    Dangerous Goods Advisor and Transport Sustainability

    Purpose of Job

    • To ensuring compliance with national and international regulations related to the transport of dangerous goods by road, rail, air, or sea. To provides expert guidance on classification, packaging, labelling, documentation, and emergency response procedures.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Monitor, interpret, and ensure compliance with ADR, IATA, IMDG and the NRTA.
    • Liaise with regulatory authorities and industry bodies to ensure alignment.
    • Conduct DG training sessions on handling, and transporting dangerous goods.
    • Ensure correct classifications of all DG’s on site (ADR). Support SDS authors with section 14 classifications and reviews.
    • Take the lead to conduct route risk assessments on site for dangerous goods together with road traffic and EMS.
    • Advise operations on safer handling procedures for dangerous goods.
    • Create and maintain transport emergency cards (Trecards) for all DG products on site.
    • Maintain accurate records of DG incidents.
    • Investigate DG (transport) related incidents on site.
    • Participate in on site transport risk assessments providing expert support (preventive and corrective controls advise).
    • Monthly DG reporting and trending (performance based).
    • Provide DG requirements during transporter contracting process.
    • Conduct monthly second level assurance assessments.
    • Participate in onsite and off-site transport emergency response exercises.
    • Recommend improvements to site procedures to ensure continues transporter and safe handling of DG on site.

    Stakeholder Management:

    • Represent the company in external forums, working groups, and regulatory consultations.
    • Communicate complex regulatory and safety information clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Collaborate with internal teams stakeholders to ensure regulatory and safety alignment.
    • Participate in Sasol technical forums representing SO operations and hosted entities.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s or Hon/Master’s degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Occupational Hygiene, or related field.
    • 6years of experience in related field
    • In-depth knowledge of Dangerous Goods
    • DG certification will be an advantage

    Competencies:

    • Regulatory Knowledge: Interpretation of national and international transport (DG) legislation (ADR, IATA, IMDG and NRTA)
    • Classification skills: Ability to classify dangerous goods base on hazard type and severity
    • Organizational Skills: Managing multiple initiatives simultaneously and keeping track of deadlines.
    • Communication Skills: Interacting with technical, regulatory bodies, and internal departments to gather necessary information and provide updates.
    • Technical Proficiency: Ability to read and interpret technical and regulatory requirements.
    • Stakeholder Relationships: Assisting stakeholders in compliance with regulatory requirements for Secunda product portfolio (Final products, waste and intermediate products)
    • Problem Solving: Resolving any issues or discrepancies with regulatory and technical requirements or interpretations.

    ER Specialist Mining

    Purpose of Job

    • Responsible to provide necessary support to the management on various processes and portfolios (small, big, less or more complex), in compliance with group and regional minimum standards, leveraging HR expert services and transactional services in the region, in order to drive the business agenda, service the business requirements into integrated people solutions, value generation and reduce business risks.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Provide an integrated Employee Relations consulting service to the assigned portfolio to ensure sound employee relations; labour peace and stability and that staff related issues are dealt with constructively and appropriately, as well as within the regulations and legislation. 
    • Ensure labour relations process compliance (e.g. disciplinary hearings, grievances, redundancies, industrial action, unfair labour practice, transfer of a going concern and legal matters) for the assigned client portfolio. 
    • Monitor and oversee the ER climate and challenges within the assigned area and the potential impact on the business, and proactively addresses these. 
    • Drive relationship and engagement management with key stakeholders (trade unions, management, employees and external communities) to actively manage these relationships and ensure all stakeholders are aligned. 
    • Ascertain and communicate the impact of decisions and actions on wider Employee Relations, precedent setting, morale and reputational risk. 
    • Proactively educate line management on legislation and policy application to ensure these are applied appropriately in the client portfolio. 
    • Attend appeal hearings, senior level grievances and other Employee Relations meetings as advisor and to ensure procedural and substantive fairness. 
    • Ensures that disciplinary and incapacity procedures are adhered to. 
    • Ensures Employee Relations are conducted in accordance with legislation, codes of conduct and company policy. 
    • Ensure compliance with HR guidelines and regulations. Protection of the interests of both Sasol and the employee and ensures values driven employee relations is fostered. 
    • Drives the Employee Relations partnership forums for the business and engages with key internal and external stakeholders. 
    • Ensures that rules are applied consistently; there is no selective discipline and unjustified preferential treatment in a workplace. 
    • Ensure managers are equipped to effectively deal with sensitive employee matters appropriately.

    Formal Education

    • 3-4-year Relevant University Degree (preferably LLB or equivalent)

    Administration Clerk

    Purpose of Job

    • This position supports the management team, operations and maintenance functions within Emergency Management. The role is key to maintaining Maintenance records for statutory service work.

    Key Accountabilities
    Operational, financial and technical results:

    • Maintain the approved & effective work practices required within this role so that the maximum benefit is derived from the available resources.

    • Stock Control Orders - Monthly ordering stock for the Operational and Consumable storeroom as per stock control sheet, PPE Management - Consolidate PPE requests and create PR’s, Internal Purchase Requests - Action ad-hoc purchase requests, Purchase Order Record - Daily as per request - Coordinating and complete spreadsheet as per requests received.
    • Prepare, draft, maintain and capture reports, documents & written records; book and prepare meeting rooms, disseminate information to team members, maintain filing, database systems, and inventories. 

    Safety Administration & Support:

    • Manage and effectively coordinate safety administration responsibilities including booking, recording and maintaining records of safety meetings. Support the Emergency Management compliance towards compliance with second- and third-party audit requirements. Distribute audit preparation and compliance information.

    Logistics Scheduler x2

    Purpose of Job

    • Transform customer order requirements into daily optimized and executable transportation and delivery schedules using the TMS system across all market streams (Retail, Commercial and Wholesale Marketing). Optimization objectives include minimizing cost while improving customer service through improved vehicle utilization and route selection, taking all constraints into consideration. To facilitate engagements with internal and external stakeholders to identify, analyze and implement mitigations and continuous improvement opportunities for the operation. The Logistics Scheduler is responsible for analyzing, interpret and translating LCCT standard reports and KPIs into useful information that can be used to initiate continuous improvement interventions.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Validate replenishment plan and ensure that the suggested orders from the replenishment tool are valid as per the defined criteria
    • Coordinate all received and requested order amendments and check them against the relevant ZMF schedule
    • Validate and resolve emergency order requests.
    • Ensure that all the applicable constrains have been taken into consideration within the ATG and TMS system
    • Validate the generated schedule, on compartment level, to ensure that it is optimal. Make relevant manual adjustments if required.
    • Monitoring, performance utilizing leading and lagging indicators through various daily, weekly and monthly reports and applying the required corrective actions.
    • Execute replenishment plan and ensure that the suggested orders from the replenishment tool are valid as per the defined criteria.
    • Identify optimization opportunities by challenging business rules and operating parameters.
    • Ensure that the schedule is aligned with safety rules, business rules and scheduling parameters.
    • Load planning, transport allocation and volume checks.
    • Communicate preliminary schedule as per the time deadlines and address any changes submitted by the Logistics Department before publishing the final schedule.
    • Initiate creation of shipments for deliveries on the optimized schedule.
    • Completed administration and housekeeping of all documents
    • Review depot performance against schedule and implement continuous improvement measures.
    • Manage stakeholder relationships through constant communication on service status; conduct continuous improvement by facilitating effective root-cause analysis; and provide prompt feedback to stakeholders with regards to incident resolution.

    Formal Education

    • Degree or equivalent (preferred B. Com Logistics and Transport Management) or similar with 3 or more years Logistics Scheduling experience  or Matric with 6 years or more Logistics Scheduling Experience
    • Understanding/Experience with Linear Programming or a Transportation Planning Tool
    • Strong Replenishment Planning and SAP system knowledge required
