector, or Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Certification preferred.
    • Experience: 3+ years of experience in fire safety, risk management, or a similar role in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
    • Knowledge: Familiarity with local fire and safety codes, emergency response procedures, and risk assessment practices.

    Certification:

    • Firefighter I & II certification (NFPA or equivalent). Fire Officer I certification (NFPA or equivalent).
    • Certification in CPR, First Aid, and Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is often required.
    • Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations certification.
    • Additional certifications, such as Fire Instructor or Fire Inspector, are advantageous

    Technical Buyer (Durban West)

    Description

    • Carry out tasks as delegated by the SCM Management Team in a timeous and accurate manner.
    • Understand the basic workings of different categories of spares / technical consumables and their potential use in a production environment.
    • Have a close working relationship with the maintenance and electrical department to provide accurate spares / consumables in the right time, at the right price and of the right quality.
    • Obtain 3 Quotes for all non-standard items where possible.
    • Raise purchase Orders and expedite orders in line with requirements to meet production, planning or stores deadlines.
    • Inform the SCM Management team timeously of any possible line stoppers / Stock outs.
    • Work closely with Finance regarding any payments that may be required, especially taking deposits and upfront payments into consideration for both local and imported goods.
    • Completing vendor application documentation.
    • Cost Savings Initiatives and projects.
    • Negotiating set pricing on standard items.
    • Assessing bids from suppliers and updating Vendors List
    • Carrying out tasks as delegated by the SCM Management Team in line with purchasing functions
    • Opening accounts with new suppliers and ensuring the correct documentation is completed and loaded onto the ERP system
    • Ensure that the Purchasing process is always followed as per the process flow of our ERP system
    • Making sure goods arrive on time and suppliers are paid
    • Presenting new ideas to SCM management team.
    • Writing and presenting reports timeously as required by the SCM Management Team.
    • Recording and monitoring stock levels and consumable usage
    • Checking catalogues and researching new products and suppliers
    • To Comply with Company Policy and Procedures
    • Black Economic Empowerment accreditation management of suppliers.
    • Create added value through effective supplier relationship management

    Requirements

    • Minimum academic qualification: National Diploma in purchasing or supply chain. 
    • Qualifications as an added advantage: BCOM in Supply Chain or related field. Prior technical qualifications is advantageous.
    • General work experience (years): 6 Years
    • Specific to the position (level/discipline/years): 3 Years with previous technical buying experience or working in a technical position before transitioning to procurement.
