    Junior Chemical Plant Operator (Jnr CPO)

    Purpose of Job

    • To coordinate and direct maintenance and repair services for a specific process within a production line, through control panel management and more complex troubleshooting.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Provides adequate feedback to supervisor on work progress.
    • Participates in risk assessments according to legislation and company requirements to improve safety.
    • Maintains good housekeeping and adheres to waste disposal procedures.
    • Work Independently.
    • Understand and know the business, drives and KPIs.
    • Apply and maintain safety in a working environment.
    • Participates in shift handover meetings.
    • Identifies personal training and development needs, and incorporates into PDP with group leader's approval.
    • Conduct on the job coaching of learners SME.

    • Play an appropriate main role during emergency situations to get the plant back on line.

    Operator Tractor

    Purpose of Job

    • To operate Mining related machinery and equipment within designed parameters in order to reduce waste and optimise operating cost.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Complete job specific task/checklist accurately.
    • Visual inspection of working environment ensuring safety standards are adhered to and reporting any unsafe conditions to superior.
    • Application of job specific SOP's and COP's to ensure housekeeping standards are Upheld.
    • Function efficiently and effectively as part of a team to work towards achieving team Goals.
    • Sensitive on how your actions affect the cost of your team, identify and act on cost saving initiatives.
    • Report all task activities.
    • Use of basic hand tools
    • Tack weld of items on shop floor

    • Basic knowledge in the use of Gas cutting equipment

    Formal Qualifications

    • Grade 12 with the valid tractor license.

    • Able to obtain a Medical certificate of fitness
    • 5 Gasses/Competent A or B

    Artisan Gr 2 Turbine Fitter

    Purpose of Job

    • This Turbine Fitter position will form part of the Centralized Maintenance Function within Sasolburg and Natref Operations reporting to the Natref Foreman. This team is responsible for condition monitoring of all rotating equipment, which includes vibration analysis, seal and temperature monitoring, as well as oil and lubrication inspection to ensure equipment reliability, early fault detection, and optimal performance

    Key Accountabilities

    • Perform regular condition monitoring inspections on all rotating equipment, including vibration, temperature, and seal performance checks.
    • Conduct oil and lubrication inspections, ensuring the correct lubricant quality and quantity, and identify potential contamination or degradation issues.
    • Record and interpret condition monitoring data to support proactive maintenance decisions.
    • Collaborate with reliability engineers and maintenance planners to address abnormalities and develop corrective actions based on monitoring results.
    • Ensure all monitoring data and findings are accurately logged in CMMS (SAP or equivalent system).

    Functional / Technical

    • Maintenance on all types rotating equipment.
    • Work in accordance with quality plans and work procedures.
    • Fault finding on rotating equipment, as well as auxiliary systems (eg, controls systems of a turbine)
    • Be conversant with the technical parameters governing rotating equipment maintenance regarding, mechanical seal installation, bearing clearances, gaskets, rotors, couplings, alignment and protection devices.
    • Work according to CMMS SAP work orders (or similar)

    Behavioural

    • Feedback to customer (plant maintenance / production).
    • Communicate with customer concerning machine condition, defects as/when required.

    Formal Education

    • Grade 12 with maths and science or N3 with maths, science and language  – NQF Level 4
    • Qualified as an Artisan Fitter NQF4
    • Valid Code 8 drivers licence (MUST)

    Work Experience

    • Minimum 3 years of experience on working with rotating equipment (e.g. pumps), after obtaining a NQF4 artisan certification, which should at least be any of the following:

    Steam Turbines

    • Centrifugal compressors (barrel & spilt face type)
    • Reciprocating compressors
    • Centrifugal pumps (single and multi-stage)
    • Positive displacement pumps
    • Fans
    • Blowers
    • Gearboxes
    • Installation of mechanical seals
    • Laser alignment
    • Balancing (would be beneficial)
    • Fault finding on auxiliary systems
    • Knowledge of ISO 18000 safety standards / similar safety systems
    • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2008 quality management system

    Maintenance Assistant

    Purpose of Job

    • A Maintenance Assistant supports the Maintenance team by providing effective equipment maintenance assistance and reliability while adhering to procedures/codes, to increase stability and maintain sustainability of equipment.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Conduct routine inspections of rotating equipment, including monitoring oil temperature and vibration levels.
    • Support maintenance activities, including lubrication, filter changes, and basic servicing of pumps, compressors, and turbines
    • Assist with housekeeping and general maintenance tasks within the plant or workshop as required. 
    • Ensure that inspection and maintenance records are accurately documented and maintained. 
    • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.  
    • Safety procedures, works instruction, emergency preparedness
    • Hand tools (Drill, screwdriver, grinder, paint brush, portable tools)
    • Use trade related hand tools safely
    • Clean up site
    • Use 2-way radios as a form of communication when performing rigging tasks

    • Attends and interacts in PDAs and RCAs to improve plant safety and stability.

    Formal Education

    • High School / School Diploma or similar

    Work Experience

    • 0 - 2 years relevant working experience
    • Basic technical knowledge of rotating equipment inspection (e.g., oil temperature, vibration analysis).  
    • Familiarity with pumps, compressors, and turbines is required.  
    • Prior experience in maintenance or a related field is a plus but not mandatory.
